I decided to go for their Birria, and honestly, it completely exceeded my expectations. If you see this truck, stop what you're doing and get in line! Let me get straight to the point: the Birria was SO. DAMN. GOOD. Seriously, some of the best I've had in a long time, especially from a mobile vendor. You could taste the freshness immediately. The meat was incredibly tender, flavorful, and had that deep, rich complexity you look for in perfectly cooked birria. It wasn't greasy, just pure, delicious flavor in every single bite. And the consumé? It was also very good! Rich, savory, and the absolute perfect companion for dipping. It wasn't just an afterthought; it complemented the birria beautifully and added another layer of deliciousness to the whole experience. What really sealed the deal for me, beyond the fantastic taste, was the value. They give you a really generous quantity of food - I was definitely full and satisfied afterward. Considering how fresh and high-quality everything tasted, the price felt absolutely perfect. It's becoming rare to find food that tastes this good, is made fresh, comes in a great portion, AND is priced so well. Los Morelos nails all of it. Pleasantly surprised by this food truck. I got 3 Birria tacos. The meat was tender and flavorful. The broth was also really good - tasty, not greasy and not overly salted. The tortillas were not soggy or greasy either. Service was good. Food came out quickly, but not too quickly where I'd be worried everything was being microwaved. I had seen this truck quite often in the FiDi and finally gave it a try one random lunch day. The lines here vary during lunch times, but mostly aren't ever extremely long. The menu was pretty typical of many of the tex-mex chains and trucks in the area so I ordered the chicken burrito bowl. All of the pricing for the food was on par with a lot of the other spots serving the same food, so no difference there. When I dug into the burrito bowl, the first thing I noticed was how neatly packed everything was in the tupperware that they serve it in. At first, the bowl didn't seem big, but as I dug and dug and dug deeper I realized how much food was actually in there! It was great that it was so packed as I love me a large meal! However, the burrito bowl was just OK to me. The ingredients didn't jump out at me, nor did the flavoring of the burrito bowl. There was also a ton of lettuce in it, which was too much for my liking. In my opinion, Chipotle's burrito bowl still rules them all, mostly because of their cilantro rice. It's tough to duplicate that type of success and Tacos Morelos gives it a nice run, but their burrito bowl falls short of the flavors and taste that Chipotle's burrito bowl doles out on a consistent basis. read more

Pretty decent sized chicken bowl You get: salad, rice, guacamole, sour cream, cheese pico, salsa, meat, corn - for about 8.50. which is a better deal than chipotle since over there guac is extra. Then again, this truck most likely does not use hormone free meats so there's that anyway - the taste quality is still up there. My office recently relocated to Front Street in FiDi and I was super disappointed in all the "fancy" food options available that are super expensive. Then as if the gods heard my prayers, I stumbled across all the food trucks near Hanover. Every day a new assortment of delicacies to try! Tacos Morelos however has me coming back for more! So far I've tried the tacos and quesadillas and the taco plate with rice and beans. It's all delicious and wonderfully seasoned. And cheap! For $10 a delicious filing lunch. Disclaimer: I am not sure if this is actually the food cart I went to because they all look similar. But this is the only "Mexican food truck" listed on Yelp that is close to my workplace. I ordered the "Special" which is some moon-shaped Mexican corn quesadilla stuffed with so-called "mushrooms" and spices. From what I've seen this looks like the same truck thats in Brooklyn. Food is made fresh while you wait. Tacos are a decent size and are individually wrapped with small paper plates. I like that idea. Flavors are good, a little over stuffed for my taste. I feel there is so much going on, you lose what type of taco it is. Pastor? Fish? Pollo? Still very very tasty. I've had the burrito and the quesadilla both were very good. I liked the burrito a lot better than Chipotle. I got the chorizo and it was very good and plenty of food for $8.50. The quesadilla was very tasty, I highly recommend the spicy chicken, solid! It was a bit messy and they didn't give a knife, no big deal. The quesadilla will cost ya $8, not bad for the area. Tacos are bit overpriced if you ask me at $3.50 and they look a bit puny especially when the other taco truck across the street has them for $2. But burrito wise, this is a good spot. Unfortunately, this truck drops down to 3 stars for me. They changed up their ingredients a bit and it just doesn't have the same appeal. They also stopped carrying their large corn tortillas for their quesadillas. That was the best thing on their menu and it was the corn tortilla that did it for me. It was lightly pan fried in oil and left on the grill to give it just enough of a crunch on the outside, but warm and soft in the inside. Now they only serve flour tortilla and I'm so sad that I didn't even have a chance to properly pay my respects to the corn tortilla quesadilla and enjoy it the way it deserved to be savored. It's now going to be my go to taco spot while at work. It's by no means the best tacos in New York, but it'll do for weekday lunch. This is for the truck parked on Old Slip and Water St. I've seen a truck on Wall and Water before, not sure if it's the same but this is re: the Old Slip one. Now, on to the food: AH-MAZE-ING! I had 3 tacos (fish, spicy pork, and steak) with hot sauce. Need that hot sauce because ppl usually make food around here bland for the FiDi crowd. Not Tacos Morelos! The fish was my favorite. By itself it was soooo flavorful. I wish I bought all fish tacos. The other 2 weren't bad, but paled in comparison unfortunately.
