Stopped by here on the way home from a work-related trip. Whenever I'm traveling for work, I like to look for good local eats, and this place had outstanding reviews, so I figured it was worth a try. After browsing through the photos, the gorditas immediately caught my eye. They looked too good to pass up, so that's exactly what I ordered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located inside La Placita Mercado, which added to the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I even got to put some of my Spanish skills to use while placing my order. It was definitely good practice! For the price, it was an excellent deal. I received two huge gorditas with rice and beans, and everything was delicious. The gorditas were perfectly crispy on the outside, while the fillings were generous and packed with flavor. Overall, this is a fantastic little hidden gem. Great food, generous portions, and excellent value. I'll definitely keep this spot on my radar whenever I'm back in the area! read more

Wow! Excellent tacos! Fresh, house-made tortillas are so good! They add lightness and a fresh soft taste yet they don't fall apart. I'll say it... BEST TACO of my life! We had Birria. I may not be Mexican but I've had my share of tacos including the famous ones in Oakland, San Francisco, so cal. The gordita cabeza was so satisfying. Taqueria Pacheco is inside a grocery store and butcher shop so the meats are good quality. Our Not-so-baby bear, who we know can be the most picky eater, loved his super burrito with carnitas. Salsa wash fresh and chips were crispy. Al Pastor Torta: 8/10 Bread was fresh and nicely toasted on the outside. The torta was very good except not a 10 because I am used to the style of tortas in OC which are full and mighty. The dipped Torta with chorizo: 8/10 Very filling with good flavors. At the end you basically get a side salad from all the droppings - which I finished off for my bf :) Would come here again if I'm driving by. We went to the Soledad Mission and kids were hungry. This place was close and had good reviews. Located inside the market. There's some seating available inside. I asked them if I could buy a beer at the market and drink with my meal and they said no. Bummer. Would have paired nicely. Menu pretty decent. We thought it was a little pricey. All the food was good though. Cheese Quesadilla (4): What can I say. It was cheesy and crispy. Good with anything. 4 tacos (4): Got ours with Al Pastor. I really liked their salsa. Had a good kick. Their meat was decent. Nothing super spectacular but good. Super Burrito (5): This was really good. I would have preferred this over the tacos. Good combo of ingredients and the asada with on point. Driving down to Pismo Beach, we needed something for lunch. Picked this off of Yelp. It's a lunch counter inside a Mexican market (https://www.yelp.com/biz/la-placita-mercado-soledad-2), so it's not a spot for date night or anything, but it was just fine for what we wanted. We grabbed some awesome super burritos and were quickly on our way. They were tasty and grilled. Service was friendly and quick, all you could ask. Was able to pick up some beer and sodas from the market during the couple minutes it took to make our burritos, which saved us from making a second stop. read more

The salsas are full of flavor and are spicy. This is a goldmine in Soledad and prices are very friendly. We stopped here on the way to Pinnacles National Park. I got the Carne Asada burrito and the steak was cooked perfectly - very juicy and flavorful. Flour tortilla was very fresh and held ingredients together. The ratio of protein to rice was well balanced. I would argue it's the best burrito I've had in NorCal. Very hearty meal and a great way to start a long day. Since Soledad is on the way to San Jose, I would definitely come back here the next time I make another journey. read more

I wouldn't blame anybody who's making a stop in Soledad, while traveling north or south on 101, for eating at McDonald's, Taco Bell, Starbucks, or any of the other fast food restaurants. But travel north on Front Street just under a mile from the fast food gulch, and go into La Placita market for this incredible taqueria. I had a carne asada super burrito and a verde colorado taco. They were delicious. The tortillas are made fresh while your meal is being prepared. The staff is terrific (knowing Spanish is helpful but not necessary). It's a great stop for travelers and food is prepared in a fashion that facilitates "in-auto" dining! read more

Delicious food! Great place to have lunch while I charged the car. It's 1.25mi from the Electrify America charger - 20min walk. I had the carne asada plate. Great flavor; not dried out. LOTS of food! This place if f-ing amazing! We were visiting the Soledad mission on our way to Ojai and asked the woman in the gift shop if she could recommend a good Mexican restaurant in town. She said that Pacheco's was the best. She was right. We were blown away! My wife got the chicken super burrito and I got the chile verde tacos. Wow! Some of best Mexican food we had ever tasted! On our way back to the Bay Area, we stopped here for lunch and got a couple of burritos to go to enjoy when we got home. It's almost worth a drive from the Bay Area to Soledad just to eat here. The tacos were fresh homemade and the Carne just perfect. Even the beans and rice were better than the usual. This place is tucked into a corner of an authentic Mexican grocery market which carries all sorts of authentic items. Tip. If looking for diet or healthier beverages go to the left side. The gorditas are especially delicious and the chile rellenos are made with Mexican cheese. Yummy! No matter what you order, you're guaranteed to love it. The food is always fresh and well served.
