This place is not good for business because they have misplaced and flat out have lost my clothes...just recently they have not been able to locate a pair of pants I have had for the past 14 years!!! Drove past this place multiple times & barely noticed it. Somehow, I have managed to live for more than a few decades without ever going to the dry cleaners personally lol. My son was getting married & I needed to get my gown shortened. I looked on Yelp for a tailor close by & Tailorite had positive reviews! So it was a no brainer to give them a try. Came in on a Monday & spoke to the seamstress on my suggestion on how short I thought it should be. She had a way of reassuring me that it will be done properly without being condescending. They also offer a 10% discount for paying up front. My dress was ready by Wednesday & was done correctly. Great service all around & highly recommend them. read more

Miracle workers! I won't ever try cleaning my clothes myself again. Seriously, this place is the best. I brought in a dress (dry clean only) and a rain jacket that I had tried to hand wash, but I forgot to check the pockets of my jacket and broke a bottle of mascara, which then proceeded to cover the entire white dress and rain jacket. I was distraught. I took them, still damp, to the lovely woman at Tailorite and two days later I had them back in like new condition. My new dress was saved, as was my favorite rain jacket. I was looking to patronize a Black owned business now that I'm out of college and looking to pay it forward. I first went there because I had two dress that I just wore once and completely ruined one in the wash. These clothes weren't like the ones I was used to washing growing up. They needed dry cleaning. I was a college student and I paid good money for these dresses and I wasn't going to ruin my other one. So I stated looking for a dry cleaners. I got my bright blue dress with white piping down the sides dry cleaned and it looked fabulous. No color loss or anything. By putting down a the money right then and there, I was able to get a small discount too. I've since gone to other dry cleaners, but they weren't the same. Some only accepted cash and still couldn't get the gel deodorant stains out of my clothes and used pins to attach the clothes, not safety pins like Tailorite does. Another accepted my DEBIT card, but no early discount, had a purchase minimum, and several items came back with holes (these were not black owned businesses by the way). I've since moved back from the suburbs of the last six months onto the south side again and I couldn't be happier. I have mostly done winter clothing*, but yesterday I have dropped out my first $300 coat I've ever bought (trying to distance myself from my old college attire). It's the same coat the Obama girls wear from J. Crew -- The double cloth lady day coat that's lined with thinsulate. It's a light color (mystic lilac) and so everything that could latch onto it has. Dirt, grime, and grot has completely soiled my new coat and because of it's light color, it's very visible. I have dropped it off and will write a review as time permits. *wool, angora, and cashmere sweaters and skirts. I have also given them 100% silk tops. They have always came back looking brand new. They have fixed a fallen hemline for me for free once. I know it was fixed because it was partly falling when I gave it to them. It was very nice of them. ETA (04/25/2015): So I received my 3/4 mystic lilac lady day wool coat from J.crew back and it is beautiful! I did a number on this coat. Every stain is gone (or faded to such an extent that you can barely see it). The coat was complexity soiled. The coat had stains on the neckline, wrists, pockets (mostly right hand), front hem and lower back leg area on the coat. The area that is very faded is the water stain on my lower back leg part of the coat, My fault really, I tried to get the stains out myself and the water caused a stain in and of it's self. But Again, it's very faded. You can barely notice it. Everything else was wiped CLEAN! And for only $12, I will be going back. My next trip will include two dresses in need of new zippers. read more

I bought an off the rack sample wedding dress. The dress was in great condition, but it was pretty dirty especially the train. I was fearful of having it dry cleaned because I couldn't risk it being damaged before my wedding. When I took it into Taylorite on Cottage Grove, I asked to speak to Mr. Coldwell, the owner. He was kind enough to explain to me the cleaning techniques he would use and basically gave me a mini dry-cleaning class. He also made me feel that he understood how important the dress was to me. I left the dress to be cleaned feeling as confident as I could that the dress would be returned in a wearable condition. When I got the dress back, not only was it bright and clean, it was a color that I wasn't aware of. I had no idea how dirty it was until Taylorite brought out its true beauty. It almost glistened. What a great job they did and for a price lower than the other two cleaners I priced. They proved that they not only do a good job with my normal clothes (they are my usual cleaners), but they also can rock with the most important garment a woman will ever have in her wardrobe! read more
