This place is amazing! This is the definition of a hole in the wall but in the best way ever. Don't let the outside not make you go on. It's an the end of a strip mall and even when inside, it's not fancy but the food is soooooo good! The customer service is exceptional also and the food is even better! We were in a group and ended up ordering a bunch of things. Tacos and burritos mostly, and everyone absolutely loved it. The person behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. We walked in and tables were full of local construction workers so we knew it was going to be good. The owner greeted us warmly and recommended what we should order. This place is the real deal. The food was outstanding. I have been meaning to come here for a while. Never being here before I asked the owner what he recommends. It's funny he has a list of most requested dishes and I chose the smothered burrito. Well hot damn first bite was off the charts perfect. I will be back and highly recommend. There are a ton of options and my buddy had 5 tacos!! The shrimp was fantastic even though it was not the owners most recommended. After waiting a couple of minutes, the owner gave a speech on how he values customers, how if we didn't like what we ordered, he would refund our money. Great. I was debating between the different options, but my daughter decided to order a carne asada burrito, no beans. "I can't do that - I'm too busy." He said pointing to the line of 5 people behind us. "What can't you do?" I asked, confused. "I can't do any variations. I can't NOT put in beans." "Really? You just don't have to put them in." I said. "She gets stomach pains when she eats beans." "Order something else, that doesn't require specialization/variation." I mean that doesn't seem to be very customer service oriented. This place was just what you want in a taco spot. My dad had the quesadillas birria tacos and the were so good they fried cheese on the outside of the taco. The consume had great flavor. This very authentic taqueria is served by Marcelino (the owner and chef). Despite the appearance of the restaurant, the food is on point. We were greeted with a friendly face and given a great couple of suggestions to try. Our family each had different meats on our choices and I have to say, they were all excellent. However, I personally preferred the Adobada (spicy pork). The Barbacoa (slow cooked shredded beef) was good too! Try the very hot salsa made from habanero peppers if you like spicy. Marcelino even told me about his cooking technique with tongue which I was very interested in. Will definitely return and I would highly recommend this place. read more

Went in excited to try their tacos and asked for no onion, the man taking the orders told me when they are busy he forgets and still adds it and then said "good thing we're not busy" but then went on to say "you might get onions you might not, I forget sometimes and if you don't have any allergies to it you will be fine". I went with my bf who ordered a smothered burrito and cannot eat cilantro and he told him the same thing, that he doesn't know if he will forget to take out the pico de gallo or not. That is terrible service. We advised him if he wasn't sure if he would forget or not we would just prefer to cancel our orders to which he said okay and let us walk out. read more

Our favorite taco place in delta was closed so we tried this place after reading the great reviews. I was SHOCKED. It's a hole in the wall place but that's not something I care about. The owner was very sweet and had good service getting to us quickly. But the food was prepared much earlier and he just nuked it in the microwave right in front of us. We got there at noon so I'm sure it was from the day before. Both our burritos were freezing in the center and singed on the outside making the chili separate. It was also super salty. This is absolutely the best, most authentic Mexican food we have had since Mexico! We stumbled on Tacos El Gordo by happenstance, but there is no other Mexican food in Colorado to match this home made, hand made food. We had chicken enchiladas, shrimp tacos and fish tacos. along with really great beans with a subtle hint of chipotle, and flavorful rice. The was no overdose of gooey cheese or heavy grease.
