I feel that a lot of retail pharmacies have gone downhill in the last few years. They have become hit or miss when it comes to customer service, inventory, etc., in both the store and the pharmacy. This location is an exception. I have been here a few times recently. The store seems newer, there is plenty of light streaming in, the aisles are wide, clean, and fairly well stocked and the pharmacy staff are very good, too. The staff in the main store are also friendly, too. They also have a small, but adequate parking lot for when you are on the go and need to get and get going quickly. read more

The pharmacy at Walgreens in Uptown is, by far, the worst, most dysfunctional pharmacy I have ever encountered. they are horribly understaffed and lines snake down the aisles as customers moan and groan. Prescriptions go unfilled days after being called in by a doctor for absolutely no reason. After moving back to an area in which this was my closest pharmacy, I transferred all my scripts here. But after three horrible experiences with trying to get my scripts filled, I transferred them all to the CVS in St Louis Park, where the pharmacy actually works! read more

I received a text and a voicemail from Walgreens stating that my prescription was ready for pickup. I drove 40 minutes across town--during another obligation--because this was the only location that had my medication in stock. When I arrived, there was one person in front of me at the pharmacy register. I waited patiently. As soon as that customer was finished, the pharmacy technician told me they were closing for lunch. I explained that I had just received a notification from Walgreens to pick up my prescription, and there was no mention in either message that the pharmacy would be closed between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. Her response? "It's Saturday," said with a dismissive tone, as if I was supposed to know their lunch schedule. Then, right in front of me, she shut the pharmacy gate in my face while two other staff stood aside doing nothing. Not a single person made an effort to help--despite Walgreens being the one to ask me to come pick up my prescription. This was my first time at this location--and will definitely be my last. If this is how Walgreens treats its customers, I'll be taking my prescriptions elsewhere. It would've taken less than a minute to hand me my medication before closing. Imagine a pharmacy where you're constantly fighting to get your prescriptions that are supposedly on auto-renew to be ready sort of on time. And you're told they're ready and show up and have to wait 45 min because they are not ready. I have never successfully gotten any meds easily renewed here in a timely fashion and it's the only pharmacy near me somehow in this busy city. They make consistent refills impossible for medications I have been on for years it's crazy making. read more

I was in uptown Minneapolis on an early Tuesday night. I was headed to Sencha Tea and was trying to find a spot to park. A few side streets were busy and I couldn't find any parking. I then found this Walgreens. Should I park here? The sign says a thirty-minute limit. Should I risk parking here? I did. What made me so happy about spotting this drugstore was that for a while, I have been trying to find a 24-hour Walgreens. They exist! Most that I frequently close by 10 or 11 pm. I backed into a spot. I had some time before getting to Sencha, so I went in to scope out the place. Technically, I visited this place twice in over three hours. There was a man calling this place his home by sleeping on the floor in an aisle to my left. There was also a security person on duty. As expected, the former was gone when I had returned at around 8 pm. I found hair accessories and Easter merchandise. I knew that I was coming back from beverages, so it was nice getting familiar with a few aisles. After my evening at Sencha, I walked back to this Walgreens. My car was still there. I placed my tea items in my car and then headed into the store to shop. It's a large store. There's a drive-thru pharmacy if you'd like to use it instead of going inside the store. It was still doing swift business past 8 pm. I loved the Squishmallows and Disney items at this store. Each Walgreens is different and I love spotting new items. I was here to get drinks. I settled for a 12-pack of canned Diet Dr. Pepper. The pop selection was decent. I had the nicest man at the checkout. I entered my phone number on the touchscreen to collect points. I paid with a credit card by tapping. Done! He wished me a nice evening. I reciprocated and happily carried my case of pop to my car. I dig this Walgreens. Before I begin, I just want to say that the pharmacy employees have been wonderful to deal with, but they never stay very long. It's the corporate policies and cost-cutting that are the cause of most of these problems. My experience with the pharmacy is absolutely frustrating. At times they would give me a partial order on my insulin (they can't keep an adequate supply of insulin on hand--a pharmacist told me over the phone one time that Walgreens was deliberately keeping a short supply on hand for financial reasons), and I couldn't get the rest of my prescription without treating it as another refill--had to jump through hoops to get it. Don't get me started on the ridiculously long time you have to wait on the phone to get service. Yesterday, I was told I was the second person inline several times, then that message stopped and I was on hold for one hour before I hung up. I called back later in the afternoon. Was told there were more than three a head of me, but after an hour, I hung up. Do they do it on purpose to reduce the number of calls they have to answer? The drive-thru is nice, but there is quite a bit of a wait because either some customers have issues or the pharmacy didn't do their job. If you go inside, it's been y experience that you wait in line a long time because there is only one person at the counter. These are only examples of issues that continually occur with the pharmacy. I switched to Walgreens from CVS because of the drive-thru, but I never have had such bad experiences with them as I've had with Walgreens. Have you ever tried to find a corporate number or webpage where you can register a complaint? I've looked, and have never found a customer service page. I've been thinking about switching to an online pharmacy, but I've not follow through because Walgreens service improved--for a while. read more

If you go in to buy something and leave you won't have too much of a problem, but if you plan to order from the app, use the pharmacy, or need assistance in the store, I would advise against it. They seem to be understaffed so there's a long wait for help or prescription refills, but the employees there are nice. read more

I really wanted to like this pharmacy and gave it multiple chances but it is insane how their inaccurate systems and lack of communication waste everyone's time. My doctor had to call three times before they acknowledged receipt of prescriptions. Then pharmacy told me I needed pre-auth from insurance but when I called insurance, they told me no pre-auth was needed. It took me two weeks of back and forth before I sent the prescriptions to HyVee who immediately found the scripts and rang up insurance with zero copay. Retail sale items have also rung up as full price a number of times. Cashier was able to fix it when I caught it but she couldn't print me a receipt because it had been sent to email. Neither could she tell me how much I had just been charged. I kept checking email but the receipt didn't come for three hours. Everyone here was nice. No one was actually helpful. read more

Well, the place is clean inside and fairly well stocked, but for a large store they have very few employees. There is often nobody on the floor to help you find something, and I've never seen more than one cashier on duty. Also, no shopping baskets. I asked about this and was told that people load them up and then run out the door with the merch. So why not hire a security guard? So the inside of the store is clean and bright, but the outside looks like something out of a slum: dirt, grime, debris, full trash can. The entry mat between sliding doors has not been cleaned in what looks like years, and the carpet just inside is worn down nearly to the floor. You can do better. read more

My low rating for Walgreens overall is their continued DILUTION of the effective chemicals in our prescriptions by opting for cheaper and cheaper manufacturers!!! Prescriptions i take for asthma etc for years, are now SO ineffective i just suddenly QUIT and transferred everything to the good pharmacy at U of Mn campus (3). This review is only for the pharmacy portion. The customer service with the pharmacy techs really needs to improve. The only nice person is the male pharmacist. The other techs make you feel like a huge inconvenience. The store is very nice considering the area but the wait at the pharmacy takes forever. I've never been in this Walgreen's before. It's in broburg, so I go see my bestie in this area and get out as quickly as I can. I appreciated that the layout wasn't different from other locations, so I was able to find the cold meds and vitamins where I expected to see them. Also, the candy aisle (a must-stop for me) is fully stocked and tempting. I got my candy bae, peppermint puffs, and bought some peanut M&Ms for my friend accompanying me. The cashier was friendly, if not a bit overly helpful. I had to explain that my FSA card is finicky and might not work. He professed to being an "expert" on these things. He'd never seen my card before after I showed it to him. I rolled my eyes and smiled. As expected, I had to use my regular card to pay for my purchase and will have to submit a claim to get reimbursed for these items. Oh well. I do like that this location is open 24 hours. The one nearest me is not, so I might end up coming to this one again. read more

Sat on hold for 39min 18seconds. Got disconnected after 30 seconds. Called back and asked for the store manager, got a shift leader that said I can transfer you to the pharmacy and I said yeah but I'm not holding for another 40 min. Answers and says well we don't have it in, I said why can't you fill it generic? He said because my script says I can't. I said no it doesn't. He looked and said ok we will have it ready but we close at 5 today. Wtf. It was sent in on the 11th, suppose to have the 13th then they said 15th then it was the 18th so paying out of pocket to get my script that their too dumb to fill in the first place - and drove over 30 min to sit in their drive they for 20min because they're closing five hours early all of a sudden. I have been consistently on prescription meds for over 25 years and lived in 10 different cities, because of this I have been to a million different pharmacies in my life. I have never seen a pharmacy as incompetent as this one, I've seen them take OVER 24 HOURS to fill a simple prescription, if you ever ask for a time estimate it consistently takes about three times as long as the maximum that they quote you. I understand that when a pharmacy is busy it can take a while to fill a prescription, but don't say it will be ready in an hour when you know it's going to take 3! The pharmacy team also lacks basic knowledge about the medications that they are dispensing and refuse to give people their medications based on a misunderstanding of the interactions between medications. read more

Destiny at this Hennepin Avenue store in Uptown went the extra mile. While Walgreens was sending me emails saying my perscription refill was denied by my doctor, she said, "I'll check your profile." She found the doctor HAD renewed the perscription! And in 15 minutes I had my pills. I'm a heart patient, and this may have saved my life!!!! Kudos to Destiny!!!!!! read more

This is the slowest Walgreens pharmacy I have ever been to. I come in at 10:30am to pick up pain medication for my wisdom tooth, it's 11:48 currently still setting waiting for 't medication. The medication was sent out at 9am. It was so frustrating to set and be able to use the bathroom either because they don't allow. read more

I'm mainly writing this review because I saw the negative average and don't think it's deserved. Yeah, it's a Walgreens... but this Walgreens treats me right. I come here way more often than is normal. I fill all my prescriptions here, buy posterboard for projects, get 2-4-1 deals on toilet paper and loofahs, purchase shipping envelopes, stock up on out-of-season candy, impuse-buy nail polish I don't need and Pringles I also don't need... I could go on. I've always had positive experiences with the pharmacy and the other staff, including one time recently where a cashier saw me making for the line and offered to check me out at the photo area because he wasn't doing anything at the time. read more

My rating hasn't wavered, and I continue to visit this location every other day or so. When I need to buy something in a hurry (which is usually all the time), I'm more than willing to pay the premium in exchange for convenience. Regarding the staff, I see some other Yelpers complain about them; however, I can't recall ever having an issue when asking for help or receiving a service. Here are a couple of examples: Several days before Christmas Eve, I still didn't have a gift for my mom. Luckily, my girlfriend suggested I use a digital pic I had of my family, print it out, and get it framed. I told a staff member with a looming curly afro what I wanted to do. There were no issues, and I had the pic blown up and printed an hour later. The cost was less than $15. I got my frame somewhere else, because i found the selection to be a bit small. ;) I also occasionally visit the pharmacy, and the staff there usually greets me with all smiles and takes their time to thoroughly explain to me the instructions. On my most recent visit, the whole process took about five minutes. I even updated my information into their computer system, too! I'm sure things can get a bit chaotic there during peak hours, but again, I've never had a problem. I would highly recommend this location! read more

Walgreens Specialty pharmacy saved my butt, and I'm really appreciative of it. I was dealing with Express Scripts (devil - see my review) and Freedom Fertility pharmacy (also the devil), and after HOURS on the phone with them, they gave me a co-pay of $6000. Yes, six thousand dollars. Really? After much crying to my doctor, they recommended Walgreens specialty on Hennepin. While the co-pay was still expensive (1800), it was nothing in comparison from the evil big pharma. The pharmacy tech who helped us was SO helpful - she offered different financial options (telling us that X and Y drug were cheaper WITHOUT submitting it through your insurance, unless we needed the deductible). This was really helpful for me when I was getting expensive medications. A HUGE thank you. So, if you need fertility meds, this is the place to go. read more

I go to this Walgreen's at least once a week. Unlike the CVS down the street, they actually fill my prescriptions on time and get me cheaper generics when possible. The store is really clean (not easy in Uptown), and the cashiers are friendly and all smiles most of the time, despite being very busy. Sometimes the checkout line can get long, because it's a busy store, so don't expect to always sail through the checkout, but otherwise, it's a really great pharmacy and store. read more

This is a brand new Walgreens store on 26th and Hennepin. It is open 24 hours and located in a fairly high-traffic area, and I believe it is a bit larger than the average Walgreens store. There is a drive-through pharmacy, which is helpful if you're in a rush or if it's cold outside and you don't want to get out of your car. Parking is OK; however, during busy times on Hennepin Avenue, getting in and out the store can prove to be tricky. The interior of the store is always brightly lit and clean, and I never have any trouble finding anything I need. I've experienced good service here when checking out, so I have no complaints. I am grateful to be close to another 24-hour location again. Overall, it's as solid as the other locations. read more

UPDATE: I recently started using this pharm because of my insurance and the staff has been helpful. They kept me informed while dealing with insurance hurdles and phone waits were reasonable. In-store waits are short if you come in the morning (much longer in the afternoon and evening when people are getting off work). The notifications via text and email are swift. My only complaint about this pharm is I waited a long time to get vaccinations like MMR and Hep A. read more

Today I see you changed hours to 8A-10P. What is going on here? You are not a mom and pop that lost an employee? Pull resources from other stores.
