When you start out as a 3 star you can go either way in a few years. Unfortunately, this place has moved steadily in the WRONG direction. Fewer and lower value beer specials, uninspired food menu (including their pitiful Tuesday taco special that packs the Topeka Tightwads in of course) and recently another slap in the customer's face a CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE! When will these small retailers figure out it's bad business to tell the majority of your customers they have to pay more for the same product just for using a more efficient (for both consumer and business owner) method of payment. The fees charged by card companies should be factored into pricing like ANY OTHER expense. read more

Went to this bar for the first time last Night (tues) there was a handful of friendly people. My buddy and I grabbed some beers and played darts. The bartender was super friendly and quick to fill out drinks. The bar is a decent size space and has plenty of TVs for whatever Game you want to watch. Not that I've experienced that many bars in Topeka, but this is not the place for me. This wasn't my vibe or atmosphere and the waiter could have cared less to do his job. He literally had zero cares to give nor did he know how to correctly write down 6 drink orders. This is a hard pass for me coming back but at least the drinks were cheap. read more

I go to Tailgators Sports Pub and Grub for Taco Tuesdays. This bar is very clean, a little on the utilitarian side with lots of metal such as tall tables and stools, a bar with wooden chairs and large booths. There are lots of TV sets and sports decor. I have never ordered any food other than the tacos on Taco Tuesday at noon time. They are $0.75 each. Regular size taco shells with fresh lettuce, shredded cheese and flavorful taco seasoning on the ground taco meat. I order three tacos and a Diet Rite cola at a cost of $3.75. Can't beat that for lunch. And I love RC Cola which Diet Rite is an RC Cola brand. The restaurant fills up fast as soon as the bar opens at 11:00am, so other people must like Taco Tuesdays as well. read more

This is one of those reviews where I feel the need to say something nice before I completely lose people in a sea of negativity. So here we go. The place is clean enough and for Topeka you can tell the owners spent some time and money planning out some of the different aspects of this bar. The outdoor patio area is nice and has big garage doors that open. In the summer this would be pretty cool. The seating area is small but I've not seen it full recently. As far as the negatives, there many. The staff was okay, but usually were busy fawning over the few obvious regulars (read friends) to care about us. Second, for being a bar, I had my first three drink ideas shot down because of a lack of ingredients. Third, the food was terrible. I ordered the appetizer sampler and all it did was show me their entire appetizer selection is terrible. I could have got the same thing out of the frozen food Isle at Dillons. At least if I had the food would have been THOROUGHLY COOKED. Fourth, the bar staff has no clue how to bartend. The bartender was pouring doubles (triples? Quadruples?) into my glasses all night. And while this makes for a cheap date night, the drinks were terrible. Keep in mind this place sits right outside of some seriously wealthy subdivisions. From what I saw inside they were attracting none of them. The name tailgaters is just a name. Nothing in this place screams tailgating to me. Not the food, not the specialty drinks and most certainly not the television arrangements. read more

I've been here two times. The most recent time was after a KU game, on a Friday night. Shockingly, less than half of the bar was filled. I really expected there to be a bigger crowd, since this is located on what could be considered the "nicer" side of Topeka. I figured it would be attracting more adults, not quite wanting to be in the university bar atmosphere. Anyway - The special that we went for was $2.50 Jack and anything. Let me tell you.. They over-pour like nobody's business!!! After about four of those, my fiance and I were both pretty plastered. Even through our drunkenness we were able to tell that the appetizer sampler that we ordered was less than special. For the price, we hardly got anything and the items were all heavily deep fried. The staff was quick and helpful but I am afraid it's not enough for us to want to keep going back. read more

Worst burger I have ever eaten. Shame they take fresh beef and burn it. Ordered a burger, came to the table and was burnt badly. Refused to eat or pay for it and they brought me another. Same, same. Had to choke it down with a bunch of iced tea. Shame you take a fresh burger patty and destroy it. Never eat there again if I want a burger. Get me a quarter pounder with cheese from McDonald's instead. read more

Ive been here a few times for taco tuesday. Depending on what time you go, you might wait a long time for a table and service can be painfully slow. The tacos are ok... nothing special. Their drinks are good but pricey. A generic margarita was $4 something and a lot of their shots are $4.50. I'd rather go to a bar or mexican restaurant in town for good food and cheaper drinks. Bottom line... Nothing special to make it worth the trip. read more

Probably one of the cleanest and safest bars in Topeka. This place is pretty much your average, typical sports bar quipped with a full beer selection, big tv's and traditional bar fare for food. The food can leave quite a bit to be desired and the wine selection is super limited. It can be a fun place to stop in and visit friends, but I probably wouldn't spend an entire evening here. read more

They always serve draft in plastic cups which when it's a 32 ounce gets warm fast. Food is always over cooked jalapeño poppers should not be black. Service is extremely slow. If it wasn't so close to house would never go. read more

The bar was understaffed for a Sunday during football season, but the waitresses did a fairly good job keeping up. However it appears most the food is pre made and they just microwave it. I ordered the Bruce lee which is supposed to have melted Swiss cheese on top. Sand which was so cold the cheese didn't melt. I took one bite and that was enough. They do have a good variety of beers, but the food is less than desirable. I watched them microwave their burrito and roll it out of some wax paper. read more

The place was nearly empty, and our server must have thought she was slammed because we barely saw her and she got my side order wrong. Beer wasn't very cold, but apps were decent, although just normal fryer stuff. Wife got the Bruce Lee, and wasn't impressed. I got the smoked wings and I couldn't finish them due to the mushy texture. Probably will not be back. read more
