Ive used this place for years and they constantly damaged my clothes and ruined nice pieces of clothing. However is responsible for washing clothes slashes bleach everywhere. Many articles of clothing will have bleach stains everywhere. When I complained and asked for reassurance that they wont ruin anymore of my clothes they canceled my scheduled pick up the morning of my pick up and all my clothes were stolen from the pick location. They also sent the email attached. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, NEGLIGENT and CARELESS... Do not trust them with your clothes!! Im seeking legal action. read more

Wow... I'm absolutely amazed at how wonderful my experience with Real Deal has been. I'm moving and was too busy to do the huge amount of laundry that had accumulated, and I was starting to panic because I wasn't going to have enough time to get it done. I paid for same day service, and after arrive l arriving right on time, the friendly rep met me right at my front door and took the several bags of laundry. They finished the laundry super quick, and just finished dropping it off - again, the rep was super friendly. I was busy with my work and I do not have any time to bring my laundry to a laundromat but I am glad that I found Real Deal Laundry Service from Yelp and then immediately contacted them and they were very responsive and I immediately got an appointment the next day. They told me that a man will get my laundry and the man really came and he was polite. My laundry includes bed sheets, my dirty clothes and comforters, blankets and pillowcases. I wish I could give them 20 stars. I use the service when I have been on the road for work for an extended period and end up with more laundry than one human should even have the capacity to dirty. Living in a walk up, it takes me hours to haul down all the laundry to the laundry room in my buildings basement where inevitably all but one machine is "out of order", load after load, and then drag it back up three flights of outdoor stairs in the winter, to then have to endure my personal nightmare of folding and hanging it all. I once pulled someone out of a car fire, but ten hour laundry marathons is where I draw the line. They pick it up from my door, always on time, always friendly no matter how many embarrassing bags I have, and always deliver right on time, beautifully folded, smelling amazing, with all of my work shirts and dresses on hangers, ready for me to put away (even though I honestly end up leaving it all in the bags for days...weeks...until I need them to come again, I may have a problem). I set up an early morning pick up time the following day. The man who picked up my laundry was prompt and kind. I gave him a few bags of laundry and even supplied my own laundry detergent for one of the loads. The Real Deal emailed me that night saying my laundry was complete with an invoice. After our gradually exasperating experiences with Pressed, we eventually found a superior alternative, Real Deal Laundry. So far (knock on wood) they have been timely, helpful, and most importantly, competent. One of our biggest concerns with Pressed was their inability to consistently handle special-handling requests like line-drying, which Real Deal has been much better at. To be sure, the available time frames are a little more restricted, and the online interface is a little more cumbersome, but it is worth it -- highly recommended for those with laundry issues. read more

They did not disappoint. They had the most competitive pricing and quickest turnaround (24 hrs). Most places required an additional day for comforters. Pick-up and drop-off was on time. What a lovely morning! My new white sheets are so soft and fresh smelling. I want to stay in bed all day. But I smell coffee. Oh, so tempting. I know. How about grabbing a cup and crawling back into bed? Delicious. Is that my phone? Aaaaah. Well, this mug looks full, but I think I can balance it. Here, the corner of my mattress looks stable. Be right back. *sigh* Also consider: I found a skirt and stockings in a closed plastic bag under my bed, filled with water. Gross. Can't explain it. Three sweaters that are "dry clean only" but I'm too cheap to get cleaned. (They were like $20 each. Let's not be silly) A soft white sweater on which I spilled half a cup of tomato based chicken curry, and allowed to dry. I live in Hyde Park, and always believed my only option was Kimbark Laundry, which charges $1.75/lb. But I found the Real Deal Laundry on Yelp, and was happy to see that they covered Hyde Park, despite being on the West Side. The only place I've found that cheap is this crappy little laundromat in Boston that charged me $5 for delivery despite being down the block from me, and would wash everything together in hot water and dry at high heat, handing me back a load of faded blacks and yellowed whites and light colors. Not a problem with this place. Everything came back perfect. I didn't sort anything, or even point out any of the problem pieces described above. I had two giant garbage bags and no special requests. That alone would have given Real Deal Laundry five stars. But there's more. The owner was incredibly accommodating and sweet. Pick up days are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Drop offs are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I scheduled a pickup for a Monday night at 9 or 9:30. When stuff came up and I felt a scrunch, I called and asked if they could come around 10:30, which is later than their pick up times. Michael, the owner, apologized and said that was later than they could do. I said that was all right, and I'd be sure to be home by the original pick up time. Ten minutes later he called back and said he doesn't want me to rush, and that he could come at 10:30 as I asked. So awesome. But I'm a pain in the ass. I asked if he could come the following morning, which was normally a drop off day. And he agreed to it! And was super sweet about it too. I scheduled a pickup for 8:30 the following morning. He arrived at 8:20. Okay, minor setback. He's attractive. And now he's going to be seeing my dirty clothes. Oh no! Shit. Now what? Too late to back out now. I told him I needed the clothes back the next day at 5:30am! I had a flight at 8 and wanted to be able to have my clean clothes to choose from. He arrived at 5:20am the following morning, polite and charming and bushy tailed. Everything was in order: pressed and fluffed, with a few of the more delicate items on soft cardboard hangers. Seriously, as good as it gets. Cheap as hell. Great quality cleaning. Superior and sincere service. The kind that's so good it makes you feel good about yourself. PS. Make sure you have cash on you for a tip. They don't have a way to run the tip on a credit card. read more

Then once its all washed, it sits for sometimes weeks, alternating from the bedroom to my closet when I need to find something and then back in the closet when I am sick of looking at my gigantic pile of clothes. We had an embarrassing amount of laundry to be tended to - we hadn't washed our winter clothes prior to going on a warm holiday, so we had both warm/cold piles of laundry upon our return. To top that, we also had a set of king-sized sheets, six large towels and enough workout gear to outfit an entire gym. I won't even admit to the total poundage.... let's just say, we had three enormous bags of it - and we needed help. After reading the awesome reviews here on Yelp, I scheduled (online) a 6:30 a.m. pickup from Real Deal. They do inform you to pad that time by a half hour on each side, just in case the driver/pick-up/drop-off is early/late. I was traipsing our last hamper downstairs at 6:22 a.m., when the most gentleman of gentlemen was already at the doorstep, picking up the first two. He informed me they'd be ready by our set time the next day (7 a.m.) and to have a great day. Last night, I received the invoice via email from Real Deal. You have an option to either pay directly online (yes!) or upon delivery of goods. I paid online - super fast, super easy, super awesome. This morning, at 6:45 a.m., Mr. Gentleman called and said the laundry was ready and he was at our apartment! I walked downstairs to greet him and grab the bags, but he insisted on helping - bringing two HUGE hulking bags upstairs for me. Had I known this was going to be the case, I would have had money to tip him, but next time, rest assured, he'll get his due! Our clothes are immaculate. They smell amazing. They are folded better than what you see in a retail shop, and all of our button-up shirts were on hangers and in plastic! I've never folded my untouchables before in my life, so this is a real treat (and they fit so much better in my drawer ha!) The reviews are real, folks. Pros Convenience - schedule a time for pick-up & delivery and they're there, you can pay online or at delivery Clothes were perfectly folded Cons A lot pricier than I expected. Maybe I misunderstood the website, but I didn't realize that they were throwing all the clothes into one washer. So indicating that my colors are washed in warm water and the darks/blacks were washed in cold water led to an additional charge of $16. For a small bag of laundry my total came out to $52. If you don't mind all your stuff thrown into one washer regardless of their wash instructions this service is for you. I won't be using their service again. read more

We've been using Real Deal Laundry for 3 months and I continue to be impressed by their service. Yes, their prices did go up slightly but they are still worth it. Recently, they shrunk one of my new dresses in the wash. An honest mistake that I guess anyone could make... However, the reason they are awesome is that on the day I informed them of the error, they not only apologized profusely in person and with a letter, but they also drove out to Skokie and purchased the dress to replace the shrunken one. We used RDLS for several months. The convenience of pickup/dropoff service was something we were excited about. Unfortunately I found the actual quality of the laundry services lacking, as there were two expensive men's shirts destroyed by I don't know what. We always made a point of separating the items we wanted to get special treatment, and still bad things man. It also seems like everything was I don't know how to say it, but "overdried"!? They no longer do same day service, and in addition to the price per pound, there is delivery fee. I recently moved into an apartment in the Bucktown neighborhood that wasn't equipped with an in-unit washer/dryer or coin operated laundry. Because of this I was forced to search for a local laundromat. During my search I came across a few wash/dry services that seemed to be a life-saving alternative. After looking at prices and reviews I decided on Real Deal. The process was simple. I filled out a form the gave me the option to choose my pick-up and drop-off times, I chose 6:30 am for both because I work mon-fri. A nice gentleman called me once he was outside and he met me at the door to pick up my 2 baskets. He asked if I had any requests/questions and I asked how payment worked. He explained that I could use cash/check/card - he left and I went back to bed. Later that evening I received an invoice for just slightly under $50. I paid by card and that was that. Next morning - same guy delivers my clothes folded beautifully in my original baskets. Easy peasy. I was hoping for the cost to be more in the $35 dollar range so that it could be a realistic option to use permanently. I had no idea how much my clothes would weigh (I don't currently have a scale) so I knew this first trip would be a guessing game. The first 25lbs are $35 and anything additional is charged at $1.35 lb. My laundry weighed 36lbs which lead to the additional charges. This initial charge also included 10 line dry items which I believe is very fair. I am going to try the service again in 2 weeks to see if I can stay under the 25lb threshold by hand washing some of my delicates at home. If it works I plan on enrolling in the monthly plan which is $60 per mo for 2 pickups - each accomodating 25lbs of laundry. All in all, I highly recommend this service - just weigh your clothes first so you know what you're getting into :) read more

While the prices have gone up a little since the last reviewer quoted, they still are very comparable to what you'll pay for drop off service at your local laundry. And not only does Real Deal drop off and pick up, in my experience, they do a much better job. Michael, the owner, is always on time. He's always smiling and is just a pleasure to deal with. Everything we've sent over the last few months- from bedding and towels to my girlfriend's thin shirts that I hate to fold- have come back perfectly laundered and folded. I also love that we get to pick from several name brand detergents and softeners. We use Tide and Downy. We purchased one of the prepay packages which provides weekly pick ups and a slight price break. I have to say that Real Deal is the best money I've spent on anything recently. This service has increased the quality of our lives dramatically. WE NO LONGER HAVE TO DO LAUNDRY!!!! And after factoring the cost of the machines, detergent, softener and our time and frustration we're actually saving money. My husband and I have a laundry situation. I don't mind the washing and the folding, but I can not stand the hauling up and down from our 3rd floor walk up. He can not stand the washing, folding, or waiting, but is helpful with the hauling. Then there's our building with two washers and two dryers that may or may not be available and may or may not be working that day. Ugh. My clothes were promptly picked up by a friendly gent who hauled off my two GIANT laundry sacks of clothes and linens in need of spring cleaning. 24 hours later that same smiling man showed up with fresh, neatly folded laundry. I'm probably the only person you know who purchases and moves into a condo with a coveted washer and dryer... and then immediately calls the Real Deal Laundry Service. But why, you ask? Because my comforter will just not fit in my lovely new machines. And during move in week I had zero time or desire to schlep it to the laundromat. So in the midst of the unpacking craziness, I hopped onto Real Deal's website, booked a pickup for the next morning and paid extra to have it back the same day (I'm one of those people who likes to be buried underneath my blankets while I sleep, so the thought of going one more night without my comforter was... well, uncomfortable). They arrived right on time, picked it up with a smile, and returned it later that day all fresh and clean and SCENT FREE! because you get to pick your own detergent and I am a dye/perfume free girl when it comes to all things laundry. Real Deal called me back within minutes and the gentleman on the phone was SO nice. Like, ridculous, I want to be his best friend nice. Hands down, Real Deal has the best customer service you'll experience. He came to get my laundry that evening right on time (which I had literally 80 pounds of). Asked me if I needed any special detergent,and was super nice when I asked him to wash the bag since it had dog hair on it. My laundry came back first thing Monday morning, once again, exactly 5 minutes before he said he'd be here. He hung up the stuff that needed to be line hung (which is care I dont even put into my own clothing, and means he actually read the tags). Not to mention they folded everything perfectly, it literally took me like 5 minutes to put everything away since it was already so neatly.
