Love the menudo here but haven't visited sincem the pandemic. I'm go see today what kind of safety precautions they are taking so I can have my menudo in the fall. Day after Halloween, menudo is a must.e Went in on a Sunday at 8am, 2 other customers waiting in their car for the shop to open. There's a sign that reads go orders only and other signs that say you can order through Uber Eats or Postmates. Unfortunately you can't order menudo through there because it is an item that is only sold on the weekend. Once inside all the tables are not available to sit and there docs in the ground that read 6 feet apart. They no longer fill your olla but the portions I got were were good I just can't get as much liquid as I normally like. The menudo was as good as it always was and in the future I'll place my order over the phone and they don't mind bringing it out. If you pay cash and tip the change you can probably have a totally contactless experience. read more

I love-love-love the carne asada taco and Caldo De Res (Mexican Beef Soup) at this establishment. I've been here many times and each time, both food items mentioned tasted consistently good. The Caldo De Res has a good amount of beef shank and these are simply moist and soft. In addition, one can find a good portion of carrots, corn, potatoes and chayote. Huge bonus with the Caldo De Res, it's not oily nor greasy! Moving on to the carne asada tacos-these are really good-simple, basic good tacos with some really good salsa rojas! I took a star off as the rice portion that comes with the Caldo De Res was simply too small; it would have been really nice if this portion is doubled. Did I say the Mexican rice is really good too? I went this past Friday to get two burritos since it's close to my house . I got a carne burrito and one Al pastor. When I got home , I started eating my Al pastor burrito and it was ONE OF THE WORST BURRITOS IVE EVER EATEN. The meat Was tough to chew to the point I had to take it out of my mouth . The pieces that were not tough were pure pieces of lard/skin also not eatable. I'm not picky at all when it comes to food so for me to write a horrible review based on the burrito it's because it was bad . Torta had lettuce, sour cream, tomato and salsa. I got it on the side, they have two green which is mild and flavorful and a red which packs a kick but has a nice smoky flavor. There was plastic in my chicken enchiladas. Luckily I didn't bite down with force otherwise i could've chipped or broken a tooth. Co workers asada was grey and rubbery like left over jerky. I hate to leave reviews of this sort especially when it's a small minority owned business but I have to provide my honest opinion. Service was outstanding but finding a piece of plastic is priceless and memorable, and unsettling. Why is there plastic in my food? from where? How and why??? As it is the cost of living is expensive and to have to spend your hard earned money and find plastic in your meal and end up having to throw it away and lose out on your monies invested on your lunch break during a 16 hr shift is kinda disappointing. read more

I have visited this place many times , as it is a local business to my home. I recently visited on 4/27/24, ordered my usual carnitas tacos, which are usually very good; except on this day. I get home and on the first bite the carintas are very dry and hard had to take a lot of effort to chew. I put that one down and went to the next one, same thing. This continued through all six, inedible, and very disappointing. The preparer knew the condition of the meat when they were cutting it, so why serve it to a customer if it didn't meet the standard. To me the worst thing in food service is a person preparing food that doesn't care about what they're doing. This is the second time for me and I'm officially done with this place. read more

I love this place! My sister works at the Starbucks right across and she introduced me to this place. Their seafood dishes are pricey but they are definitely worth it! I usually get their Taco de Pescado & Tostada de Ceviche. The Taco de Pescado is simple and packed with flavor! It is a piece of fried fish with pico de gallo, crema fresca & mayo (i think) in a tortilla. One of the best Taco de Pescado I've had! Now I'm not too sure what is in the Tostada de Ceviche but it is so flavorful! The tostada is so crunchy and when it meets the limey, refreshing taste of the ceviche....perfect match! Also, when you get your food to-go, they pack everything separately so that nothing gets soggy! Its really nice of them! A MUST TRY! I used to like this place but lately, I don't know what's going on and I for sure DO NOT know what type of carne asada they are serving. I am writing this review now but this is the second consecutive time that I dissect my burrito to take out this mysterious "carne Asada" they are serving. The meat they are using is poor quality. First off, it has lumps of white hard lard or fat. Then it also has over charred pieces of meat that might have been accumulating off the sides of the grill throughout the day then scraped off. The meat also had some pinkish meat in there. Gross!! This time I began chewing then spit out pieces of meat that looked like tentacles. I don't expect to get filet mignon in my burrito but at least use some decent meat like "diesmillo" (thin sliced chuck steak) which is what I use when I don't feel like paying $8lb for ranchera/flap meat. Anyway, this time I just had to call them and complain. They were nice enough to offer to give me a new burrito but no thank you.I would have preferred my money back but I am simply not returning there. I must say it was really good. Their chorizo is so juicy and so were their sopes. I haven't tried the rest of their menu and they charge you $.75 for using your debit/credit hence why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. I just recently moved to the Lynwood area and was looking for a good Mexican place and came across this institution. First time I went was so good and most importantly the service was great. I went around lunch time so 1pmish. I'm not sure if they change the cashier at a certain time but the earlier one is much nicer and attentive. Recently like today I came late night like around 8ish and the cashier is awful. She's a younger girl so I'm not sure how much experience she has so mind that. I came in and wasn't greeted nor asked what I would like, I was just expected to order which is fine but at least greet the customer. She just stands there like a log and isn't serviceable and customer friendly. Plus, once I got my food I asked for extra cucumber, fermented onions jalapeños and carrots and she was upset. I came to this Mexican Food joint last night. In search to try something new in the city I came across them. I walked inside an order a Carne Asada Torta. Honestly, it wasn't the best. I doubt it to be too plain. I had Salsa Roja to try to spice it up and open that hunger. It didn't work. The sauce was plain as well. Too much garlic in it. I really like the food at this restaurant but I have one gripe and it's their new requirement to show vaccination proof to dine in. They use the mandate that the Governor put on the city of Los Angeles to justify their requirement but the city of Lynwood is not part of the city of Los Angeles. This is what happens when people start creating their own COVID rules to impose on people that are ignorant of their laws. Food wise I still give it 5 stars but due to their unfounded policy I will no longer be dining there. I suggest that the restaurant manager look a little closer into that mandate.
