Delicious and fun experience. It was PACKED, but service was fast and the quesadillas were homemade and fresh. I got the flour tortillas which were delicious. Just a note that there are no seats, but stand up tables available. And the salsa is SPICY. Definitely authentic and delicious and reasonably priced.

    Adobada and carne asada

Why did we wait until the end our trip to try this place?!? The adobada (marinated pork) is what everyone is talking about and as they should, it was so delicious. You can choose between flour or corn tortilla. It has a little bit of heat so be prepared. I also got a carne asada which was really good but if I had a choice, I would definitely get the adobada taco again. Now the downside, this place was packed even at 10:30pm. Don't be fearful of the line though as it goes pretty fast. Definitely worth the wait. At this one to list when I go back to NYC. They have several locations.

If you're visiting New York, this place is a must-try! They have multiple locations throughout the city, and while there's usually a line and it's often busy, it's absolutely worth the wait. I tried the chicken, pork, and beef tacos, and every single one was packed with flavor. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Each taco had its own unique flavor, and it was hard to pick a favorite. I loved it so much that I ended up going back a second time during my trip. When a city has endless food options and you return to the same spot twice, you know it's good. Highly recommend!

Los Tacos #1 In Times Square, we filed in after our Broadway Show and so did everyone else, extreme chaos, but Los Tacos No 1 pumped out the food and got it done. Carna Asada Tacos are a must, their best hands down Carna Asada Quesidilla is a larger version of the tacos, but has a cheese base. Bottled Coke Available with real cane sugar Los Tacos No 1 is a must and a great choice not only after a Broadway Show

You know when you're a foodie and you go to a restaurant but forget to take pictures of the food? That's a testament as to how delicious these tacos are! A late night street taco will always hit the spot! This place is a well oiled taco machine! We walked in and there was a long line, but it went super quick! The place was bright and clean and the menu is straight-forward and easy to see. We ordered and immediately told the assembly line what we wanted on our tacos. The tacos came out quick, fresh, and oh-so-delicious! Of course, there was a salsa bar to one side and soda tub on the other side. It's standing room only but it's perfect for eating a quick street taco and then heading off on your next NYC adventure!

Finally tried this place after like 6 months of wanting to but being deterred by long lines. Went around 4pm on a Sunday and line was actually short! Tried one of each meat - got a carne asada taco, a pollo asada taco, and an adobada quesadilla - everything was delicious, and that adobada was one of the best things I've ever eaten!

If you haven't eaten here- what see you doing in NYC?! It's an experience you need! Be prepared for a line when you arrive and a full restaraunt at all times. With no seats you'll have to stand to eat your taco. Watching the workers here is inspiring as it runs like a well oiled machine. They truly move through the line as quickly as they can. Also- a proper Coke with your tacos! A need and so so yummy.

This chain is everywhere in NYC- I never tried it because I don't expect much from chains but this restaurant surprised me! The ladies at the counter were kind, as well as the men that prepare the tacos. Once you order, you give the men the receipt and they prepare your order. The location has tables to stand on and eat for a quick meal- and I was definitely guilty of devouring these! I got 2 quesadillas- one with chicken and the other one with beef. I have to say that both were delicious!! They meats were full of flavor- and the toppings complimented the meal well. Having 2-3 quesadillas would be enough for dinner for me. I felt satisfied with the amount that I ordered.

This has been one of my favorite spots to stop whenever I'm in the city. Line always looks long but it goes fast. Make sure you have your order ready because the ordering process is quick! Load up your tacos "con todos" the Al pastor pork here is so good.

Short on time and want to eat before a show? This was us last Saturday. This was down the street from &Juliet so it was ideal for us. There was a line outside the door but it was moving. Inside there are 2 cashiers taking orders and you are given a receipt to hand to the chef. We ordered the chicken tacos, steak tacos and a nopal plate with chicken. They were all delicious but a bit spicy for our liking so I would recommend getting something to drink. There is a salsa bar and bar standing only to encourage to eat and go. Employees were actively keeping the dining area clean so toss your trash when you are done. It is certainly bustling!

It was not bad.... Got asada and adobada tacos and quesadillas. The meats were good and sauces were ok, pico de gallo was nice. The quesadilla was not what I expected... it is most like the taco, with a slightly larger tortilla, and possibly a layer of cheese--not sure (check my pic, can you guess which is the taco and which is the quesadilla? There's 2 tacos and 2 "quesadillas" in the pic). Overall it was not bad and I might come back

Heard about this place through friends and had been bookmarked for a while. Reminds me a lot of Tacos El Gordo back in California. Being from California we take our tacos kinda seriously lol and my husband is Mexican so we don't play around. Line was long but they moved fast. Eating was stressful as there isn't any seating and you just gotta eat at the standing tables amongst everyone else. Can't go wrong with anything but Adobada my fave. Very similar to Al pastor. The orders come all combined and chaotically but we ended up with 1-2 extra tacos and my husband was thrilled. Just make sure they got your order right (keep your receipt).

Stopped by Los Tacos No. 1 since it's such a popular spot and there was a steady line of people waiting to order. The line moved quickly and the staff working there were very kind and efficient, which made the experience smooth. I ordered a carne asada taco and a pollo asado taco on corn tortillas. They were good, but in my opinion just okay. With how much hype this place gets, I was expecting something a little more memorable. The space does have seating, which is nice if you want to sit down for a quick bite after ordering. Overall, it's a decent spot if you're in the mood for tacos and want something quick while exploring the area. Personally, I didn't quite get the hype, but it's still worth trying if you're nearby.

Ask the Community - Los Tacos No.1

    Is there any seating there?

    No, standing room only.

    Is it halal?

    No. Pork as well.

    Is the restaurant egg-allergy safe?

I wouldn't think so as it's an open grill, but I would contact the restaurant directly if you need an answer asap.

    Is it accessible?

Yes. But the tables to eat are high. So you'd have to order to take out I think.

Sounds like the beans and tortillas are not vegan if made with pork lard?

If you looking for vegan that wouldn't be the place to go

Are the beans cooked with lard?

The beans and flour tortilla are made with pork lard.

Will they give you 'to-go' containers? I want to grab and take on the subway, so I can eat at home.

From what we saw, there was just foil to throw over your plate as we took our food to go twice during our stay.

Are you going to bring back online ordering to any of your locations?

Can you still eat at the counter inside?

Hi K.F. Yes, you can eat at the counter inside. We hope to see you soon!

Do i have to be vaccinated to dine-in?

No you don't have to be vaccinated

    Are there any delivery options?

Ughh unfortunately no. I wish they would deliver again since I work in the area

Does anyone know what cheese they use? I love the quesadillas there. Wondering what type of cheese it is

Hi Kevin. We use Monterey Jack cheese. Thanks for your support and we hope to see you soon!

Does this place offer halal meat?

No. It's a taco joint only

How much is sales tax here?

    8.875%

Does each taco come as one taco? At Chelsea piers location you get two?

Any location only gives one taco. Each taco is charged. Most people can't eat just one so always get two or three.

Can you eat inside standing up ? Do they have outside tables?

They have a few outside tables and plenty inside.

What's parking like here? will I need to pay to park? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg just to grab my tacos to go.

Don't even think about parking here. Have someone go inside while the other drives around the block till they have the food.

Can you get a less spicy taco?

    yes, of course

    Is this place cash only?

Nope, I paid with a card.

Do the adobada tacos have a dairy based sauce on top? From pictures it looks like they're topped with a whiteish sauce.

    Hahahaha that's just guacamole

This location is convenient to Grand Central, Bryant Park, & Times Square. I was excited to find them after a getting off the Metro North. Unfortunately, the two times that I've eaten there hasn't been great, compared to their other locations in NoHo & Union Square. I'm not sure if the more touristy ambiance & customers makes a difference. First visit got the Pork Adobada Taco ($5-ish). It's similar to Al Pastor (even served with a few pieces of pineapple) but spicy. It's pork marinated in an adobo sauce made from dried red chiles (like guajillo or ancho), vinegar, garlic, and spices. The corn tortilla was very fresh & good but the pork was SO spicy. Some kind of chili oil was drizzled on, in, within, at the bottom. It comes with a sort of green crema. I barely finished - thought it was a joke or something. The second visit I got the Adobada (requested Zero spice) & a Chicken taco. The pork meat was delicious & reminded me of the first time I had Los Tacos No. 1. The chicken seemed like dark meat & was either over-marinated, slightly undercooked, or on its way out? resulting in weird mushy, slightly liver-like consistency. I even picked through the pieces to check for pinkness...the meat was just dark with little flavor. It came with a dollop of guacamole that didn't have much flavor. The corn tortillas also seemed slightly mealy/mushy & underdone. They weren't airy & slightly puffed as usual. I'll probably go back because their location and cost is convenient. But have to make sure the pork has No Spice & not sure how to ask for "done" tortillas. There's always a line at Los Tacos but it moves fast. The condiments & radishes, limes are always fresh. The staff is always pleasant & work quickly customizing your taco, wiping down the All White! hightops & refilling napkins. Don't think there's a restroom FYI.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall.
