Whenever I'm traveling for work, I like…read moreto look for good local eats, and this place had outstanding reviews, so I figured it was worth a try. After browsing through the photos, the gorditas immediately caught my eye. They looked too good to pass up, so that's exactly what I ordered. The restaurant is located inside La Placita Mercado, which added to the experience. I even got to put some of my Spanish skills to use while placing my order. It was definitely good practice! For the price, it was an excellent deal. I received two huge gorditas with rice and beans, and everything was delicious. The gorditas were perfectly crispy on the outside, while the fillings were generous and packed with flavor. Overall, this is a fantastic little hidden gem. Great food, generous portions, and excellent value. I'll definitely keep this spot on my radar whenever I'm back in the area!

Stopped here on my way home from Monterey to SoCal…read more Cute little spot!. Looked clean and welcoming. The hostess/waitress was super nice and greeted us as soon as we walked in. The free chips and salsa were a good start. Salsa wash fresh and chips were crispy. Al Pastor Torta: 8/10 Bread was fresh and nicely toasted on the outside. The torta was very good except not a 10 because I am used to the style of tortas in OC which are full and mighty. The dipped Torta with chorizo: 8/10 Very filling with good flavors. At the end you basically get a side salad from all the droppings - which I finished off for my bf :) Would come here again if I'm driving by. The food was better than expected for not being familiar with the area!

Taqueria Pacheco - I forget the name of this but it's basically a torta with the bread dipped in enchilada sauce. My bf loved it.

It's always decorated nicely with a fresh flower on the table and the restaurant music is great. Today we had the mojarra plate, the aguachiles with fresh made tostadas, the Cali burrito, and quesabirria plate. Since we all wanted water, they made us a pitcher of fresh lemon water for the table. We also got to sample their in house carnitas with a taco. We have also tried their Cali burger, their chicken fajitas, and their taco plate. Their corn tortillas are always fresh as well and their chips and salsa. They also have a food truck that goes around to local events, so everyone needs to try this place

Driving south on the 101, it was time to eat lunch. Got off on Front Street, saw this restaurant…read moreand decided to stop. We hit the jackpot! Walked in at the same time as another couple and there was just one guy behind the counter. The other couple got there first so it took a bit of time for our food - but that meant it was fresh - and so worth the wait! We both had 2 street tacos - one chicken and 3 carnitas. All were juicy and tender and so delicious! The side of refried beans were tasty. Sautéed onions were on both plates and they were the best we'd ever had - so good we had to ask how he made them! The ambiance was clean and inviting and we loved the red roses hanging from the ceiling - very cool idea! There were even fresh flowers on every table. If you get a chance to eat here - don't pass it up! (Forgot to take pix of the food!)
