I would have been the first to recommend them with ***** if it were not for the last well, which soured all the good will they had built with us. On every job, I deferred to Rick Raab's recommendations, never tried to negotiate down the price, paid immediately on receipt of invoice. This last job to renew the pump and galvanized pipe that were failing was no exception. Unfortunately, substituting PVC for the galvanized never worked, it failed two times. To Rick's credit, he replaced the PVC with galvanized at his expense, he never asked me to cover any of the materials or labor. Then the new variable speed pump he installed to replace the traditional Gould failed. That is where things broke down between us. I offered to pay for a new Gould pump but they ghosted me. I am left holding the paid bill for $1000's with nothing to show for it, just a deep dark useless hole in the ground. I have owned many small businesses and sympathize with others that have "bad" customers but that's not the case here. I am a stellar customer who treats people with respect, pays promptly and every contractor who ever worked for me will back me up, even in court if it comes to that. I hope it doesn't. I just want a fair handshake settlement for everyone.

We woke up to a nightmare scenario on Christmas Eve morning - no water coming from my parents'…read morefaucets. My parents live out in the country (in Montgomery County) and thus aren't connected to any city water supply, with a ground water well that goes down ~235 feet. We had a Christmas Eve party planned for later that evening, followed by a big day with family on Christmas. But without any water, we were completely screwed - I thought we were going to have to call an audible and transfer everything over to my sister's house, which would be less than ideal. Moreover, we didn't know how bad the situation was - there was a drought over the summer of 2024, so we worried our well might have run dry. This had already happened to my parents ground water well back in 1984, forcing them to re-drill the well over 100 feet deeper (a major undertaking for anybody who's gone through this). Given that it was Christmas Eve, we didn't know if anybody would be available to help us; but fortunately, my Dad was able to get ahold of C.S. Garber & Sons in Douglassville, who sent a crew out to us immediately. Shawn and Aidan got to my parents' house around 9 AM, quickly diagnosed the problem, and got to work right away. They determined we had plenty of water in our well (i.e. it didn't go dry) but weren't getting any current from the well pump, which had finally stopped working after 48 years. They got their equipment setup and started pulling the old pump out, which got stuck halfway, leading us to wonder if the well had collapsed. Fortunately, with Aidan's strong frame pulling, they eventually got the pump jarred loose - most likely a large rock was in the way. They even had a brand new ¾ horsepower pump in their work truck, which is exactly what my father wanted to replace our old 1/2 horsepower pump with. Got the new pump hooked up, placed back down into the well and working in no time. They were done before noon and we had zero issues thereafter. Shawn and Aidan are real-life superstars that quite literally saved our Christmas! Can't recommend these guys enough if you're having water issues or an emergency at your house or business.

In 3 days we had a reasonable estimate by email and we agreed that I would start some digging by myself to narrow down the field of intervention. I found a leaky copper connector at the well head and shared pics with Bryan. We agreed on the intervention date and decided that it was not worth trenching to change the whole line which was already in plastic, which saved a lot of time and efforts. The team was there for 2 hours and they replaced the leaky fitting and made a clean connection. They are very well equipped and they worked fast and efficiently. They pressure tested the whole system and closed the trench. The team was friendly and professional, and they take pride in servicing well their clients. Our house have been Stover's client for 40 years and they have always been there when we need them at a competitive and fair price. I strongly recommend their services.

Very unprofessional and irresponsible!…read more We used Stover's to replace two of our old hydrants. Afterwards, we noticed water leaking from the underground pipe to the hydrant in our barn, so we asked Stover's to come take a look. Ryan came by to see the leak. He asked if the barn used electricity, and we replied that there was electricity. He said that he would have to contact the utility company to get markers for the underground electrical lines. About a week later, he arrived with equipment to dig up the area around the leak. While they were digging, they hit the conduit containing the electrical lines for the barn. The pipe was broken. Ryan insisted that we would have to pay for the cost of fixing the broken conduit. We spoke to the owner and pointed out that Stover's was supposed to get markers for the electrical lines from the utility company before digging. His response was that the utility company only had information on the lines from the street to the house. The line to the barn was a private line which is supposed to be the homeowner's responsibility. We asked why they had not told us this before digging. They knew that the barn had electricity, but did not tell us they needed markers before digging. The owner agreed to cover the cost of fixing the broken conduit. Then, I received an invoice while Stover's was still working. We had not been given a quote in advance, so I was surprised that the invoice was $1500. For context, the first job to replace two hydrants cost $400. This job was to fix one leaky pipe but was almost four times the cost. The Stover's office called me and told me to pay the invoice while we were waiting for an electrician to come fix the conduit. I asked the office why the price was so high, and she replied that this was a bigger job. That didn't make any sense. I also couldn't pay the full invoice because the job wasn't done yet. She insisted that I needed to pay the full invoice now and that this was the way things were done. I kept asking for an explanation on why the invoice was this high and she said Ryan would call me back. After the job was finished, Ryan called me. He said that it costs this much to fix a leaky pipe. Right after that, he said I only had three options: I could pay the full payment, they could dig up the pipe and disconnect it, or they could call the police. He kept repeating this when I asked to speak to the manager. I had to insist that I had a right to speak to the manager and finally got connected to Cindy. She said that this was a big job because they were at our farm for three quarters of the day. I said that they spent a lot of time here because they broke the conduit. She said that it was my fault because I didn't tell them that there was an electrical line there. At this point, I was frustrated and done with this company. Furthermore, the leaking pipe was caused by the pipe detaching from the connector. This happened right after they replaced the hydrant the first time. I'm displeased with the quality of work, but I'm very disappointed by Stover's way of handling the broken conduit. Mistakes happen, but it was upsetting when they kept trying to blame the homeowner. It was also incredibly dangerous how they started digging without checking the location of the electrical lines. Someone could have gotten hurt. Overall, I'm disappointed in the unprofessional and irresponsible way that Stover's handled this job.
