DATE & TIME OF VISIT: August 8, 2024 @ 2:46pm. They were not busy, we were the only people in the restaurant. AMBIANCE & CLEANLINESS: located in a little strip mall next to a gas station. Everything was clean and it was minimally decorated in Mexican decor (I actually like it being minimal in decor). They had one tv to watch (if that's your thing). HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostess was also our server and very nice. She answered any quester had and was attentive. FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Beef Chimichanga (lunch portion) -- Taste, was good in general, beef lacked seasoning/flavor. Size, average to most other places. Price $8.99 and it comes with rice, beans, and "salad" (see picture). Chicken Fajitas -- Taste, very good, chicken had nice flavor/seasoning. Size, decent amount of meat/veggies, severed with your choice of corn or flour tortillas (I chose traditional corn). Price $15.99 and it comes with rice, beans, and "salad". Beef enchiladas (lunch portion) -- Taste, was good. Price $8.99 and it comes with rice and beans. You also get free chips and salsa (always a positive at Mexican restaurants)!! OVERALL THOUGHTS: Delicious Mexican food. Flavor lacked a little bit in the rice (not really seasoned) and beef (husband said it wasn't very seasoned. Overall food and price was good, we left full. WOULD I RETURN? Yes but with caution! About an hour after eating here my husband ended up with a massive headache and I had some not so pleasant bathroom issues for the next two hours!

Out of town traveling between the middle of nowhere Michigan and Grand Rapids when I pulled off the exit starving and desperate for a good meal. The pure luck of finding Tacos El Cunado makes me feel like I won the mega millions of Mexican food lotto. In a non-descript strip mall next to a gas station, I had the best Steak a la Mexican meal I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cut and cooked. The tomatoes, onions, and peppers that accompanied it were charred and spicy in the best way. The beans and rice were good, and the salsa and guacamole cooled my tongue slightly between bites. The corn and flour tortillas were steaming and plentiful. The horchata was cinnamon-y and huge! And the waitress was awesome as she handled six or seven rotating tables and several takeout orders with ease and a smile. Do yourself a favor and go support this new spot!

A Hearty Homestyle Italian Experience at Nonno's in Cedar Springs…read more As someone who's a proud quarter Italian (with a son who's one-eighth Italian and seven-eighths delightful mongrel), our family takes our pasta seriously. So when we wandered into Nonno's Homestyle Italian & Pizzeria on a sunny July evening at 5 PM, we were ready to embrace our heritage one bite at a time. Tonight's special was chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, and I knew I had to give it a whirl. My son opted for the pasta penne with chicken and their creamy Rose sauce. His entrée came with a fresh side salad, while both our meals included generous slices of garlic bread. I added a side salad with their house dressing--which, while simple, was downright addictive. Sometimes less truly is more. Now, when we say the portions are generous, we mean it. My son was served what can only be described as a ceremonial pasta bucket. Undeterred, he dug in with gusto and earned his spot in the prestigious clean plate club. As for me, the chicken Parmesan was delicious but defeated me just shy of victory--I ate too much to warrant a to-go box, yet not quite enough to claim a clean plate badge. A noble effort nonetheless. Drink-wise, my son kept things bold with a Dr. Pibb, while I went with a refreshing lemonade. We both agreed our meals hit the mark: flavorful, filling, and made with care. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The restaurant was spotless, our server friendly and attentive without hovering. I even popped into the men's room before dinner and was genuinely impressed--clean enough that, while I wouldn't endorse it, you could probably eat off the floor. (Respect to the crew who keeps it that pristine.) All in all, Nonno's is one of Cedar Springs' hidden gems--a place where even partial Italians and full-blooded food lovers can find something to celebrate. We'll be back. Next time, maybe I'll train harder and join the clean plate club myself.

The ambiance is pretty typical of any Thai restaurant. Tastefully decorated, not cluttered or tacky at all. The menu was a bit lengthy, but it was nicely laid out and easy to read. The prices are pretty comparable with other Thai restaurants. Our waiter, I believe, was also the owner of the restaurant, a very pleasant gentleman. He was knowledgable about the menu and offered a spice range of 1 (no spice) to 10 (extremely spicy), and anywhere in between. My son ordered the Drunk Mama dish, my husband ordered the Mongolian dish, and after asking if there was soy in it (and mentioning I had a soy allergy), I ordered the Vegetable dish. The waiter assured me they could make it without soy. It was literally only a few minutes when the dishes started coming to the table, piping hot. I had only taken about 2 bites when the waiter came over to the table, took one look at my dish and said, "Oh, let me remake that for you. I can tell this has soy in it." He whisked it away immediately. A few minutes later, I was given a newly prepared dish, without soy, and was told there would be no charge for dinner. I also received many apologies for the mixup. This is one place that genuinely cares about their customers. My vegetable dish was full of tasty, very fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The spice levels were perfect, the presentation was nice, and the taste was outstanding. We love Thai food and have tried a lot of them, but this one is now at the top of our list. We live on the south end of Grand Rapids, but we will definitely be back! I'm looking forward to trying many of the other dishes listed on the menu. I highly recommend you try Jasmine Thai too.

Panda Chinese Restaurant - Our Local Cedar Springs Gem for Amazing Chinese Takeout!…read more Cedar Springs crew (and anyone nearby in the area): if you're looking for consistently delicious, affordable Chinese food that hits the spot every single time, Panda Chinese Restaurant (14111 White Creek Ave NE) right here in town is the place to go. As a Cedar Springs local, this has been my reliable go-to for years--no disappointments, ever. Today's order was my classic: sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. Perfection. The chicken was crispy outside, tender inside, and swimming in that ideal tangy-sweet sauce (not overly thick or runny--just right). The fried rice? Loaded with onions, green onions, egg bits, veggies, and that perfect wok-seasoned flavor with a nice black pepper kick. Egg roll was hot, crunchy, and stuffed perfectly. Generous portions that make you happy with leftovers too. The family running the counter are absolute sweethearts--always polite, efficient, and clearly dedicated to doing things right. Sometimes their style might come off as a little curt at first because of cultural differences--they're thorough and focused on getting your order spot-on and out fast, which is common in hardworking family spots. But stick with it (especially as a regular), and their genuine warmth comes through loud and clear. (It's a bit bittersweet seeing their little boy has grown up--no more hanging in the back playing video games or doing homework like the old days. Time really flies!) Price-wise? Total bargain. Hearty, fresh food at a great value--way better than chains, and you feel good knowing your dollars support a local family business right here in Cedar Springs. This is one of those community spots we all need to keep thriving. Skip the bigger chains for a night and swing by Panda--quick takeout, speedy service, and food that never misses. Cedar Springs locals, let's show up for them! Pro tip: Extra sweet-and-sour sauce for dipping is a must if you're into that. You're welcome.

I ordered the garage sale: white cheddar, fresh mozz, rosemary goat mousse, havarti, and swiss on challah. I also got the steak and mushroom soup and the snert soup for Nate. When I arrived my order was waiting for me - it was nicely packaged and secure so everything was safely contained for my short drive home. The sandwich wasn't very melty, I ended up heating it up in a pan myself which helped. It was super tasty, though! I love the combination of cheeses. The steak and mushroom soup was really good, with chunks of meat in a creamy broth. The snert soup was very salty! The menu description indicated the snert soup should have sausage or kielbasa in it, but we didn't notice any. The restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating, but I'd probably just order there next time. You can also get samples.
