Great Street Tacos Finally had an opportunity to try Tacos Calafia and this place is serving up great tasting street tacos and so much more. On this visit we shared few carne asada tacos, beans, chips/salsa. The carne asada was tender and flavorful and the homemade corn tortilla complements the carne asada so well. There is not a reason to go to chipotle over here, and if you think chipotle is better, you must not be sane. Not too bad for this type of fast-ish food Mexican! We got quite a bit of food for what we paid. We got chips, guac, and salsa, a nopal burrito, carne asada tacos for my husband, and a quesadilla. It was ready for pick up pretty quickly. The nopal burrito was a tad soggy but a few minutes in the air fryer fixed that. I did have to take a little bit of the nopal out because there was just a bit too much. I wish there would've been more beans and less cheese too. The guac was a touch bland but very tasty. For $1.99 we were given a paper bag with tortilla chips and directed to a self-serve station for salsa and guacamole. This was disappointing. I like my salsa with some substance and theirs reminded me of V8 juice. The guacamole had a strange feel to it and was probably extended with something. My steak quesadilla was very meaty, cheesy, and a bit on the greasy side, but it was really, really good. My friends had various tacos and were not overwhelmed, but hey, it was just lunch. I have 4 tacos total, 1 carne asada and three al pastor. They were great, no old meat flavors and the meat was still tender. It came with some yellow corn tortillas but I had the option to do flour if I wanted. Angelica got a carne asada burrito, she would take a small bite and then shortly after say, "this is good". Isaiah got a quesadilla, this is white melty gooey goodness. All in all it's a good place to get some tacos on the north side of Phoenix. Oh also I wanted to say that the coke fountain drink is on point as well. There have been times where the soda is lack luster to say the least.
