I just tried this place not too long ago and I have already become a regular here. I was very impressed by their quality of food and drinks. Their tacos are some of the best tacos I've ever had! Please try them, and thank me later. You'll become a regular too! ;) the service is kind and friendly. The place is little but the service is so fast that the size of the place doesn't even matter and once you get your food it matters even less. Game days the ambiance is just right for a pregame meal and drinks!

Really good tacos! I had the carne asada taco, the chicharrón taco, and the adobada vampiro. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The service was great, and the atmosphere made for a nice experience. I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Amazing service. You order at the counter, and the staff is very helpful with the menu. They offer great recommendations. Came here with a couple coworkers for lunch and all of our food came out quickly. Toppings bar to customize everything to your liking. The salsas and guacamole are very fresh. The adobo pork was my favorite! The cabeza was also amazing and juicy. Jamaica drink is sweet but refreshing. Casual spot.

Carne Asada Vampiro and a birria taco.

First time trying this spot! I was actually pulled in after watching a few TikTok videos that made it look so good, so I had to come check it out for myself. I'm going to be honest with my review, but with respect. I'm a small-town girl who lives close to the border, so I'm used to enjoying authentic carne asada and birria across the border -- that definitely influences my taste. On this visit, I ordered a carne asada vampiro, a birria taco, and an horchata. The birria, in my opinion, lacked a bit of flavor and could have used more seasoning. The salsa also needed a little more garlic for my liking. That said, the food was still good -- quita el antojo for sure! The horchata was on point -- very refreshing and delicious. The restaurant itself was very clean and offered both indoor and outdoor seating, which we loved. We didn't really interact much with the staff other than at the register and when picking up our food. Overall, a good experience!

This places serves the best quesa birria tacos!! Perfect spot to devour some tacos before the diamondbacks or suns game. It's walking distance from both stadiums. I love their salsa bar that has a variety of fresh salsa from mild to super spicy! Service is efficient and ambiance is great.

We stopped by this taco spot before a Diamondbacks game, and it ended up being the perfect choice. The location is incredibly convenient, literally just a short walk across the street from the stadium. so we grabbed some tacos, enjoyed a great meal, and headed right back to the game. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They offered helpful suggestions and made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. The salsa macha was a standout for me!! so much flavor!! and the guacamole was fresh and delicious. I also loved that they offer yellow corn tortillas, which made the tacos even better. Overall, great food, great people, and an unbeatable location. I'd definitely come back!

I completely understand why this has a 4.9 rating on Google and I will come back here every single time I am downtown. This was delicious and I would've eaten everything on the whole menu. I grabbed the queso Birria Taco as well as the quesadilla. The service was incredible and fast. The salsa station has an enormous amount of guacamole and extras for you to dress your tacos. I was there at the start of a basketball game, but I'm sure it gets crazy busy after.

We weren't planning to eat but the smell alone was too good to walk by without stopping. Menu is very limited, they technically have no veggie options but they said I could order whatever without the meat and provided a recommendation. I took their advice. My husband got the pork tacos. They have a top your own taco bar with many topping options. I topped mine with cabbage, onions, green salsa, guacamole and cucumber. I loved my tacos! So delicious and flavorful. Beans were nice. My husband liked his but said the meat was lacking in flavor. He wished there was more salt and seasoning. Ambiance was nice, I liked the music and plenty of seating- both indoor and outdoor. Bathrooms were very clean too which I appreciate. There is also a bar inside, although we didn't get any drinks, it's a nice touch. Finally, $31 for 6 tacos and a soda isn't too bad! I appreciate how wallet friendly this meal was. I would come again!

WOW I'm still thinking about these tacos because they were AWESOME. Ate here before a concert at the Suns Arena as it was walking distance. Tried the adobado, carne asada, and tacos dorados with birria. Our plates were CLEARED. Tacos were flavorful and with a hefty amount of meat for good price, also an unlimited salsa bar. It's located across from Chase Field. Place is clean and has nice bathrooms. Great service.

Awesome food! Friendly service! And free guacamole in the salsa bar! A friend and I are in downtown Phoenix for a conference and needed to grab lunch. Tacos Los Vales is a short walk from our hotel, and I'm so glad we visited this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the service was. It's a counter restaurant, but a worker came by to clear our dishes. We both ordered birria burritos, which were amazing! Lots of meat and cheese. Good flavors, and I like that the burritos were grilled. The salsa bar has pico de gallo, red, green, cucumbers, limes, radishes, and a huge bowl of guac. I'd go back just for the unlimited guac! Lots of tables for families and groups! The environment is chill and casual.

Cheap, delicious tacos with an extensive serve yourself topping bar. Got two birria tacos and a huge lemonade (I swear it was a liter!) for ~$11, and it was way more filling than I was expecting. They had plenty of seating and a few other people eating. I would absolutely come back here!

    Birria tacos with consume.
    Alyssa S.

Delicious! The birria was packed with a lot of flavors. Dipping it in the consume provided extra beefy flavor. They also provided grilled onions and a jalapeño. Not pictured is the sauce and condiment bar.

Birra tacos. Very meaty , crunchy and hot. I liked the carne asada one much more.

PERFECTO!!! Walked in and the whole place was cool, clean and smelled delicious! We were greeted right away with smiles and they were helpful on the menu. Pretty regular prices for how huge the salsa bar is. I ate way too many tacos and didn't feel bad at all. Lots of veggies, great guacamole and not heavy at all. 10/10!!

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

They make my tacos just how I ask every time I come, and I make changes! Most recently was last night after a rough rental car situation (avoid NU check those reviews eek) and the bartender was awesome. Quick service, friendly and took my order perfectly. Strawberry lemonade is my absolute favorite and if you know me I'm a lemonade girl. Tacos are perfect, the meat has virtually no weird fat on them like most tacos do. Both carne and chicken. Delicious. I'm here for five days this trip and I'm going back for sure, may end up at the Tempe location too. Since this establishment offered various types of tacos, we tried a bit of different kinds and overall enjoyed the differences in taste and texture. Specifically, I thought the sonoran taco was very innovative as it involved two kinds of salsa to provide a color juxtaposition, which also offered the carne asada different experiences in flavor. I also enjoyed the costra taco which was made with caramelized cheese over it, offering a pleasant fried flavor on the tortilla itself. The barbacoa taco was very juicy since the beef was very well-made. In contrast, the carne asada taco was a bit dry for some reason, and relied on the avocado salsa for both taste and juiciness. The fish taco didn't have enough fish, and had a lot of batter around the fish along with excessive pickled onion pieces. Since this spot is located in a very nice area, the arts district, I would recommend it to anyone that's around the area. It'd be a nice lunch after visiting the Phoenix Art Museum, which is only a mile away from here!

It was very busy and after ordering, I was standing with others waiting for my food when the other cashier called me up to check on me, thinking I hadn't figured out the process. He was very nice! The place was packed people finished quickly so getting a table wasn't hard. They also had someone cleaning up tables quickly. I got a carne asada caramelito and a carne asada taco. The caramelito continues to be my favorite of the two. Love the roasted salsa on the salsa bar though the hot red one is really good too! I do wish their guac salsa had more tang and salt. I find it bland. These are among my fave tacos but not my absolute so thus the 4 stars.

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
