I have a snowblower, riding lawnmower, and lawn trimmer. They all have their special needs and parts that wear out. Taft Power has been exemplary in finding the hard to get parts and taking time to talk through the problems I can fix on my own. Pete is the gentleman I have had the most interaction with, but everyone there is just as pleasant and knowledgeable. There have been a few times that the repairs where above my scope of duty. I find them men inside this store to be rude and misogynistic. When I go there, the person in front of me, has already purchased the item he came for, however, continues to be engaged by the cashier chatting away, for another 5-7 minutes before talking to me (on more than one occasion) When I asked hm if he had something in stock, he told me he would get it for me if I danced for him. I took my lawn mower in for a new blade, a week later they hadn't even touched it. The nicest person in there was a teenager who seemed browbeaten by the management. I won't go there again...got to W. Springfield for small engine repair instead where the service is swift and respectful! read more

I have a Poulan chainsaw that needed a pull cord. I called Poulan and I was told Taft Power Equipment was an authorized dealer. I called Taft and advised what I needed repaired. The nice gentleman advised that it was about a 15 minute repair and they mat be able to do it today. I took the 25 minute drive thinking I would have to leave the chainsaw as I did not go in right away. I was greeted by a friendly, polite young lady who was smiling despite the heat. The repairman looked at my chainsaw and did the repair while I waited. While I was waiting I was advised by an equally polite and friendly young man that they sharpened chainsaws. Needless to say they sharpened 3 chains for me. I was happy with the service I received and despise the 25 minute drive I will return. Excellent job Taft Power Equipment staff. I needed to retire my old lawn tractor after 25 years and was looking for a new one. Checked reviews and Consumer Reports along with other people's opinions. After riding my neighbors Husqvarna lawn tractor, I knew it was the one I wanted. Taft was great. No pressure and actually sold me a model below what I was going to buy saying it was sufficient for my size lawn. Delivered it promptly and I purchased it during the no tax weekend which was an added bonus. It works great and cuts down my mowing time considerably. Purchased the mulching kit and it was easy to install. Nice to work with a reputable guy. Thanks for great service. read more

If I could leave a 0 star rating, I would. I ordered a pump for my power washer and waited a week for it to arrive. When it showed it was the wrong part. Reordered and waited another week. That part showed and I installed it. It turned out defective from the manufacturer. I went back to return it and was told I installed it incorrectly and that they couldn't do anything about it. I will never do business there again. Worst customer service in my life. read more

I purchased a Husqvarna robotic Automower from another Husqvarna dealer a couple of years ago. That dealer is great for more traditional items, but was pretty clueless and uninterested in learning about the Automower. When it went on the blink I had to get the regional sales manager to help me out. he gave me a new updated Automower but did not change the charging station. I only stuck with it because so many of our friends in Europe use these Automowers that I know that they can be great, even if we in the US are not used to them. When I needed another repair (the Automower wouldn't charge) the regional manager referred me to Taft Equipment in Holyoke. I called and spoke with Pete there. I thought I knew what I needed, but Pete refused to sell me the part until he came out and ran his own diagnosis. It turns out that the charging station I had also needed to be updated. Pete did it for me, installed the new station, got the Automower fixed, and never sent a bill for his services or for the new parts. I guess he got Husqvarna to cover them. Ron, the manager, is wonderful! My two year old Snapper self propelled mower popped a wheel off. I brought the machine in, he ordered the wheel after the holiday weekend, the wheel came in the next day, he put the new wheel on, and I just picked up my mower. All accomplished in less than a week at their busiest time of the year and when the grass is growing fast, right before one's eyes. The wheel and labor were covered under warrantee. If you are going to do business with them, make sure you tell them to get authorization for any charges first and get it in writing! I was expecting them to call me with an estimate first before doing anything, but they didn't. Here's a scenario: you bring in a mower to get the self propelled transmission fixed, your blade is coming off when starting, you want the oil changed, and a new air filter. Three weeks go by and you get a call. They have done a carb kit, spark plug, oil and gas. $57 and change for this. They tell you they haven't looked at the self propelled portion yet, and that it would be another $100 + to just fix the blade coming undone. It would be another 2 hours labor @ $74/hr + parts for the transmission for the self propelled portion. In other words, I could go buy a new mower for less, which I would have done had I known the way they do their business. It was the first and last time I'll go to this place! read more

I tried to call them and both times was immediately (before I could speak a word) put on hold for ten minutes. Each time, I hung up after the ten minute period. That's no way to run a business. By the way, I bought a $1,500 snowblower there two years ago. That's no way to treat a customer. read more

I was directed to Taft by Generac customer service when I needed warrantee repair work done to my generator. They were very helpful and completed the repair very quickly. They did an excellent job as the entire frame had to be replaced. Some independent shops aren't too motivated to help you if you didn't purchase the item from them. That was not the case at Taft. I would highly recommend them. read more
