She was so sorry. Well she must not know that I can see where my delivery driver is. He wasn't even there yet!!! I text him to be sure and he said no 5 minutes away. After grabbing lunch with my dad at The Fry Spot, Emily wanted to hang out and do some shopping around Peoria for some home goods. As we headed towards our next destination, I asked her if she wanted to snag a quick cookie before more shopping. She said yes, so we made a quick stop for some sweet treats. The rage for Crumbl when it first opened in East Peoria was insane. It was months later and the lines to get cookies were out the door. So, I waited and waited for the hubbub to die down before trying it out. Well, life happens and that never happened. So, when we stopped on a late afternoon visit at the new Peoria location, it was nice to be the only ones in the store at that moment. We debated on either splitting a big cookie or getting a small one in the flavor we wanted. What we ended up doing was getting a giant cookie in the flavor that we wanted and split it in half for the other to try out. Emily got the Cinnamon Frybread and I got the standard chocolate chip. Each cookie came in at about $5 a piece, which is a lot for a single cookie. But they serve it warm and the fact you can walk in and get a cookie in two different sizes and in bulk quantity is wild. The place itself felt sterile inside. It was clean, somewhat empty, and totally pink and white. There was nothing out that didn't need to be out. It seems you can order from these tablets but we ordered at the register cause it felt silly to order at the station and then walk 3 feet over to get our snacks. Plus, the cashier was wearing a cookie costume and how could you not want to interact with that. This is the kind of place you grab n go, so we snacked on our cookie in the car. The cookies are served warmed so it was a nice surprise to bite into a gooey and soft one. The cookie was super good, even if the price was a bit high for what you get. But for that price, it's great quality and convenient.

Some of you may have even stopped in for a bite to eat. I have stopped by many times myself since I live close to it. Each time, the ice cream never disappoints. I have gotten the food a few times and while it is cheap, it's also only 'okay'. Not that the food is terrible in any way, it's just that could use a little lovin' while being cooked. Review Visit: September 14th, 2014…read more Where diabetic dreams come true. Every town has a few things: A Casey's gas station. A Subway Restaurant. A Dollar General store. Lastly, a locally-owned ice cream shack. Any small town will have a combination of these things, if not all. Bartonville is a smaller town that happens to have their own ice cream shack. I am not sure about the others but that isn't why we are here today. Today, we are here to talk about a place where diabetics dream about. A place that causes diabetes. A place that your sweet tooth (or teeth) dream of. The Dream Hut is like many ice cream shacks. It is nestled in a smaller standalone building that has a store front where you can walk up and place your order and then awkwardly mingle with everyone else that is standing around. The store front is wide enough to accommodate a place to order and a place to pick your food up. Their menu is plastered on the glass where you order and you can stand off to the side and gawk over it without standing entirely in the way of people who have dreamt here before. On a cold day, a few of us decided to take a trip to this hut to see if we could order something dreams are made of. Around this time in my life, I was hopelessly dreaming about Peanut Butter Malts or anything similar. In a confession, I have a terrible peanut butter addiction that continues to this day and for the rest of my life. Upon arriving, I knew I needed something peanut butter-y. Glancing over the menu, I was drawn to the Peanut Butter Cup Blitz and I knew that was the thing my dreams were made of. One sip... well, what can be had for a sip as slurping a thick Blitz through a straw is entirely nightmarish... I knew I hit something good. The Blitz had a nice chocolate/peanut butter blend that can only be described properly by scientists and clairvoyants. Absolutely delectable. My friend Matt ordered the same thing and he rather enjoyed his drink/meal, but not nearly on the level of mine. Devin ordered a simple ice cream cone but even that put a huge smile on her face. Despite the change of the season and that nightfall was quickly approaching, the Dream Hut was everything I could dream in a ice cream place and more. While I only had the one item from their menu on this one and only visit, I would assume the rest of their offerings are just as good. I would like to revisit and try other menu items in the future. Quickly, our server came by & got us started on some drinks. I had the oat milk draft latte (which I've ordered to go multiple times) & it remains my favorite drink in Peoria! We got the maple breakfast sandwich with bacon added & it was the perfect amount of crispy & flavorful. We got two bakery items to share which were also yummy! I took the name literally and was confused on why people loved the place. Turns out, it's a delectable restaurant that just looking at the menu will exceed your daily recommended caloric intake. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is no Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. It's your typical small store that has a ton of goodies inside. Everything from sweets to things that are nutty and everything in-between. Matt, Tim, and I wandered in during a day of hitting up a few Peoria locations. We came here after The 50's Diner to get our dessert fix. I've been to a few baked goods/candy stores at this point in time but I am never not amazed at the variety of goodies they offer. A lot of them carry some of the same chocolate-covered (item) but so many of them do it in their own way. Or do their unique twist on it. That's why I love small chain/locally owned businesses. They all have that personal touch that seems to be missing from Big Name Stores. Tim ended up stocking up on some goodies. Matt got a small item or two. I snagged a cookie or two. I don't remember what cookies I got but I do remember it being pretty dang good. I ended up eating it as we walked back to my car. To rewind time a bit, before we headed in to the store, we stopped and took photos with this giant bear that was sitting on a bench outside. That's just the nature of these kinds of things. If you can pose/sit with a goofy thing, you gotta take a photo with it. Lets wrap this up. If you need a chocolate covered (item), Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory can hook you up. It might be a smaller business but they do have multiple locations, so check their website below if you are interested in checking them out.
