The girl taking my order was unbelievably rude from the start. I ordered exactly what's written on their menu--a parrillada--and she acted like I was out of my mind. Instead of just ringing up what I asked for, she kept pushing a botana, which is something completely different, looking irritated the entire time. To make it even more ridiculous, I asked for chips because apparently an $8.99 order of guacamole does not come with tortilla chips and was told it'd be $4.50 if I wanted some. You've got to be joking... Between the dirty environment, the attitude, and the absurd upcharges, this restaurant is a hard never again. Save your money and your appetite bc there are way better places that actually care about their customers and their cleanliness. I'd go across the street to La Playa. They all wore matching black T-shirts. They refilled my drink and stopped by to ask if I needed anything else. Atmosphere: 5 out 5, not fancy but who cares. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. It feels like it's been there since 1972. Food: 3 out 5, although the items on my plate looked fresh and tasty, I felt only two items really stood out. The crispy taco was the best item on my plate. It was crunchy and delicious. The flour tortillas were freshly made and delicious. However, the beef fajitas were bland and chewy. The cheese enchiladas seriously lacked flavor. The cheese filling and enchilada sauce could and should have been better. The rice and refied beans were flavorless. Overall, the flavors were muted and I would say needed more seasoning. I wanted to give it a higher rating. I may try going again in the future but I'll order something different. They serve breakfast too.

Inside, it is very different from Isabel's, where they have plainer walls, a lower ceiling, and fluorescent lighting. Mexiquito has the darker woodwork, the green and red colors found on the flag of Mexico, and dimmer illumination that some Mexican locales have. Mexiquito is right on the main drag, so I've obviously driven past it on previous visits to the area. I had one of the combination platters with rice and refried beans. I asked for chicken as the filling for my items inside tortillas. Remember that, if you don't specify the filling, it may default to ground beef. The platter was plentiful and it was fairly tasty. They also bring on the chips and salsa. I had a cup of coffee and a glass of ice water. It's good that I asked for the ice water. Normally, it's to cool down from the coffee. Here, they only feature one type of salsa and it was too hot for my taste. Another reviewer mentions it, so I think I'm on track. I was not going to go with 5 stars to begin with, but only offering that one type of salsa with that much kick doesn't make me a fan. Dial it down a little to something more "middle of the road." Otherwise, if you like spicier salsa, Mexiquito is a reliable eatery with friendly personnel and fair prices.
