UPDATE: I went back and spent another 12 hours over 3 days training with Steve. To say i was surprised at my progression was an understatement. Through Steve's great mix of coached support, and pushing me to go beyond what i even thought i could manage, i walked away amazed at what we'd accomplished. As mentioned, Steve's ability to know what i was doing even when he could barely see me doing it was outstanding. I left feeling i'd accomplished way beyond what my expectations were and the sense of self confidence in my ability was just off the charts. Took the Gun fighting 101 class. Let me say I got one heck of a workout. Stephen is an intense guy who is serious about his teachings. He really wants you to be the best that you can be. He covers safety and stresses the importance of it. All in all I had so much fun and was well worth the money. Do bring plenty of water. I took the private handgun class, which I highly recommend. Stephen is the ultimate professional who has passion for teaching and patience that I probably tested. I learned how to shoot (with lots of room to improve), but even more important I learned about the culture of safety and responsibility that goes with shooting and gun ownership. Stephen is extremely knowledgeable and taking his classes has certainly taught me much, as well as helped me realize how little I know. As is usually the case in the industry, he's a no nonsense type of guy and that tends to scare some folks. Personally, I very much welcome his attitude and oversight as it insures as best anyone can that his classes will be in a very controlled environment and as safe as can be considering it involves some inexperienced individuals with firearms and live rounds, and live firing. If you're looking to take his class or any of his many classes I suggest you listen, pay attention, follow instructions to perfection or as best as you can, and don't be offended if he decides to teach you more than you know, after all, that's the reason you signed up in the first place. Took the Concealed Handgun Tactics & Safety class and I couldn't be happier with the knowledge and real hands on training that was offered. Proper training with firearms is truly necessary when one decides to carry in everyday life and TacticalU teaches the mindset, situations and understanding of safety and proficiency with a firearm that are required. TacticalU provided a friendly and clear understanding of the fundamentals with fun and challenging drills that will push your limits. Many of us are under the misconception that by simply owning a gun and firing at the range once-in-a-while is all we need for peace of mind... I mean, wouldn't that be nice if it were that simple? This course will quickly make you realize that without the proper techniques, the gun and ammo is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. I thought I was a decent shot and pretty comfortable with my handling techniques but thanks to Stephen, I now have a much better understanding as to not only "how" to properly handle my weapon, but equally importantly "why". Independent of your experience level, you'll either erase bad habits or get set on the correct path by the end of this course. Stephen also follows up with homework, additional info and video from your session so you won't walk out the door and forget everything you learned. Wow what a disappointment this place is. I have looked online and read about their courses and was very interested and then a few weeks later they were on Groupon. I bought one immediately and was excited about it. I called a few times and sent an email to ask them to contact me. I got a call back that night from a super rude guy. As soon as I mentioned I had purchased a groupon he just got nasty. He told me that people from groupon do not follow directions and waste their time. He said I was supposed to go online and sign up however the directions from groupon didn't state that. The directons said to email, go to website or call and provided a number. He was wrong and went on to tell me that groupon people never take any of the other classes because they aren't discounted. I tried to ask him about some info on the other classes I was interested in, which I would have happily paid regular price to attend. He told me that this call was after work hours and that he didn't have time for talk, they would explain more when I would be there. I sent my email with the requested info as they asked and a week later still no contact or response to arrange my enrollment in a class. I was treated like a nobody because I bought a Groupon! Just so we are clear, I would have taken at least three other classes if I liked the place and their trainers. After a week I contacted Groupon about my experience and they canceled and refunded my purchase. I am a very intelligent person and consumer, I was spoken down to by some guy who has to sell his classes at half price on the Internet to get people in. It's pretty sad to treat people like that when they are genuinely interested in building their knowledge of tactical self defense and voluntarily paying for it.
