I found them pretty quickly - they were just sitting out on the counter so I snagged one. The store is quite large and we took some time to browse - I wasn't really looking for anything specific, but it's always nice to be able to see products in person. They had a good sale section. I loved the local recommendations sprinkled on chalkboards throughout the store - so helpful! I also loved that we were greeted when we came in - it's a small gesture but can really make a difference when visiting businesses and I always appreciate it.

There were tops, shorts, shirts, fleece, jackets, hats and a lot of winter gears. The store was a super clean and tidy. There was a nice sit down table in the middle of the store. We found some nice UV proof beach shirts for our daughter. I also liked a t-shirt and a winter fleece, but the size didn't fit me. So we bought the kid's t-shoes from the store. As expected the prices were on the higher end, as it's Patagonia. But the quality totally makes up for the price. The staff assisted us with fitting rooms, size queries and checkout process. They were very friendly and helpful.

I wish I could say anything nice about my shopping experience, but.....I can't. The women working…read moretreated me like I was an alien. I'm an artist, so everything I wear and own is covered in (dry) paint. I also carry a backpack when running errands or coming to and from the gym. I live close by and walk to downtown. When I spotted the sale outside the store as I was coming from the gym, sweaty and with my backpack for my aforementioned errands, and stopped to look at the outside sale section, one of the workers almost broke a leg running out to see what I was up to, fine I get it--you gotta deal with the potential loss prevention especially outside of the store, no offense taken. However, when I asked her to help me get a price on a pair of unmarked sweats that I wanted (lovely sweats BTW) she would not even look me in the eye and rudely stated the price after looking it up in a tone that I can only say was aggressive....I tried to make some polite small talk--but ....crickets. I decided to buy them.....so I wandered inside and dropped them at the counter as I browsed the inside of the (very small, large closet like) store and noticed that the other counter woman was literally following me around, hard to do in a hallway/one small room store, but she managed to breathe down my neck anyway. I was making polite "I'm not a shoplifter and you're making me uncomfortable" conversation, but it was pretty clear that I didn't fit their physical profile of what a high end shopper should look like with my post workout sweat, gym shoes and dried paint backpack. I felt so uncomfortable I stoped browsing, paid for the sweats and got the hell out. I said "thank you" on my way out to the woman who had helped me outside in the sale area, who didn't even look at me/respond and rolled her eyes at the same time (buuuurrrrn). BTW, I was the only shopper in the store or outside from beginning to end. I think this is a great place to shop if you look like the image that they think is appropriate, but beware if you aren't manicured to the T or are not dressed up to buy your sweats (literally WTF?). Sad that there is this much bias at a t-shirt and sweatpants/jeans store in Burlington, VT. But also kinda funny if it was funny.

As a fan and owner of Fjallraven, I will NEVER go in this store again. On a recent weekend, my…read moredaughter and I walked into Fjallraven Burlington. As I browsed the mens wear, my 9-year old Black daughter remained exceptionally well-behaved and within my eyesight. Then I heard a Fjallraven Burlington staff member ask my daughter if she were "by herself." So I walked away from browsing out into the open and asked the staff member "Sav (?)" if I could help with anything. The staff member said, "This is not a children's store. You need to keep your kid with you." The Fjallraven Burlington's staff member traumatized my daughter. No one should be treated like this. Unacceptable.

I had been thinking about buying a Fjallraven Kanken backpack (you know the one, the adorable square backpack that looks like a little kid's bag) for awhile so it was neat to see them in person and all the different colors. They also have lots of outdoor gear, other backpacks, apparel, and a sale area in the lower level. We stopped in twice during our long weekend in Burlington and the employees were really helpful and friendly, offering to show us any color of bag we could imagine and explaining some of the features of some of the products. The store is large and fully stocked with anything you need to be a cool Swedish hipster in nature! The products they sell are pretty pricey but the backpack we got is guaranteed for life and is water-resistant due to the beeswax coating. I really enjoyed checking out this shop and was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff.

What really sets this place apart is Bonnie and the rest of the staff -- they're like having your own personal stylist every time you visit, remembering your preferences while suggesting pieces you wouldn't think to try but end up loving. I can't tell you how many times people have walked up to me to compliment my outfit and ask where I bought it. Between the curated selection, thoughtful customer service, and warm, personal experience every visit, Ecco has won my heart!

There were a large number of employees working... but no one seemed interested in my presence in the store. The employees were more interested in talking to each other than helping me. Over 15 minutes of browsing before even a hello (I know this because I didn't have my parking meter long). Someone finally asked if I needed help but at that point I felt so uncomfortable I shopped around myself. When I finally found a dress that would fit my event it was covered in wrinkles. When I asked the employee about how to get them out she tried to say it was just the fabric. I explained there were multiple dresses hung, same fabric, no wrinkles. She admitted it looked like it hadn't even been steamed. She offered to steam it, but I was shocked it was on the rack like that. No one was nice and it seemed like I was an inconvenience to their socializing. The sole purpose of shopping in store is for the experience and customer service- neither of which existed. Bummer they seem to be so out of touch.

Liebling is my favorite clothing shop in Burlington. I don't have many pieces from the shop…read morebecause the clothing isn't exactly Vermont-esque and it can be expensive. That being said, if I were still living in a city, I would dress from head to toe in Liebling-style garb. Vermonter Kara Alnasrawi opened Liebling a few years ago. Kara is an ex investment banker who met her husband in Germany (thus the name of the shop). She saw a gap in women's fashion offerings in Burlington and decided to open a clothing shop with items she would wear. I'm so glad she did, because I share her taste in fashion. The brands Liebling carries have clean, simple lines, are made of high-end materials and indeed offer "casual luxury" like it states on the store's website. Sweaters are cashmere, denim is Japanese, shirts are made of silk or fine brushed cotton. The cut of the clothing is flattering but understated. I'm a big fan. Still, in a state where 90% of the inhabitants shop at TJ Maxx and similar bargain stores, I wonder how this shop stays afloat. Regardless, I'm so glad it's here to remind me of other places and lifestyles. Designers include Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, ALC, Raquel Allegra, Mother Denim, NSF, Goldsign, Inhabit, etc. And the store is now carrying Isabel Borland Jewelry. I went to college with Isabel and I love her aesthetic!!!! I'm so pleased Liebling is carrying her. Her jewelry complements the clothing perfectly. The few other women's shops in town that compare to Lieblling are Monelle (Nantucket-style clothing, lots of whites and navies, stripes, nautical cuts, cotton, linens, and some fancy dresses. Casual elegance); Whim (a bit more trendy, less classic than Monelle, less luxurious than Liebling. More in lines with Ecco); Ecco (trendy mid-range brands) and Jess Boutique (hard to describe, more flowy and mature with prints, not my bag but a lot of people love this shop). The only men's shop that is comparable in the Burlington area is Michael Kehoe. Burlington isn't exactly the fashion capital of the northeast. ;)
