However, our office catered lunch from here yesterday so I had to tap in. Nothing hits like some free food. Platters of lamb, chicken, salad, fries, rice, and salmon were laid out on our big rectangular table ready to get torched. I loaded up my plate with chicken, lamb, and salad. The salad included these little dolmades, which are just rice wrapped grape leaves but they are crack. I will lowkey eat anything wrapped in a grape leaf these days... I skipped on the salmon because of that viral Keith Lee video of the little parasite moving on his piece of sushi. I know this salmon is cooked and perfectly fine to eat, but I'm off all fish for a bit. I realized that 90% of the game is mental though. I gotta get out of my own head. The cashier and I developed a rapport, and I waved to the deli counter workers. Masha - their badass bodega cat - roams the store and relaxes on the sidewalk out front. There were numerous options, featuring both a set and daily special menu. For vegan food in the city, the prices at Green Gorilla Kitchen were relatively inexpensive. My chili cheese dog was bursting with flavor! The hot dog came topped with chili, cheese, and onions, all stuffed into a soft pretzel bun. The cut and preparation of the fries made them the perfect accompaniment to the hot dog. Making this experience even more enjoyable, the employees of this food truck were helpful, hard-working, and extremely friendly! I definitely plan on returning during my next trip to the city!

I had the plantain bun with the beyond burger, it was amazing! The plantain burger comes with a different patty/burger, so I made a substitution. The sauces are great. Everything they serve is non GMO except for the Impossible burger which is made using genetically modified yeast. They have a their own burger (which I heard tastes great), the beyond burger (which I had and tasted great) and the Impossible burger which is GMO and tested high for glyphosate so personally, I wouldn't eat that one.

My friend had the steak sandwich, flank steak, swiss cheese, and roasted red peppers with a Peruvian aji verde sauce. She really enjoyed it. The only comment she had was the sauce was a bit herb heavy, but in all honesty neither one of us knows what Peruvian aji verde sauce really is. Because they were out of fries. This was especially unfortunate, because these onion rings were particularly bad. There were four or five of these massive things sitting in a brown paper bag. Before the grease ate through the entire bag, I opened it up to find the big brown rings of batter with tiny slivers of onions somewhere deep inside. I took one bite and was pretty much done with them. On to the Cheesesteak ($6.50 for the smaller 6 inch size), things were much better. I went with White American Cheese (as opposed to Whiz) and added the onions (free of charge), and left it at that (kept it classic without choosing any of the add-ons at 75 cents each). It did actually have quite a delicious flavor, and was reminiscent of the taste you get in Philly, if not as good. The bread was a major problem as it was way too soft, but not soft in the good chewy way that the bread usually is. My co-workers followed suite with a changes of add-ons. Once I got to eat the sandwich...I was a bit nonplussed. I guess I had been building it up in my head for so long. It wasn't bad, and I enjoyed it, but it was a bit bland. To the chagrin of any true cheesesteak purist, I took some of my co-worker's dipping sauce from her onion rings and spread it on my sandwich to give it a little bit more flavor. Still! The meat was tender, as were the onions and peppers. The roll held up well and was soft and chewy. The onion rings, actually, were quite phenomenal!
