We do take out from here several times a month. It is absolutley consistently great. Most restaurants will have an off night, but not Sabor. We once had to wait a bit for guacamole because they make fresh batched throughout the day. That dedication to quality is rare. Everyhting is excellent. read more

I would say best Mexican food in Lowell but I would put them up against any Grand Rapids area places as well! I just stopped in for a torta and taco, they were both top notch 10 out of 10! Brought some take out home from a busy Sabor Mexicano this evening. Not a lot of privacy 8n the small dining area. Glad we did take out. We had heard good things about Sabor, and we were not disappointed Each item of our order was very good. From the meat to the dipping sauces, this meal was great. Including the guacamole and tasty corn chips. We would definitely recommend this place for a good Mexican meal. Just consider doing take out vs. the smaller eating area. This place is great! We got the opportunity to finally visit and try this place out after hearing so much about it! The food was incredible! We got the "dippy tacos" and they were incredible! Super cheesy! We also tried out some tacos, they were big and flavorful! The rice is by far the best rice we've ever had! The homemade chips were great as well, with lots of different salsas to try! Their food is consistently good with good variety. Have not had anything that wasn't. The chips are great, but wish they were served with salsa rather than hot sauce. I visited the local skatepark all morning and was looking for a good lunch spot. I was hot and ready to eat. Overall pretty nice spot. Good service on the river front outside. Conveniently located by the river in downtown Lowell! The restaurant is brightly colored and open with plenty of seating. When we got seated they immediately took our drink orders and brought them back with freshly made chips and salsa - and those chips were just out of the fryer and piping hot! They were so good my daughter had a meal of chips and salsa and we had to pack a whole dinner to go. They have two different salsas, both paired well with the chips and on the tacos. For entres we ordered Alambre and the Al Pastor taco meal. The alambre was delicious and we loved the added shrimp, all very nicely cooked and flavored. The Al Pastor tacos were nice, but I don't like overly juicy meat and these ones dropped with juice/grease so I likely wouldn't order those again but completely on board trying some more of their options! For drinks we had a Jaritos and Horchata. Unfortunately I didn't like the Horchata here, it was grainy and not enough spice BUT our waitress was extremely attentive, brought plenty of water and checked on us frequently. This place is a gem. The food here is fantastic! We had the sampler combo, and the loaded chimichanga. Both dishes exceeded expectations. The service was was fast and friendly. The server also did a great job explaining the dishes. The restaurant is smaller in size and the tables are usually close to full. Still we haven't had to wait very long for a table. I enjoy listening to the bustling kitchen and the upbeat music. I'm usually to full at the end of the meal, but these folks also serve some awesome deserts!! read more

This is the real deal! After reading a bunch of rave reviews my husband and I decided that we just had to check this place out. The dining area was very nicely done, very colorful and clean. The bathroom was very clean as well, probably the cleanest I have seen in a restaurant lately. After we were very nicely greeted and seated we were served chips and salsa. The chips were extremely fresh (they are made on the premises and had just gotten done) and the salsa was very tasty. I ordered a steak taco a la carte and beans and rice a la carte. I don't eat much at a sitting so I try not to order too much food. I still ended up taking half of it home with me. The taco is served on two soft corn shells and I split the "guts" up between the two shells and took one taco home with me. The tacos came with onion and cilantro (no lettuce, tomato, or cheese, but I think you can order them that way) just the way I like them. They were perfect. My husband had the chicken flautas, and while he said they were very tasty, he also said that they were a bit dry. I think he's just used to the way my son makes them. All in all it was a very good meal and we can't wait to go back again. read more

She brought us chips straight out of the fryer, and they were glistening from what had to be lard and sprinkled with salt. Sweet Jesus, they were delicious! I tried 2 tacos: the al pastor and the steak. Both came with double soft corn tortillas, and each was topped with minced onion and cilantro. They were good but surprisingly flavorless. I'm not talking about spiciness, bc they have 3 types of sauces at the table. Just not much seasoning or meat flavor. My husband got the tamales, and there was a lot of filling and just the right amount of masa (most places lay it on super thick like it was brick mortar). He enjoyed them very much. My wife and I visited Sabor Mexicano for the second time after a few months since our first visit. We had received excellent service our first visit -- our waitress had given us a free bowl of salsa after they were out of the guacamole, gave us 2 tamales as well, and was on top of everything. Tonight, we visited around 6 PM craving the tamales to which we found out we could not order. Our waitress failed to check on us -- our food and drinks -- the entire 45 minutes or so we were there until we asked for boxes to leave. Sabor Mexicano has been catering to the Lowell area for a year, outside of a local brewery. We have eaten at Sabor several times and really enjoy the authenticity and atmosphere. The chips are made fresh and I personally love their Pozole special on Friday and Saturday. We had stopped in a while back for dinner and noticed that even though it wasn't very busy that the service was real slow. The food was ok once we finally were served but nothing special. We figured we would give them another chance thinking maybe they were just having a bad day. Tonight we went in and after ordering we sat there for one hour and still didn't have any food. I spoke with manager and was given every excuse in the book from the kitchen is to small to they have to go orders that they have to take care of. One hour and we didn't even have a worker approach us after taking our order. I don't recommend this business and I won't be going back myself. They didn't seem to care that we were unhappy.
