They implied we didn't communicate our expectations clearly enough, which we did. Once we were able to settle the pricing dispute their workers came to paint a statement wall in my stairwell. Their work consisted of uneven edgework, paint dripped on wooden floors, adjacent walls covered in paint, window frames covered in paint, and streaking which left the paint underneath exposed in multiple areas. The damage consisted of two custom blinds covered in paint, wooden stairwell & wall damage from some type of impact, and a broken light fixture. When we attempted to find resolution, communication was lacking and inconsistent, and the only "discount" offered was simply the cost of the blinds & light fixture. They considered the final work worth the amount quoted. What was supposed to be a fun home improvement project turned into a nightmare and a huge cost for better professionals to correct the work and repair the damage. I regret using Southern Painting Houston Southwest and will not recommend them to anyone.

However, I still decided to hire this company after verifying their insurance, reading reviews on another site, and receiving a very competitive bid. The scope of work included repainting 90% of the interior walls, texturing & painting an unfinished closet, retexturing bad patch jobs, caulking around windows and trim, spray painting speaker grills, and touching up trim. One room was two colors (horizontal split) and there were also several other areas where different colors would meet. The lines between these areas were crisp and straight. Magic Painting performed quality work. After they were done painting, I was asked to go throughout the house and identify areas I would like touched up further. My house has double entry doors that were worn and in need of refinishing. The last time my doors…read morelooked this way my wife and I tried to refinish them ourselves. That was a mistake as we did not do a good job on them, but they served the purpose and lasted a couple years. Finally, I decided to find a professional to do our doors and started to research the local Home Concepts magazine, Yelp and Google to find the right person to do the job. There are plenty out there to choose from. Most of the companies I contacted just asked for a picture of the doors which I sent, but they were either expensive or didn't seem like they really wanted to do them. I came across Q&H Refinishing on Yelp and reached out to them and was immediately impressed with their professionalism and promptness in reviewing my pictures and providing a reasonable estimate. I was also impressed with the fact that they are experts on refinishing all wood products. I agreed to the price, and we set a time and date for the work to be done. Isaac is the owner and personally came to my house to do the refinishing of my doors with his assistant Adrian. These folks were amazing, they arrived a little early which was good and started right on removing the locking hardware and doors with care, covering the entry way with plastic to keep the cool air inside. Once outside they put the doors on stands and started the process of sanding by hand to remove the old polyurethane and stain. He knew right away that it was a previous DIY project, but he didn't complain. Isaac and Adrian worked tirelessly on sanding, sanding and more sanding. They took the doors down to bare wood and then properly reapplied stain. With detail they then applied new polyurethane, hung the doors and reinstalled the locking hardware. He changed screws in the hinges because they were the wrong type in the past and made sure they lined up correctly. Isaac is a protectionist in his trade and did a fantastic job. The entire job took over seven hours but looks beautiful. These doors like new again, so he is obviously an expert in the refurbishing of doors. I will use him for any other refurbishing wood project that comes up. Without a doubt I highly recommend using Q&H Refinishing.
