The fries were dusted so they had a nice crunch. They were also slightly seasoned, giving them a hint of more complex flavour. The meat quzi (lamb shank) came with 2 types of flavoured rice. The shank itself was ok but there was no sauce for either the lamb or the rice so it was slightly dry overall. There was a lot of rice. The shank portion was OK. It was also served with baked beans - presumably the (Maraga) Yegi broth of the day. That was really weird since it was plain baked beans. Tanoor bread on the side was decent - it's just a long flatbread. Raisin juice (zabeeb) tasted like it sounds. The lentil soup was very plain. Otherwise it was ok. While waiting for my order I helped myself to the free hot tea (sweetened to taste), which was pretty good.

I went with the Tahini's Special, which comes with a mix of chicken and gyro, as well as hummus, garlic, cabbage, pickles, turnips, rice, and pita bread, and I also "baconized" it by adding a slice of Beef Bacon for an extra dollar. It arrived a while later and was exactly what I was in the mood for. The Beef Bacon didn't quite knock my socks off and the hummus was oddly tasteless, as though they forgot to include lemon or any spices, but otherwise I enjoyed the heck out of my meal. The plentiful chicken and gyro meat was absolutely delicious, while the other components complemented everything really well. The rice tied the whole thing together perfectly. I'm sure we'll be ordering from Tahini's again.

Why something that he was already preparing for us suddenly became unavailable is beyond me, but I couldn't help but think that the owner gave away our item to the patron who spoke Farsi. But I have no proof of this. Then the gentleman who seemed like the owner tried to upsell me to a more expensive beef item as a replacement item to now missing part of my family meal, I said no and was looking to change my order to a single item. And guess what? The item that he was all out of was magically available again and he could prepare it again in a few extra minutes if we were willing to wait. Hmm. Then we sat down and chatted while waiting for our food for exactly 47 minutes..... When we finally got our food, we were so unimpressed with the establishment that we left without bothering to check our bags. Once dinner time rolled around, we started taking out our food to heat, I realized he never gave us a soup which was supposed be a part of the family meal. A nice man came over after he was done preparing food. I let him know that I had fries as part of my birthday perk to redeem. He nodded. He said that my perk would have been loaded to my account and he simply needed to scan my rewards barcode. I pulled out my Tahini's app. He scanned my barcode. Done! I got fries in a bag. It was my first time ever having fries from Tahini's. I liked that there was a light coating of batter. The fries were amazing. I didn't need to put ketchup or find dipping sauce. I loved them. This Tahini's gets full marks for customer service and fries. It's a bit of a gamble trying a fusion of shawarma and ramen. The store did not separate the ramen from the broth. When I opened the container, there wasn't any broth. My guess is that the ramen got thirsty and drank the broth all up as I drove home.
