    Empanadas de chorizo
    Vanessa P.

They have the usual items a mexican food truck has except for a few Oaxacan specialties. I tried the chorizo Empanadas and Huarachitos and wow they were so good! Their tortilla dough is fresh you can tell and they use that stringy gooey yummy Oaxacan cheese. The Huarachitos were new to me and looked very interesting...small oval corn tortilla with a layer of black beans, chorizo, lettuce, avocado slice, radish slice, crema and that stringy yummy cheese on top! Soooo good. Definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu.

Very friendly. The birria burrito was amazing! The portion of meat was generous and not too much rice, although the rice was super yummy.

She was very friendly, but not very communicative. We asked for a menu and were told to look at the wall where there were some photos and lists of dishes, but no prices. We were just trying to get some burritos to take on the highway, so we each ordered what we wanted. Then she went in the back, washed her hands, and made the burritos. The burritos were good and the salsa provided was decent. The inside of the place is dingy and uninviting and not even pleasant for just waiting for takeout food. Having just one person working made it slow even though we were the only customers.

Drinks are either bottles or cans. Soda, beer, water, juice, you choose. They have karaoke in the evenings on the weekends which usually draws a fun crowd. The kitchen is open for orders too. They have plenty of tables and chairs as the restaurant is huge. The employees are always pleasant and ready to prepare your food. They take phone orders if you're short for time. I suggest you call twenty/thirty minutes ahead of picking up your order. They also have a restaurant with same name and menu in Soledad.

We were on our way home from the 17-Mile Drive and wanted to get dinner before our long drive back. I found Padrino Restaurant on Yelp, and we decided to give it a try. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted and seated. I loved that they provide the table with a pitcher of water, but I do wish it was a little larger. We ordered the kids' food while we looked over the menu. This restaurant is a little more expensive than most Mexican restaurants. A kids' quesadilla was $8 with no sides included. We ordered a side of rice and beans for the kids to share since they were $4 each. My oldest got two fried quesadillas, and my youngest got one regular quesadilla. They don't automatically bring out chips and salsa, but they do offer them. I actually don't mind that because it can feel wasteful to give them to every table when not everyone will eat them. I understand the choice. I ordered the Stuffed Chilaquiles with beef. I loved the flavors. They were definitely different from what I am used to, but still very delicious. The asada was seasoned really well, although don't expect a huge portion of meat. I would give this 4/5 stars. My husband ordered the Enchiladas Rojas with a side of rice and beans (for an extra charge). He did not like the sauce at all because it was more like a dark mole sauce than the red sauce he is used to. I traded plates with him, and I actually liked it. It had a darker flavor than what I am used to, but it was still delicious. I would give this 3/5 stars. My mother-in-law ordered the Green Enchiladas. They were very different--they were more like flautas covered in green sauce. Still good, just not what we expected. I would give them 3/5 stars. I am happy we got to try it, and the service was great. I am just not sure if I would come back again. That may simply be because we are so used to the flavors and style of food we grew up with.

On this occasion, we came here on a Friday evening, we had made reservations for 6 of us. I personally ordered the agua fresca-pineapple and the lasagna. We ordered 2 chips and salsa for the table and the others ordered, arugula salad, tacos de carnitas, mahi mahi tacos, hamachi tostadas and drinks such as the spicy tamarindo, mocktail and margarita. Everyone loved their selections. One of my friends ordered the chocolate tart and the chocolate was too rich for my liking but the mousse that accompanied it was soo good, very tart and tropical. This restaurant is on California Ave., no restaurant parking but there is street parking nearby, although not on this street since its closed off to vehicle traffic. Because of timing for other errands we came at 10:30 am and they were open on time and ready. Sitting outside or inside is amazing, outside you get the crowd and the sun. Inside you get amazing interior design. My overall feedback is this is one of the rare "fancy" Mexican places that justify the price and justification. Everything is above average in taste and execution. Brunch Tacos mole: chicken mole poblano, scrambled eggs, huitlacoche, tortillas, epazote crema, fried shallots & avocado. Perfect portioning and the salad that came with it had a fantastic dressing. I pulled some chicken out and gave it to my wife and then it was perfect, a bit too overstuff before. The mole and overall taste were quite good though. Chilaquiles: tortilla chips sautéed in chile de árbol-guajillo salsa, topped with queso fresco, cilantro crema, and an egg. My wife loved this so much it made her question every time she didn't order it before. Fried egg sandwich: two over easy eggs on house baked brioche bun, chipotle aioli, avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, fried shallot. Kids loved this and happily ate the leftover after. Iced Mexican Cafe: delicious iced coffee with a distinct Mexican taste. Distrito Verde: mezcal, basil, lemon, and falernum. Simple but refreshing brunch cocktail, really paired well with the mole tacos. Chips and salsa: These are not free but worth the price. Both the chips and the 2 salsa are of extremely good quality and preparation. Abnormally tasty and the kids went crazy eating it.
