Tried Tahini's for the first time last week and ordered the 50/50 chicken shawarma bowl (salad + rice), chicken shawarma wrap, fries, as well as guava and mango drinks. On first look, I thought the portion size was a bit small, but as I made my way through the bowl, the amount was bigger than I expected. The meat is nicely flavoured, juicy and the wrap was also very delicious, the wrap itself was not too bready-which which you don't often find. There were a couple of employees working. I have been spending a lot of time in Richmond Hill as of late. It's likely because I enjoy taking in movies at the SilverCity and end up running errands in the area afterwards. A couple of Saturdays ago, I needed to grab some takeout for dinner. I did a search on my Uber Eats app and found Tahini's. It's a few doors down from a No Frills, in a plaza that has a McDonald's, Dollarama, Kaiyo Sushi, and more. I got the following items: - Regular habibi bowl (BOGO) - Beef samosas (2) I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes for my food to be ready. I drove over to this eatery and backed into a parking spot. I waited a bit before I headed inside the eatery to pick my food up. I headed to the counter on the left. A woman said hi. When I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order, she abruptly interrupted me and said that I needed to be on the right. I didn't feel any warmth from her. I felt like I was scolded by her for not knowing. It was my first time at this eatery. The only door in and out of this eatery is directly in front of this woman. Naturally, folks would head over to you, especially a newbie like me. You order on the left. You pick up your food on the right. Got it. I made my way over to the right. I had a friendly woman there who let me know that she was waiting for my beef samosas. Cool. It was enough time for me to take photos. The unpleasant woman seemed happier talking to a male colleague in front of the protein spits. I took a photo. She looked my way. She seemed to default to her sour disposition again. I had the inclination to delete the photo capturing her unpleasant expression, and take another photo once she went into the kitchen. It's one star off my rating. She clearly didn't like me. The feeling was mutual. The beef samosas were done. Yay! The other woman packed up everything and handed me my paper bag full of food. I thanked her and wished her a good evening. She reciprocated. I then headed to my car and drove home. I had the beef samosas first. OMG! They were delicious. The wrapper was crispy and not greasy. The beef filling was generous and yummy. I should have got six. Yum! I had one of the regular bowls that evening and the other the following day. I specified light hot sauce. It was perfect. The chicken shawarma was tender and yummy. I liked the toum. It had the perfect amount of garlic. The parsley provided a pop of colour. It didn't taste like anything. The rice was fluffy and delicious. This bowl was excellent. I had the other bowl for dinner the following day. It heated up nicely and was equally as yummy. I loved everything that I had consumed. I'll be back for a shawarma wrap and more. After I, and many others complained about the sneaky container switch, they have reinstated the large rice bowl sizes. While the large bowls still aren't the same as their original regular bowl sizes, the bowls are DEEPER even though they're smaller in diameter (see pic for reference). The amount of meat is back to the nice big, hearty portion size. I stopped by as soon as I could, after reading that they reverted back to having large bowls on Jan 15. The food is delicious. That cannot be ignored. Out of all the shawarma places, I like Tahini's rice the most. It's so flavourful compared to Osmow's or Lazeez. Best Chicken Shawarma! I've become a huge fan of Shawarma and I've only had it at Villa Madina and Me-Va-Me so I decided to start trying more places and Tahini's was on the top of my list based on reviews. My Chicken Shawarma was really good with flavourful juicy chicken meats and amazing toppings. I got their "old school" toppings and it was perfect. I got the small wrap and it was not small at all. We called the restaurant to ask for a replacement. We called twice, left messages, and no one answered or called back. Very poor order handling and very bad customer service. I've been seeing Tahini's more and more on social media, and each time I see their posts I instantly have a craving. Honestly their chicken shawarma wrap is next level. The chicken is juicy and tastes unbelievable. Their habanero sauce is just the right amount of spice. And the saj bread is top notch. Honestly I don't want to give this a bad review as this place is my goto spot but after experiencing this I will never go back. I ordered two habibi bowls for pick up. Picked up and got home to eat. After taking one bite I had to spit it out and realized the meat is raw. Mind you there is cooked chicken as well but it was overcooked mixed with raw chicken. Taste and ingredients were great and I tried two small wraps. One is chicken shawerma wrap and the other is the gyro wrap ( beef & lamp ). I liked the gyro wrap more. I see that the size of the small wraps are more than I have expected.. Regarding the negative points, the two wraps were not hot at all, even I felt that the chicken or the beef are cold inside the wrap, noting that I ate them directly once I took the order.... This was not a good experience at all.. And the second point is that I was expecting to recieve a discounted price as stated in the banner "50% OFF on all wraps and bowls" which was not the case... Came here for takeout and heard some hype around tahinis, so I thought why not! And wow. I'm so glad I found this place cus their serving portions are well worth it, and so flavourful. Generous portions, that could definitely satisfy your hunger. This place has various selections of meat shawarma like beef or chicken, fries, shawarma wraps, or meat and rice w salad bowls, they have party platters etc. I tried the habibi bowl which was chicken, spicy garlic, crunchy pita chips, fried onions, parsley on top of rice, and it was BOMB. I'm a sauce fan and the tzatziki sauce and hot escape that was topped up on the platter was so good ...I was so full I saved half for another whole meal! Chicken was flavourful, rice was a little on the dry side but still good. Pita chips deep fried add to the texture of the meal so you have something to crunch on! Great mix in. This place has the best middle eastern food I have ever tasted! My colleagues and I order from a location closer to work every chance we get; it is honestly our go-to place. Hey. It's quality fast food. Salad bowl with chicken shawarma for 9.99 is a great deal. I went for the large. The shawarma was great. Good texture and good taste. The salad was fresh. And Tara, who took my order made me feel comfortable about what went into the shawarma salad (I didn't want sugar, being on the wonderful Keto lifestyle). So olive oil and lemon on the salad instead of regular dressing. And no sweet peppers in the salad. Everything was great. Place was clean. My only regret was not tipping. This location is the first negative experience I have had with tahini's franchise. The Richmond Hill location is night and day compared to the Pickering location. A little bit goes a long way. First, the ingredients were not as fresh. Second, a little bit of oil before putting on the grill would take the wrap from 2 to a 4. I understand why this location was not busy compared to the location I usually go to in Pickering which always had a line. read more
