Overall, a really great experience! Service was great-line went quick, food was served hot and fresh, and the workers were all so friendly. We were just looking for some tacos and stumbled upon this place and we're so glad we did! We're from the west coast and they surpassed any expectations we had. With the tortillas all fresh and made by hand, the grilled to perfection carne, and toppings of guacamole, salsa, cilantro, and onion all blended together so well. If you're in the area definitely put it on your agenda! There was a line but it goes quick and the food is worth the wait! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a casual, standing only dining area but the whole concept makes sense.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For a quick in-and-out taco "stand" but in restaurant form! If I'm ever back on East Coast I will be making another trip here!

Always solid. The meat is flavorful, with the perfect proportion of toppings. Got the steak and pork tacos, but all are good. Long line at ~6:00 pm on a Tuesday, but it moved quickly. We were in and out within 45 minutes. The tougher part is grabbing a spot to eat at, but luckily for us someone left as we were waiting for our tacos. You order your tacos first at the cashier, then take your receipt to the people making them (may be another line here).

Tacos are so good I forgot to take a picture before getting a bite. They are flavorful, juicy and filling. This is a top taco spot so it moves quick and you get your ticket to place the order at the front but everyone is helpful and kind. Staff is great and want to make sure your order is correct. Restaurant is clean but again busy.

Carne asada tacos! Amazing! Best staff ever all so kind and helpful. Great Mexican fast food. Pay first, show them your receipt and they'll help you out. The little cart on the side to get toppings too. Great experience.

So my 2nd time to try this place since it's so highly rated for NY. It's good don't get me wrong. But again, being from Cali, we have some of the best tacos around. So for these, they were ok. This location always seem to have a line because of the location. You wait and then you order. They need to have more descriptions up before you get to the register. By the time you get to register, I didn't have time to read everything before I had to order since there was a line behind me. You get your ticket and then give it to someone preparing the food and then you wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then you have to find a place to get it, good luck when it's busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also grab your salsas. Worth a try since it's a stable.

Got there around 9 PM for a late-night snack. There's always a line outside! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not a sit-down spot, but we actually loved the standing table vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tacos look small, but they're surprisingly filling. Great spot to grab a bunch of tacos and walk around Times Square right after--it's literally a minute away! If you're exploring Times Square and get hungry, definitely check this place out.

We needed a snack while waiting to get our hotel room. There was a line out the door. I'll say that the steak was one of the best steak tacos I've ever had! But, be prepared to hustle. After you pay, you give your ticket to the cooks. But there is no orderly line, it's a rush of humans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also no seating but there are counters to stand at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you have someone else with you; divide and conquer. One of you wait for the food, the other start looking for a space to eat. I'm glad we tried it but I def prefer to sit and eat these days!

The tacos at Los Tacos No.1 are my favorite in NYC! My favorite are the Al pastor and pollo! You can mix and match as you order by the single tacos and can tell them which kind of taco shell you want (corn or flour). There is usually a line to order and limited space to eat inside (it is also standing only), so keep that in mind when you dine!

Line was quick and it's super cool how you get to watch them make it. The food was hot and fresh and lives up to all the hype!

If you're in New York, you HAVE to try Los Tacos. We got the chicken tacos, and I honestly regret not ordering more than two! They were easily some of the best tacos I've ever had. And that green sauce--I don't even know what it is, but it is absolutely amazing and takes the tacos to another level. So flavorful and delicious. Be prepared for a long line, as it's usually very busy, but the food is 100% worth the wait. One of my favorite food stops in NYC. Highly recommend!

If you told me the best taco I've had in a couple of years, would be in insane TIMES SQUARE/ Theatre district, I would. believe you. It was. Line out the door and around the corner, but the well regimented staff had a perfect routine, system to churn out perfectly seasoned, cooked, Priced tacos as efficiently as I've seen any over crowded place do it. In and out in 10 and satisfied with our tacos.

Delicious and fun experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was PACKED, but service was fast and the quesadillas were homemade and fresh.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the flour tortillas which were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just a note that there are no seats, but stand up tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the salsa is SPICY. Definitely authentic and delicious and reasonably priced.

Coming from AZ these are AMAZIN!! I put nothing on the tacos !!! The meat was juicy and the young men make your order are fast off memory ! I literally gave him my ticket and watched him take 3 more orders. This is my go to when staying in midtown now from now on as a first time visitor to New York

Ask the Community - Los Tacos No.1

    Is there any seating there?

    No, standing room only.

    Is it halal?

    No. Pork as well.

    Is the restaurant egg-allergy safe?

I wouldn't think so as it's an open grill, but I would contact the restaurant directly if you need an answer asap.

    Is it accessible?

Yes. But the tables to eat are high. So you'd have to order to take out I think.

Sounds like the beans and tortillas are not vegan if made with pork lard?

If you looking for vegan that wouldn't be the place to go

Are the beans cooked with lard?

The beans and flour tortilla are made with pork lard.

Will they give you 'to-go' containers? I want to grab and take on the subway, so I can eat at home.

From what we saw, there was just foil to throw over your plate as we took our food to go twice during our stay.

Are you going to bring back online ordering to any of your locations?

Can you still eat at the counter inside?

Hi K.F. Yes, you can eat at the counter inside. We hope to see you soon!

Do i have to be vaccinated to dine-in?

No you don't have to be vaccinated

    Are there any delivery options?

Ughh unfortunately no. I wish they would deliver again since I work in the area

Does anyone know what cheese they use? I love the quesadillas there. Wondering what type of cheese it is

Hi Kevin. We use Monterey Jack cheese. Thanks for your support and we hope to see you soon!

Does this place offer halal meat?

No. It's a taco joint only

How much is sales tax here?

    8.875%

Does each taco come as one taco? At Chelsea piers location you get two?

Any location only gives one taco. Each taco is charged. Most people can't eat just one so always get two or three.

Can you eat inside standing up ? Do they have outside tables?

They have a few outside tables and plenty inside.

What's parking like here? will I need to pay to park? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg just to grab my tacos to go.

Don't even think about parking here. Have someone go inside while the other drives around the block till they have the food.

Can you get a less spicy taco?

    yes, of course

    Is this place cash only?

Nope, I paid with a card.

Do the adobada tacos have a dairy based sauce on top? From pictures it looks like they're topped with a whiteish sauce.

    Hahahaha that's just guacamole

I also tried the carne asada tacos, which were good but definitely overshadowed by the adobada. Each taco came topped with onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa. We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. The steak was tender and had pretty good flavor. I just wish there was more. Especially considering the price. Certainly not a bad quesadilla but the value wasn't quite there. I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
