There were people chatting at the counter when we came in, so Carla didn't see that I was with anyone when I entered the store. She was sure to ask me if I needed help with anything, which is a first in the slew of comic and game shops I've been to recently. The shop is set up with different rooms devoted to your interest, with comics in one wing and games in another, and more general books and collectibles merchandise in the main room where you enter. If you head to the back, you'll find space for game playing and where Don is organizing his back stock of comics. The shop on the whole is bright and colorful, and I felt totally welcome to browse. Don and Carla had a nice word for everyone who came in the store, and it was pretty clear that they have a small army of loyal customers. The outside of the store isn't much to look at - it's situated in an industrial-looking strip mall - but don't let that deter you from the checking out their cozy shop. Even if you're not a full-on geek, there are still things for you here - several of their games are great for a game night with friends.

D&D organized play goes on during the week and some weekends and amazingly is still FREE, even though the store is providing you with the space to play. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because I wish they would have a larger inventory of Role Playing Games (like D&D) but until more people are buying these products I understand that they cannot increase their inventory. Some of the Products sold: 1. D&D, Burning Wheel, Traveller, GammaWorld, Pathfinder, 2. Specialized board games that you cannot find in normal stores 3. TCG, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, EDH/Commander, Pokemon, 4. Miniatures: Warhammer 40K, Star Wars: X-Wing, Infinity, Mars Attacks, Relic Knights, Imperial Assault 5. Comic Books 6. Dice, some miniatures for D&D and RPG's. and much, much more! Best of all, when the original store was going to close and there were no other gaming stores within 20 miles, Bear purchased the store, kept it open and gave us all a place to play for 5 years and running now. That alone causes me to be a loyal NGiT follower! Also, I help run the D&D Encounters and D&D Expeditions games at the store.

January 5, 2026 I ordered a 2026 Far Side Daily Calendar and it said it would ship from their warehouse. Today is Feb 17, 2026 and this week I was just notified that it is back ordered. I paid $18.75 for this calendar and now it's not shipping. I am extremely frustrated with this website. Luckily Barnes and Noble has them for sale for $9, so I am just getting one at that store (not the website as it's sold out).

I've always enjoyed supporting local businesses, but my experiences at Culture Shock were deeply…read moredisappointing, and I would advise others to avoid it. The owner, especially the gentleman with dreads, came across as insincere and unprofessional during both of my interactions. I brought in a crate of valuable hip hop records to sell, as I needed to cover a last-minute bill because I was the sole caregiver for my grandmother that had dementia, so her hospital bills were stacking up. I explained this to him, and I shouldn't have, but I didn't think he would take advantage of my situation. Despite showing the clear worth of my records--including a sealed original "Marshall Mathers LP" valued at over $200--the owner offered just $300 for over 50 albums of similar value. As a collector with over 20 years of experience, I knew this was a shockingly low offer. Needing the money and with other stores closed, I reluctantly accepted, but I felt completely ripped off. Later, the owner came to my home to view more records. He spent two hours carelessly disorganizing my collection, then made another unreasonably low offer. When I declined, he became aggressive, raising his voice and accusing me of wasting his time. His unprofessional conduct in my own home was appalling. I captured the entire incident on camera and seriously considered posting it, as his behavior crossed every line of respect and professionalism. Ultimately, he offered just $230. The next day, I sold the same records to Toad Hall for $1,400--over six times what Culture Shock had offered. This stark difference shows just how unfair their pricing is -- both buying and selling. While the owner's wife seemed polite, the owner (Skyler) behavior was entirely unacceptable. He clearly only values customers willing to accept unfair deals, and without his wife, I doubt this business would survive. After spending thousands of dollars here over the years, I can confidently say I will never return. If you value fair treatment and professionalism, take your business elsewhere. Toad Hall treated both me and my records with care and offered fair prices and they sell for reasonable prices as well and have a much better collection -- something I did not experience at Culture Shock.

They seem yo have a little bit of everything gift related that's Scandinavian. I've bought beautiful ceramic Christmas ornaments there and even my wedding jewelry. This last trip I found the most unique watercolor books for my son and his cousin as well as a cookie cutter in the shape of a cat- this Christmas our sugar cookies will be shaped like our kitty! They have beautiful sweaters and children's books and a variety of Nordic sweets as well. They're also really nice and helpful- although a lovely place to shop!

Once I was inside, my husband looked quickly into each of the rooms and came back and said, "I think we're going to be here a while!!"  haha!  He knows I be spending a lot of time there... They have everything you can imagine (except Lutefisk! - but that's fine with me, I didn't want any!!!). There is clothing, food, candy, cooking utensils, home décor, furniture, Christmas decorations, and so much more.  Not only do they have Scandinavian items, they have German gifts too. There were samples of a traditional Scandinavian almond cake out for people to try, and it was SO good.  I ended up buying an almond cake pan of my own so I can make it myself.  After searching the whole place for the perfect rosemal-decorated almond cake serving tray, I found one up at the cashier.  She was just about to put it on display, but I snatched it up before she could! I ended up buying an almond cake pan, a cake serving tray, 6 chocolate bars (Melkesjokolade - best chocolate bars everrrr), and a Norge sticker for my car.  I hope to be back in the area again someday, with LOTS more money.
