I initially called Tactile Medical in Phoenix and they were responsive. They provided a representative's number, and the rep came to my home to demonstrate the lymphedema therapy machine. The demonstration went well, and I was interested in moving forward. However, after that visit, communication completely stopped. I have tried multiple times to follow up: * Calling the number the rep left * Leaving voicemails * Sending emails * Calling the main line again No one has returned my calls or emails. I still have no idea if my insurance approved the device or what the next steps are. This lack of follow-through after their rep invested time in the demo is very frustrating and has delayed my ability to get treatment for my lymphedema. I expected better support from a medical device company. Other patients considering Tactile Medical should be aware that getting a timely response after the initial contact can be difficult. read more

I have not yet used their device, but I assume it works. I tried a demo model, and it worked. Dealing with the company is impossible. They do not answer their phone or respond to the request for information form. I am not sure they billed me the correct price after Medicare payment. I was in contact with Michelle Haan. We let her know my mother's severe leg wound needed these devices as soon as possible. Moving things forward after signing everything has been almost impossible. My Tactile representative told me that my device had been approved by insurance. Now, months later, Tactile wants over $4,000 because the insurance approval was only for three months of rental. I am shipping the device back. Tactile did not try to contact me after October of last year when they called to get a review of the product. I believe they misrepresented themselves and they should have let me know that the approval was not valid. The Tactile Medical pneumatic pump, Flexitouch Plus, is excellent. The company / people are difficult to deal with-- can be pushy, aggressive and evasive in answering some questions. Proceed with caution and know what you are signing up for. Might be good to have something in writing and check with your insurance company re: costs. Also , difficult to get to talk with someone and you are pushed and rushed. Many complaints exist about the company. I wanted to speak with someone who makes the pump about a question I had and that wasn't possible.- no reason given. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! Have been trying to get a pump for my leg for months now. Had to continually chase the salesperson but not getting any response. Was told they didn't have referral from my doctor's office but that was sent back in December and confirmed by Tatyana that they did indeed have it. The salesperson who came to my house to do a demo has been radio silence ever since with zero follow up as to why my pump has not arrived. Have been on hold with customer service for almost a half hour and no one is manning the online chat. All I can say is if you want to work with this company go elsewhere! The salesman said my pneumatic pump would be covered by my insurance. LIE, I owed $ thousands to Tactile. The FlexiTouch Plus pump is TERRIBLE. The leggings are not custom. Too much fabric to get around. Takes forever to put on. The small tubes the air goes through either kink or become unplugged and are so short, it's hard to put together. I so so so wish I had come here to see the reviews before I accepted this as ordered by my physician.It got so bad that the pump which seemed to over-inflate caused pain --not only caused me pain but made deep grooves, ridges and dents in both of my legs. I immediately took photos and mailed them. The dents lasted for 1hr and gave new open leg wound ( risks diabetes and immune issues). The failures just escalated. There was so much pressure that it forced my feet to point the toes rigidity like I could not move- husband rescued me. The very next use resulted in the leg garment spontaneously unzipping from thigh (top) to bottom ( ankle) where the leg garment then exploded open, popping off my leg I got rescued again- the controls were not very easy to reach. ??what could have happened had I been alone or in someway impaired I told the company that it was faulty and that I was refusing to use it due to safety concerns and patient injury. I had to me run a series of test runs - 5 hrs. They were a series of different failures -machine wouldn't even run/start and then exploding leg garment-videotaped. I pushed for the company to pay for a product return. They did and the item went back. Now my insurance was billed almost $1700.00 and I was getting bills for just under $200. At no time did they communicate that return was conditional. Once you open the product or have 6o days pass there is no warranty return on this system. Not for any reason I now begin to get letters about my bill due. Even with return Tactile is demanding payment. Total sessions used less than10. I asked for an account note suspending billing since returned but they are demanding payment and threatening collections. Then once the equipment had been received and they tested it- guess what - they couldn't replicate the errors and issues and " found no problem with the device " ( they had all of the photos, the exploding leg garment videos, the list of error codes they told me how to find in the pump etc). And yet they stated that my amount was due. At this point- I have NO equipment and am being asked to pay for NOT HAVING ACCESS TO THE THERAPY my doctor prescribed. I asked for the amount to be waived and the amount my insurance company paid to be refunded since the product was returned in good faith. At no time was there any communication that the return was conditional. They stated clearly that my insurance company would not be refunded and that I was expected to pay the amount listed as due even in face of having no product. I have never been billed for having nothing. The latest is that the billing department cannot see evidence of the return. Even with the notes about their internal company testing.Somehow clinical doesn't know what product support knows or what billing knows despite al the emails/recorded calls So at the end of the day- 1). it's a new plan year and they are still threatening about the balance of less than$200.00 2) they are asking me for payment for equipment I don't have access to 3) they have billed my insurance a lot of money for something patient does not own or have access to - just under $1700.00 4) there was a statement about " management consideration will approve sending you a pump- well I don't have any of the accessories or power supply/controller as all was sent back in the original company packaging approximately 1 month after receiving it 5) opened equipment is not returnable not under warranty no matter what the issue 6) why sent me a system that I feel is flawed and unsafe This doesn't address my need for therapy. I have been without therapy for 3 months 7) my doctor ordered a competitor product and it is vastly superior - for instance - fail-safe mechanisms with immediate shut off should the pressure be too high, segmental pressures so that each level (8) has a unique pressure setting, garments that are not one size fits all and actually fit a person 5ft 2, no internal zipper setting for a larger leg that actually dig into your skin during treatment - this is the biggest plus for the other company. At the end of the day I wish wish wish I'd checked these reviews. I looked online at FDA website for lawsuits and complaints and places like healthgrades not knowing that YELP had reviews in this product. Go elsewhere - this product caused injuries and had failures The rep was awesome for this but the company was anything but! Complete lack of communication between areas and less than patient focused agents. The recurring billing letters have become threatening and were even sent after they agreed to suspend the account for 39 days while the return was occurring. There was one rep that was so bad it made my final decision to refuse to use the product and petition for returnWell we see how that worked out! Though I requested not to send the device to me unless covered by insurance, it was sent anyway. In my numerous calls to billing I was given contradictory information about my coversage, which mostly turned out to be false. Great sales rep, Terrible customer service. The rep that did the in home training was great. Explained the co pay cost ($1090), payment plan of 12 equal payments over a year starting 60 days after my receiving the device. Put everything in writing. Prior to shipping I received a text message from a Customer Service rep (Renee) to call them. I called Renee who said that they were ready to ship and wanted 40 percent down! I told Renee that this was not what the sales rep put in writing, to which Renee said that company policy states anything over $1000 requires a 40% deposit. I stated I have in writing what the salesperson who is the rep for the entire state of Texas quoted me, which was 12 equal payments over a year's time starting 60 days after receipt of the device. Renee said that this wasn't correct and she would get the salesperson in trouble with her manager. I asked how this would resolve my situation and she repeated this was company policy. I said I couldn't understand how a salesperson for the entire state of Texas could be unaware of this policy and that this sounded like a bait and switch deal, and wasn't an ethical way to conduct business, the Renee got angry and hung up the phone. Renee neither apologized for the mix up nor offered to put me through to a manager who could have tried to diffuse the situation and / or offered an accommodation. When a customer has already agreed to purchase a medical device that retails without insurance for over $7000, quality customer service people are trained to not lose the sale. service staff is tremendous. Their warranty and garments leave a lot to be desired. Within a year the hoses started separating at connection points. Now that my garments are out of warranty I'd have to pay roughly $1000 to replace when they were faulty from the start. If you need a short term fix this will help and insurance will likely cover but long term just pass on it. Find an alternative. These things are designed to fail. read more

I'd like to share my experience with Tactile Medical. Read on if you want to know more. I got my device last Nov of '23. At the time I was sold the device, I was told it was a onetime purchase and my insurance covered the whole cost. No out-of-pocket costs. I started using the device with good results, maybe even great results. Around Feb of this year, I got my first bill from them. After spending months working with their local team and Regional Area Director, I have an understanding that they billed my insurance who apparently did not treat it as a purchase but only a purchase of the garments and not the controller. Shouldn't be my problem, but TCMD continued to bill me every month with additional new out of pocket costs. Not only that, but instead of reaching out to me to try to solve the problem, I would get annoying automated calls from them that would act like they were going to connect you to someone live, only to have them request that I take the time to call their billing dept. to solve their problem. That went on until earlier this month when I told them I was going to sue if they didn't stop harassing me. Even that had to be a threat made to a recorded phone line. But it didn't stop until Lacey Hard, the above-mentioned Regional Director, stepped in to get Jill, the head of collections, to finally stop that madness and deal with it on their side. Sometime back around Feb/Mar of this year I started having some random intermittent problems with the controller. I have had some success in trying to solve the problem with some of their support people only to have the random problems keep re-occur. The problem is that the device just suddenly reboots itself. Sometimes in the middle of a treatment and sometimes without even starting a treatment. If the machine reboots in the middle of the treatment, it registers a code that shows a power outage. If the machine reboots without being in a treatment, nothing is registered. You can demonstrate it by simply pulling the plug in the above-mentioned scenarios. You will get the one R2 or R1 codes if it's in process but nothing if it isn't when the reboot happens. Now, TODAY (6/21/24), after all of the previously mentioned issues, the machine reboots twice while not even running a program on the machine. Again no log. First I deal with Tammi who claims to be an debug expert on their device. I try to bring her up to speed on the issues but she assures me she is read up to speed. She then asks me to start the debug process as if we knew nothing at all. As if it was still Feb., the first time i called in, instead of months later after I and their staff have waisted hours and hours and hours of my time trying to debug their billing and their product. I would have thrown this machine long before now if it hadn't been for Lacey's heroic efforts to find someone somewhere that would listen inside their company. I know she found Jill in billing because that stopped that side of the problems. After the morning today and the interaction with Tammi, I had another interaction with Emily, a CUSTOMER SUPPORT agent. Emily worked diligently with me to understand that i had already been through great lengths with and without their team to be pretty sure that it is likely a short (or more specifically, an open) inside either their device or their power supply. Something I probably couldn't reproduce in a video very easily since it is a random event and I don't film myself using their product. That was a hard and fast rule that TCMD makes their agents put their customers through in order to even consider replacing the unit or bringing it in house....... Fortunately, Emily and Lacey converged at the right person in TCMD, that knew that the customer is usually (but not always) right. I don't know who that is, but they do. Either way I'll have a new unit by next week hopefully if someother penny pincher doesnt get involved in something they nothing about. Customer Service! I wish 0 stars was an option! Tactile Medical has been absolutely horrible. I have severe lymphedema. I have been waiting for a flexitouch pump for 3 months. The rep. came to my home and fitted me for it in March. It is now June and still nothing! I have made endless phone calls to this company, only to receive the same reply. It has been escalated and we will call you back with a reply. The reply call NEVER comes. I even merged my insurance company with Tactile Medical to confirm that the equipment is covered by my insurance. Even that attempt wasn't successful to get the pump. My health is suffering as a result of their complete incompetence and disregard. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by their lack of concern and lies. read more

I have had a Flexitouch Pump for many years now. The first one I had (now discontinued) worked well, except for occasional issues with the velcro. The company was always good about replacing garments when necessary. Since I received the new version (with the gray garment), I have had nothing but trouble. The internal hoses came loose right at the beginning; the company replaced the garment, but, again, the internal hoses came loose almost immediately. They just don't stay attached. Now that I'm out of warranty, I have to use duct tape and superglue to keep the garment together. The controller also stopped working; it powers on, but nothing else happens. I did get a replacement controller, but now I'm just hoping this one lasts until insurance will approve a garment from a different company. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! I was referred to this lack luster company by my podiatrist. When the 1st field rep called to set up an appointment I asked if this could be done at the podiatrist's office even told them time, place and date. The appointment was set or so I thought! After waiting for 1/2 an hour no one showed! After the no show I called their number and went through phone tree hell trying to talk to a person. When I finally reached someone it was another field rep, because I refused to work with the 1st one. After the demonstration, I was told it had to be approved by my medical insurance. Waited 2 weeks without hearing a word! Called again for an update another 2 weeks nothing! When someone finally called back after a month it was someone I'd never talked to, finally telling me they had to appeal the insurance denial. Called 2 weeks later for an update spoke yet again to a new person "oh it takes a month to appeal" I faxing the appeal form yet again because they "never received the original" yet another new person (I've lost track of how many....) I had a tactile pump many years ago. Using it (for a very short time) caused issues with my heart so I couldn't continue. It was very difficult to use. Velcro would not stay put and not easy to reach controls while wearing. I have for the past year had doctors tell that me I NEED to be back on a pump (I have advanced lymphedema). Tactile medical was called out again and the same sales person assured me that everything was different. He tried a garment with a zipper and said that I would be able to control from my phone. All lies. Same type of garment arrived after months of back and forth with my insurance. I cried for 2 days. Told the nurse who was supposed to help me set it up about what I was told would arrive as opposed to what I received. She told me that I had a great salesperson and this was much better. I tried to put only one of the pieces on and was so upset and anxious that my leg starting leaking profusely from my lymphedema (I hadn't had a problem in MONTHS). When I told the nurse (she was on the phone talking to me) she said just call her back when I was ready to set up. That was August. It is now the end of October. Greetings. I am Jeff Shultz and I obtained lymphedema garments from Tactile for my right arm and left thorax. Tactile went above and beyond in working with my insurance. While out of network, they did what was needed to get the max coverage via the primary insurance's contracted secondary ins company contract. Subsequently I was confused about the billing and made a fuss (an embarrassing large one). I finally got the requested call from Michelle (Customer Finance Manager) who finally got my head around the actual lengths Tactile went to on my behalf. Now I must apologize publicly to those who worked on my behalf. I must also say emphatically how highly I recommend their products. Top level engineering, assembly, materials, delivery, and excellent videos and apps to fully explain the use of the products. This includes the sales representative's in-home demonstration and explanation of use and finance. Let me be clear, if you have lymphedema, seriously consider Tactile's products. read more

Shady business practices. I can identify with reviewer Jeffrey S and a few others. Do not purchase a system from Tactile. They claim after 5 invoices they will no longer send you an invoice (even though you were paying on line anyway). I only received 3 invoices. They claim they texted me, but there is no evidence of texts. Does it really matter when I've been paying on it as agreed? The co makes no acknowledgement of that and if you try to have your invoices sent via email, the online system blocks it from day one. The sales reps are wonderful, but it goes down hill after that with billing. Does not matter that you have made monthly payments...they still send you to collections. read more

Tactile Medical has been great. When my insurance company denied coverage to pay for my leg pump, tactile medical went above and beyond, filed an appeal on my behalf, and they won the appeal. I only had to pay the deductible, my insurance paid for the rest, and Tactile worked with me on a payment plan for my out-of-pocket deductible. The tactile medical leg pump works great. Makes my legs feel better as I have lymphedema in both legs. The company even replaced the wrap when it malfunctioned for free as it was still under warranty. I got the replacement in just a few days. This is a Great product. Relieves the swelling/pain in my legs when I use the pump for a few days at least. Between the leg pump and my compression socks I can manage and get some relief, any relief is a blessing, from my condition. It enables me to walk much easier. I honestly do not know what I would do without my leg pump. An extremely grateful customer/patient. read more

My physician sent a referral to Tactile Medical because I was having some issues with edema secondary to some wound care issues. While my physician didn't tell me a whole lot about the "pump," I gathered it would be similar to stump shrinkers (which I had previously used for a similar issue with positive results). Within 24-48 hours, the local rep contacted me and since we were getting toward the end of the year wanted to explore my benefits to make sure it would be covered and so I could get an idea of what to expect. He mentioned $6-700, which I took to mean that would be the price of the device. My co-pay would be significantly less since I had met my deductible already. However, it was still a significant investment and given I'm both paraplegic and an amputee I was hesitant to move forward without a demo of the product and seeing it to make sure it was something I could really use. The rep agreed to show up prior to my next appointment. It was early, however, I do my appointments early so I can get to work. We set an appointment and I arrived early and at the agreed upon time. He never showed up and didn't call. The clinic made a comment that he was coming after my appointment (which is not what I'd agreed to). While I wasn't thrilled, I stuck around and I considered it a priority. He was still a no show and didn't respond to two phone calls from the clinic. I finally had to leave and was told the clinic would try to get in touch. 24 hours later, I received a letter explaining they were still exploring insurance (but no phone call or apology for the no show). A couple weeks later, I received an actual call explaining my insurance and explaining the cost was actually just under $3,000 and $700 would be right around my portion. I again explained that I still had no clue about the device and expressed my disappointment that the rep hadn't shown up. I felt this was above and beyond what was needed and had some other concerns. I decided to hold off and talk to my doctor about it, though that put me with one week to spare in the fiscal year. They sent me to a couple Youtube videos which didn't really answer my questions. The person on the phone also contradicted their website - he said that if my insurance denied it that I could arrange for pick-up. However, the website clearly states that once it's opened it can't be returned. I talked to my doctor and explained my concerns. We agreed that my insurance may very well not cover it since my leg had improved significantly. While we have some concerns about recurring issues, it was agreed that not moving forward was the best choice. Another phone person called and I explained my decision. They were nice, though appeared very surprised. Overall, this was a very middling experience to me. The initial lack of showing up and following up really put me in a negative space because it felt like pressure to then move forward on a major purchase without being certain of the equipment's appropriateness. I mean, my wheelchair cost less than $3000. The subsequent lack of follow-up, inconsistent answers to basic questions, and sales approach all are of concern. As I didn't go through with getting the device, I can't speak to the device itself or any needed follow-up. However, based upon my initial experiences I will be hesitant to turn to Tactile should future needs arise. read more

I purchased the Flexitouch Plus Compression System with the recommendation by my Vascular Specialist. Within 3 months I had two leg garments replaced because they were defective. The device after 4 months of daily use did absolutely nothing for my lymphedema. They are a company, in my humble opinion, that simply does not care about their customers. They demonstrated that on several occasions when dealing with their different departments. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to my purchase. Fraudulent practices. My mom had a demonstration of their leg sleeves. She told the rep she would think about purchasing it. She never ordered it. A few weeks later, they left a voicemail saying they were notifying her that the item had shipped. They charged my mom and her insurance. She requested to return it but they said the appeal will take several months to process. Charging someone for something they never ordered is fraud. Doing so to the elderly and disabled is abuse. I'm seeing other complaints about this too. Maybe it's time for a class action lawsuit. My mom found a machine from Fit King on Amazon for $130 that worked better for her. read more

Having had lymphedema most of my adult life this product interested me as a possible non-pharmaceutical solution. I tried two different models as apparently my insurance requires a failure on the older unit before they will approve the new unit. They did measurements and I opted to wait to get the unit. It made such a big difference in a 15 minute treatment I opted to go ahead ana get it early k owing i would have to pay my deductible at the end of year, not their fault, just the way the claims fell. It took several weeks for my doctor to complete his part of the paperwork ana the insurance to do theirs. They called to schedule shipping ana it showed up a couple days later. For a reality check, with everything on I look like the stay puff marshmallow girl but it works. It was easy to put together. I did need a little help to get all the tabs adjusted from my husband but once everything was fitted it's easy enough to get on ana off by myself. I would recommend if you struggle with lymphedema and cannot do MLD on your legs. read more

I was only able to use the pump 4 times within the first 1 1/2 month of having it. It opened my wound that I spent 7 months trying to get it healed. My dr said I am no longer suppose to use them. I have been waiting over 4 months to get a new suit, and just found out today that AGAIN they failed to submit it to my insurance company. I have been using pneumatic compression for 5 years now. This is not new and is just a replacement suit, but somehow they can not seem to get their act together long enough to get the paperwork to my insurance company.
