I really enjoyed the food here! For the quality and quantity for its price, you really can't beat it. I think I may have found my New Mexican joint in the JC area. I was a bit skeptical at first since they have such a large menu (usually not a good sign) but I was very pleasantly surprised. We ordered via DoorDash on Cinco de Mayo since it's the law to eat Mexican food on that day. We placed the order at around 5:30 and the quoted time was an hour but it didn't actually get here until 7:30. So that was a little annoying but I also wasn't that mad because everybody is probably trying to order some tacos that day. Here is everything we ordered: Fried Pork Burrito - this was only okay. When it said fried pork, I was thinking fried pork chunks but it was more like pulled pork, which I don't love Beef Tongue Torta (Portuguese bread with refried beans, mayonnaise, jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and avocado - served with your choice of chips, salad, or french fries) - this was by far both mine and my husband's favorite. They don't skimp on the lengua here and I liked the kick that the pickled jalapenos gave it. I of course opted for the french fries, which reminded me of McDonald's fries Al Pastor Quesadilla - this was another banger. You can't really go wrong with a quesadilla. Meat + cheese + carbs? What's not to love? Plus we had some leftover for lunch the next day Next time, I won't be ordering for delivery on Cinco de Mayo. Wow! I must say, this place is amazing. As a SoCal native, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Mexican food since it's the cuisine I grew up on. After being in JC for over two years and exploring Mexican food spots in Jersey and NYC, this place finally checks the box. I'm surprised this place has so many poor reviews. I ordered through Uber eats and it arrived very quickly. I got the red chicken enchiladas, a shredded chicken taco and chips and salsa as well as a side of nacho cheese. The chicken in the tacos was a little dry but had great flavor. Kind of like a Tinga. The enchiladas were pretty spicy, but I liked that. Beans and rice were also solid. I'm sure the nacho cheese sauce came out of a can but that was great as well. Stopped going here because they messed up my order then lied about it. I ordered pick up and once I got there they told me they had accidently given my order to the wrong person, but they were coming back to return it. I asked if I could get a completely new order instead, since I didn't know who had it and what they might have done with it. The restaurant agreed and I came back later. I asked again if this was new and they looked me straight in the eye and said yes, but once I got home I opened it and the tacos were cold. It was really annoying because it was a mistake on their part. I understand messing up, but just fix it rather than try to trick me. Went with the enchiladas en salsa verde. The presentation and the portion were good, the taste of the green sauce was good a little too spicy for a green sauce but tolerable. Where I had a problem was with the rice and beans, the rice was stale and the beans were very acidic (like when they are going bad) very disappointed since I was really looking forward to have a good meal. I understand that rice and beans are made in big batches, but please make sure you are tasting the food before you are serving it to customers. I will give this place another try just to see how they can redeem themselves, I know they have a truck in downtown and I've heard many good things about. Next time in will with tacos and torta. Very glad to have this new little spot as an addition to Hamilton Park food options :) We popped in on a whim Sunday evening and got lucky with one of the 3 tables outside. Food was delicious, service was excellent. We had the "Mexican" quesadilla which I'm specifying because it's different from the other portion of the menu which has more American style quesadillas. As another reviewer stated my delivery never showed up. That's not exactly true; it showed up an hour and 15 minutes after it was supposed to have gotten here. By then I had already given up and reheated some day old pizza for myself and my family. The food that did arrive (as I said almost an hour and 15 minutes late) included a stone cold quesadilla, flattened and soggy nachos, and the only thing that could be salvaged, an order of fajitas. I did try the fajitas the next day and the rice was bland and the meat so rubbery I could barely get it down. Like the other reviewer I called at least a dozen times and the phone just continue to ring or it went to a voicemail that I'm going to assume people don't monitor as I never got a callback. I did receive an email response asking what my address was which I replied to and then never heard from again. They got my $50 and I'll just have to write that off I guess. Their menu is so vast! Tasty and worthy lunch spots around Exchange Place are hard to come by. The options are very limited. However, Tacos Victoria is an awesome choice. From the burritos to fajitas, there is so much to choose from. I ordered the shrimp burrito bowl. It was a fulfilling and delicious lunch. The shrimp was amazingly seasoned and seared. Terrible all the way around. First of all my food was left in front of my door, no call and if he knocked i didn't hear it. Almost an hour went by and I called and asked about my food and I was told it was at my door. I ordered tacos with only meat and cheese. The taco meat had carrots and peas in it and the shells were literally rubbery. Also ordered chicken fajitas. The chicken was ok but we got the same rubbery taco shells instead of the normal tortilla shells. I asked for cheddar cheese on the side and they gave just enough for 1 fajita. The cheese quesadilla was $7 (via uber eats) and it was a big tortilla folded in half with the smallest amount of shredded cheese. I shouldn't be able to tell it's shredded cheese because my cheese should be melted completely but I was pretty annoyed to find out I paid as much as I did for what I imagine the product cost was. The side of rice was okay. It honestly tasted reheated and old. The other meal was the burrito, which she said she enjoyed. This is real authentic Mexican feel good food. Big on taste and filling. This place is 2 blocks from my house so I've eaten here 3 times this week. The food is that good and the portions are huge. The menus has a lot of options and everything is always hot and fresh. The first time we came I had the combo fajitas with steak, chicken and shrimp it was so much food I didn't finish it all. This is my favorite no frills Taco spot in downtown Jersey City. The quality of the meat in each taco was excellent and far exceeding my expectations. I've eaten at Orale, Tacoria, and Gringos...and none of these places match the quality of these tacos. The onions and cilantro are thinly cut/diced to avoid biting on thick pieces; I prefer that in my pico de gallo instead. I rarely write reviews and was compelled to do so for this place!! I would only say that the only other Mexican place that compares to this quality is Taqueria. My recommendation is to try the cajun steak and picadillo tacos first. I will come back to try the burrito and enchiladas soon. The five stars is warranted for the food alone and not because it's a scene or party place. Ordered through Grubhub at 740pm. Estimated delivery time was 825-835pm. Tracking my order to see status and at 850pm still nothing so call the restaurant. After being placed on hold for 5 mins and calling back I was told that the food left already and should arrive in 5 minutes. 30 mins goes by and nothing. Contact grub hub they said to call restaurant. At 930pm I call restaurant multiple times and no answer a few times, get placed on hold and forgotten about 2 times and finally get someone on the phone at 945. Restaurant tells me "oh yes my order is there but still needs to go out so maybe another 15 mins". I discussed my frustration as someone told me an hour ago it already went out but then was told by the restaurant "oh yeah that was a mistake sorry". Meanwhile, Grubhub is also trying to contact the restaurant and because they won't answer the phone and the answering service tells them that the restaurant is closed now, grub hub automatically cancels my order for a refund after I told them please do not cancel. The restaurant calls me back (after just telling me my food is due to go out in 5 mins) that now because my order was canceled it may be another Week Week 45 mins or I can just reorder it. I said I will absolutely hnot be doing that because I did not cancel the order, which I was then placed on hold and then hung up on by the restaurant. I would like to also make note that I am 39 weeks pregnant and this is the number one way to really piss off a pregnant lady. I Will never be ordering from this restaurant again, due to the terrible communication, customer service, and blatant multiple rude workers I encountered. read more
