*Edit* As of today, Kickback Coatings has either met or refunded all of their contractual obligations to me. Therefore, I would rate the final product they have given me as adequate. I have had 3 rifles cerakoted by them. I have purchased a rifle and a pistol from them. If you really read the reviews by some of these people, they get the name wrong, complain about issues that EVERY company has had over the past few years (delays), I have never had a problem with them and Shawn has always spoke to me if there was an issue with timeliness. They have now taken over Get Some Guns & Ammo, and thank goodness, because that was a terrible company that upcharges EVERYTHING. Smaller companies always have higher prices and start off with issues and delays, most of these people are just looking for reasons to complain. read more

I purchased a firearm from Tactical Penquin in Riverdale, Utah. This is my first and last time purchasing anything from this store. I paid for cerakoting and engraving. I gave them a picture with the requested pattern. They assured me the engraving was very easy and the gun would be ready in a couple of weeks. The cerakote color was great but the engraving was Poor & Unacceptable. It took almost 6 weeks to get the gun and when I received it, part of the requested engraving was missing. It took another two weeks and several trips to the store to get the engraving finished. When I received the finished product, it was a mismatched design and nothing near what I had been promised. While discussing the poor engraving with the manager at the counter, the owner came to the counter angry and horribly irate. He claimed the gun was now a piece of art, and that I shouldn't complain about small discrepancies in their work. I obtained a refund for the transaction, but the owner, Shawn, berated us and stated he would never do any work for us again. As I was leaving, even the staff apologized for the owner's outburst. We were polite and patient throughout entire transaction. I will go elsewhere for my firearm purchases, and you should too. read more

The new ownership of Tactical Penguin is top notch. I was looking at a new pistol and they met me at an outdoor range to test it out, plus they brought other options to compare against. Had an optic mounted in 30 minutes and brought it to another location for pick up the next day. Was able to zero on the new AccuShoot system which was super fun. I would not recommend this company and here's why: 1. I had two projects done through them. The first was an M&P slide to get milled for an RMR and cerakoted. They quoted me a 30 day turn around time and factored in the cost of the M&P draft in to my price, an extra $120. Not my fault that I choose not to own a Glock, but whatever. So 30 days go by and my slide isn't ready. I ask what's the holdup: the machinist was sick, we're backed up, it's the holidays, etc etc. we'll get to it next week. A week goes by. Still not ready. Try calling. No answer. (This is a reoccurring theme) another week goes by, actually go in and talk to the owner. "Oh sorry, things came up, I've talked to him, blah blah." At the 55 day mark they sent me a picture of my slide and completed. The RMR on the slide isn't mine. "Oh sorry, the machinist mixed up, not our fault". I finally got my slide back with my RMR at exactly the 60 day mark. I asked for a black/dark grey battleworn and I received a light gray. At this point I'm just happy to have my slide back. 2. The second project was a custom project for a Sharps Bros Hellbreaker that I gave them permission for their artistic freedom. I have them some suggestions of the color schemes that I liked and let them have it. Again the project went over due and they continue to not answer their phone during their stated business hours outside of lunch. 3. Communication. I have the phone records to prove that over the course of three months and 30 attempted phone calls, I was actually able to talk to a person exactly twice. 4. Timeliness. Forget about it. Just add 45 days to whatever due date they give you and forget that you have a project with them. 5. Quality of work. It's decent but don't expect Blown Deadline quality of work. read more

I did business with Shawn a few years ago and upon following up realize my review never posted so here it goes again. We had three guns and our friend had a gun done by him. Three guns total. Our guns were an AR 15 and a Barretta px4 storm and a glock. The AR 15 was to be a snow camo and the Barretta was to have a jungle type Kriptec design on it. The glock was one standard color but after a short period the cerikiote began rub off like wet paint. We went in with photos for the AR 15 of exactly what I wanted and he wrote down the ideas for the Barretta. It took months for the job to be done and when it was done I was unhappy with the design. Instead of a snow camo he had done plus and negative signs all over the gun, it looked like a toy. The baretta also looked NOTHING like described. It was almost as if he didn't listen at all to what we said forgot because it took months to do and just winged it. On his site it said 100% customer satisfaction guarantee so I said I wasn't satisfied and he became agressive with me and rude. Said he was going to "stick to his guns on this one" and wasn't going to fix them and refused to release our guns until we paid the remainder 800$ (we had put a good down payment on them as well). At this point our lawyer became involved. It took over a year to get our guns back and eventually we settled and paid to get them back because he had them in his custody for over a year without our consent. We had three guns done by him, all three and our friends 1911 wouldn't fire or work properly. The glock would jam with every shot. He cerikoted the INSIDE of the guns leaving parts to not function and we had to have them all repaired. This was the longest most heartbreaking process I ever went through. This man was disgusting and disrespectful to me. Threatening to me and giving me a look like he wanted to kill me whenever he saw me. He is unprofessional and when called out he gets defensive and agressive and by no means should be running any type of business. All I can say with that attitude he won't last long with any business he tries to run. I'm sure this will be commented on by him saying I'm a scammer or just wanting google points or never stepped in the store like he managed to do with all the previous bad reviews but I have a built case that was put together against him and plenty of proof to his actions. He is a crook and has zero idea what he is doing, at least that is how I felt after the whole escapade. Save yourself the trouble, find someone better. read more

Final product turned out awesome, turn around was a little slow. I was quoted 30 days and it took a little over 2 months, but my pistol looks like a new one. I had my cz82 coated with titanium on the frame and flat black on the slide and small parts, finished with walnut grips and wow. I plan on using them again, just be patient and you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY. I ordered an AR lower, and was told it would ship in "a few days". 2 weeks later, nothing. Asked for an update and tracking number. Silence. Checked back another week later. Received a response with some BS excuse about lost paperwork, and said they would send it right away. Fast forward 2 more weeks. Nothing. Asked for an update and they said it was sent "last week". 2 more weeks later...NOTHING. Asked for an update. Was sent a photo of the USPS tracking ticket. Turns out it was sent 2 days prior to my final email. I finally received my lower, and it is a nice product. But I will NEVER order through Kickback again. A "few day" order turned into almost a 2 month ordeal. He clearly didn't have any product in stock, took payment, and lied about delays. Just be honest about timing. I didn't need the lower and would have happily waited for it. Customer service 101--FAIL. Dealing with customers like this will quickly result in no repeat business--leading to GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.
