You learn real self defense, Krav, Boxing, Kick Boxing, and Jiu Jitsu in a real world setting. Whether you compete or not, you will recieve the same level of instruction...something that sets this gym apart. Most gyms spend a lot of time with their competitors, but the people who just want to train and have fun are left alone. Not here. Jason Jeanette LOVES to teach and is very good at it. I have been doing martial arts for quite a while and have set foot in most of the gyms in the Nashville area. This one is special. In fact, I drive past several to get there. The gym is sparkling clean and the people are a blast to be around. No big egos here! Jason has a way with children. His kids classes are nothing short of amazing. Coming from a guy who has coached youth football, I can say that I wish I had the natural ability to communicate with children in such a fun and constructive way. You and your child will both benefit greatly from these classes. I would not send my son or daughter to any other martial arts school in the Nashville area. To do so would be to compromise way too much. Jason is that good of a coach.

I found that the price was really exorbiant and it seemed to get more expensive the further we went along. The general idea is that the kids learn a kata and some rudimentary moves and then they can move belts for which there is a ceremony and then additional purchases of pads. My main gripes were the prices $125 a month and the pads seemed to run you and extra $100 or so everytime they moved up a belt which at first can be every 4-6 weeks . I probably could have lived with the pricing but my kids were sort of ambivilant to going so it wasn't worth it for me. My other gripe was that there was all this saluting the flag and pomp and circumstance about god and country and supporting troops. It's not that I mind that either but we are studying karate which you know didn't orignate here in America. It just seemed like it was David's politics with some Americanized Brentwood Karate mixxed in. Not my bag.

The location is super cool, the people (kids and adults) are so nice and really work as a team, and the head professor, Professor Alex, is amazing at what he does. He engages with everyone, praises the students when they nail a technique and is always on top of his classes, making sure everyone is on the same page and understands what they need to do. My daughter has been in martial arts since she was 3 (she's going to be 9 this year), and it was extremely important to me to find an instructor who knew how to really handle a kids class. I've seen coaches in other gyms just ramble off techniques and not really pay attention to if the kids are grasping it. I'm happy to see that Professor Alex is on top of it. He makes sure the kids are doing techniques CORRECTLY and confidently. Her confidence has skyrocketed and she's made friends with all the kids in her class. The adults class is also spectacular. Everyone is so kind and willing to help. If you don't understand something, Professor Alex will demonstrate it and work with you until you do.
