If you haven't had the tacos from La Vaquita, I recommend them 10000% they're a must, their potato is also great, I've never had any issues here and their salsa is always on point. Being that I grew up in this town, you already know I've tried pretty much every Mexican food place in town over the years, but since I now live out of town...I have to resort to having family tell me where the better places are nowadays. Well, on a recent trip down for some family business, we decided that we wanted some really good "street tacos" before heading back to Houston. My sister mentioned this place to me, so we stopped by to have a bite and we were not disappointed at all. We were in the neighborhood and ran across the add on FB. It's self proclaimed to be the number one Taco joint in San Benny so I had to drop on in! Tacos La Vaquita is a small taco joint a bit of ways from the highway but they're worth the small drive. The tacitos are small but they're cheap. You can get an order of 5 tacos with an order of beans and a drink for $6.50. That alone is hard to beat! The tacos are good. I'm a sucker for everything trompo so i was pleasantly surprised to see that they cook their trompo in the traditional manner on a spinning, roasting rack. It lends a better flavor when cooked this way and also allows for thinner slices of meat that'll melt in your mouth. If you do decide on eating the trompo tacos, your ganna want to order about 10 because these guys are extra small. The ranchero beans are killer delicious, do get a cup of those bad boys. read more

I don't know how this place has so many stars. I ordered the special is the day (mole). The rice and beans were cold, the chicken was warm from the top only. Cold on the one and the tortillas seemed like they were on the counter for days. When I tell my waitress she through it in the microwave for a few minutes and presto. Wow when I pay I ask for a detailed receipt I was told they don't provide one. Not only was I still hungry from not eating that awful food I didn't get reimbursed for the amount I paid. This used to be one of my favorite go to for tacos. Never had an issue up to this week. Not only did they waste my time but the owner was rude as heck. I called ahead of time to place my order since it was 9 breakfast tacos. I get there the tacos weren't ready, the owner was trying to over charge me (supposedly I ordered tacos with 3 ingredients opposed to the regular 2 ingredient tacos) even after I repeated more than once my order to the lady saying they were regular breakfast tacos she kept saying for this time I won't charge. Then they took another 10-15 minutes to give me my change and receipt only after I had to knock on the drive thru window to give me my change. So my mistake that I didn't check how many Tacos they had put in the bag but I left and as I was parting the tacos we were missing one. So I went back and told the owner ma'am y'all didn't give me one of the tacos. She proceeds by getting the bag, rolling her eyes and making sigh noises. As if she's bothered so st this point I'm already pissed and told her to give me my money back. She practically throws the money on my hand. I will not be going back anymore.
