I am writing this review as a warning to other dog owners. After using Tails-A-Waggin Dog & Cat Inn many times over the last year for both daycare and boarding, my female lab has been left with what appears to be serious PTSD, particularly relating to long objects like sticks. We do not know what happened while she was in their care, but her changed behavior strongly suggests a traumatic incident occurred during her last stay. Before this, we had used them many times in the last year without any issues. Our last experience, however, was unacceptable. Her change in behavior is heartbreaking and our trust in this facility is completely broken. I wish we had paid closer attention to the red flags other customers have noted in reviews, such as injuries and a lack of accountability from management. Like other reviewers, we now believe this facility's quality of care has seriously degraded since July 2025. Do not be fooled by past positive experiences or the assumption that your pet will be fine. I cannot in good conscience recommend Tails-A-Waggin Dog & Cat Inn to anyone. Please consider a different facility for your pet's safety and well-being. read more

Dreadful place owned by a dreadful woman. Kat is her name. The way she berates her employees in a crowded lobby full of customers is abhorrent at best. (No wonder why they're always hiring.). I have witnessed her on multiple occasions screaming and "correcting" her employees in front of guests. The staff were consistently friendly and they loved my pups. You'll be placed on a LONG hold if you call, even if it's just inquiring about pickup times. I've been on hold for so long in many occasions that sometimes they just hung up. When you pickup the dog, Kat will beg you to buy her stale popcorn, do photography sessions, or whatever her new kooky ventures are. My last visit was when she informed me she let my dog sit in its own poop for the weekend without baths. Spend your money elsewhere and support a different kennel. read more

My puppy loves this place! Doggy day care at its finest. Great customer service at the front desk. Also good for boarding it seems. Lots of people I have talked to swear by it. My 6 month old puppy gets to play with his labradoodle puppy pals and another puppy for several hours each day. He is tuckered out after the day there. We have also done the grooming service for the pup and our senior dog and they did a good job. We will be long term customers. read more

THIS PLACE TRAUMATIZED MY DOG. DONT PAY FOR EXTRA ADD ON SERVICES, they do not occur but you will be charged. This place should be shut down. We've taken our pup here over the years for grooming and boarding while on vacation. Probably boarded there a couple of times 2 or 4 yrs ago and had not returned until we boarded for 10 days the end of may 2022. Prices are significantly higher and quality significantly degraded. Informed by staff our dog was given a bath (and charged for it and tipped groomer) and the dog was absolutely filthy and fur matted and thinning/balding. We had requested a nail trip and our dog was returned with nails cut down into the quick w/dried blood. Staff informed me adamantly that they did not trim the nails (which i believe) but said rather he ran on cement down to the point he was bleeding. When inquiring why the dog was dirty if bathed I was informed that he www never on the grooming list, then told he was but wasn't groomed cause they only groom dogs picked up between 4-6 (never once told us or listed this info anywhere and if so-why did the staff member giving him to us say he was bathed knowing it was the morning)? Told manager would contact me for a refund on groomer services not completed. Heard nothing back, called again, finally someone asked for card info only, refunded exact amount and ended the call. I never write bad reviews, I made attempts to discuss what happened with management/staff and was never called back. Never return here. read more

My two Brittany's just love this place. When out of the car they rush to get in and at times pushing the doors open. Then when I turn to leashes over they are pulling the attendants back to the area they stay and play never looking back at me. Reliability Tails a wagging, has great prices. My dog is usually ok. The big issue is the unprofessionalism of the establishment. One, they apparently have an online system, which you can book, but not pay, due to not understanding how to add payment processes to their site. Their email mechanisms are completely flawed. The process is excruciating unpleasant. I made the reservation in November. I called to add a payment, the person on the phone was not available to take payment (a call goes to a cell phone, the person is not always in the office). I received a email 12/3 regarding immunization, when I called, the owner was very eradic, and combative. I let her know, that my business will no longer be there as I have to search for another place to board. Your system is horrible. I will recover, but your business is very unorganized. On top of that, the owner is very irate and agitated. I in calm voice notified her of this. She even was telling customers that walked in to confront their reservation of the same thing I called about. I will most likely never use this shotty service again. Not saying boarding and talking care of you dog is bad there, they are just bad at the business part. A note to the owner, check your attitude at home, we are customers paying for your business. The management and employees are grossly incompetent. I had only brought my dog a few times and when I knew he was going to be neutered I asked them if they were capable of handling a dog after neutering and wearing a cone. The manager (Kat) assured me that they were capable of handling it and it would be no problem and they would keep him confined away from other dogs so it's not to injure himself. Having no reason to believe otherwise, I brought my dog three days after neutering wearing a cone and again confirmed with a manager that she and her staff would be capable of keeping an ion him. Again she confirm this and brought him back. When I picked him up at the end of the day the cone was on backwards, rather than covering his head it was inside out covering his shoulders. The young man who brought him out didn't even Seem to realize that there was a problem, and the young woman at the front desk said that she had seen him like that hours previously and he thought it was weird but didn't do anything about it. I later called and spoke to the owner (Gary) requesting that he pay for the veterinarian bill which was incurred due to my dog tearing his stitches while in their care. The owner left me a voicemail saying he would do so but 2 weeks later and there has been no check. I dropped off the receipt in person and Kat was at the front desk and behaved unprofessionally.Based on my experience, I would question the safety of any animal here. read more

i want my dog back, my kids dad who is out of the picture mostly, bought my kid a dog for her birthday a few years back when he was a puppy because she has autism and he helps her calm down because she loves corgis its her favorite dog her whole bedroom is corgi themed and she has multiple stuffies that she carries around , he has been her dog for 3 years now but the dog lives with her dad recently for us going out of town for a bit but he put him here without telling us because he also went out if town last minute and left him here and now the bill is up to 5000.. they wont understand or let us do any compromise with payments even though this dog had been going here occasionally over 2 years almost so its not like we are a new customer not to trust. read more

Eye infection, ear infection, injured paw, vomiting, diarrhea, and dirty. Every year we go on a family vacation and our dogs usually board well. This year, we boarded our 2 bichon frisés at Tails-A-Waggin for 2 weeks in June 2019. They both received a bath before boarding; yet both were very dirty when we picked them up. Both dogs lost weight. Belle went from 16 pounds to 13 pounds, developed an ear infection, refused to eat her food, and vomited for the first two days home. One had diarrhea (not sure which one). George developed an infection (or maybe it was an injury?) in his left eye. He was scared of the young caucasion male staff member (George shrank away from him when he approached to point out the injury on his paw; very strange because George is normally very cheerful and loves all people). I called to find out what happened to George's eye. I left a message, but no one returned my call. These photos are after I bathed George and irrigated his left eye. We will never trust Tails-A-Waggin to care for our dogs again. read more

As noted by many reviews on here, the manager is unprofessional. Her tone of voice and lack of respect should have been the sign to walk away. I didn't read these reviews until after I decided to cancel our reservation, but I wish I had. I was repeatedly spoken down to in a rude and demeaning voice about bringing in an older dog. This occurred during the initial phone call, during an initial assessment appointment, and even went as far as her making a call 3 days before our trip to warn me that they might turn me away at drop-off based on another mobility test that they would perform. Note, I brought our dog in for an "assessment" a few weeks prior where she had a chance to see that our dogs' mobility is still great. I told her that the constant harassing about my dogs age was hurtful to which she replied that maybe I need to find somewhere else to care for my dog, again, 3 days before our trip. The owner Gary was very nice and easy to deal with, as were the techs, but if the manager speaks with such animosity towards humans I have no confidence that my dog would be well cared for. read more

My two pups love love love this place. They have been there many times for one night stays to an entire week. They come home happy to see us and so tired from their stay. I always get the play time so they can run around and get some exercise. The prices are great too. So glad I found a place close to home so I don't have to harass my friends to watch my dogs. :) read more

It's nice to find a place where you feel safe about leaving your luved ones. We've used them over the last 3 years at various times of the year to board our dogs. While our 15 year old boxer mix was nearing her end they treated her with style, kept her in an in-door kennel and cleaned her up real well just before we got back. Of course that was an extra charge but well worth it. Our dogs are always happy to see the staff, dogs know good people. Their groomer does a great job, with nails and a wash and trim. Never too much perfume and makes even the mutts look good! Our small Lhasa mix gets worried while we are gone and sometimes will not eat very much. They actually called us on vacation to ask us questions about her behavior, to me this shows that they had a great concern for her welfare. They actually tried to hand feed her soft food to get her to eat. The staff always knows you, if you are regulars, and greet the pups as if they were one in a million, well of course we think they are, and they do too! They'll tend to your pups needs, daily meds, daily exercise, and grooming. read more

The person who manages this kennel (Kat) is likely one of the most unprofessional people I've ever encountered. We used this kennel because it was convenient for short periods of time. I was always skeptical, however, of the quality of care, so if we were out of town for long periods of time we would take our little guys to Cascade Kennels down in Woodinville (an amazing place...FYI). Kat's poor management of processes for checking in/ out led to ridiculous wait times for customers, and her failure to focus on basic customer service led her staff to believe it was ok to place a customer calling the kennel via phone on hold for 10+ minutes. Often, you would just be hung up on. One of our little guys is currently battling cancer and has difficulty in terms of mobility. Kat was quick to let us know her staff didn't have the patience to care for a dog with mobility issues and openly admitted to allowing him to sit in his own feces for long periods of time. After advising us that she didn't want to care for him again, she literally praised us for being wonderful customers and asked us to write a positive review for her. Umm...really? On top of her constant unprofessional behavior, which often manifested as her demeaning employees or acting verbally abusive toward them in front of customers, she is always trying to sell something... When she had a kettle corn business, she tried to push kennel customers to buy bags of the stale snack, and when she decided to become a DYI pet photographer, she asked so many times to take pictures of our dogs that I literally stopped going in the kennel and would just send my partner to check the dogs in or out. Do I enjoy having to drive farther for a quality kennel experience? No, but I know that where we currently take our dogs is trustworthy. Do I miss Kat's unacceptable behavior? Absolutely not! I will close by saying that other front desk staff were always friendly and complimented our dogs. They would obviously get frustrated with Kat, but I always appreciated their kindness towards us. read more

Wow !! I'm very impressed with this place! Price is absolutely incredible plus my everyone I pick up my dog she is super happy and excited. I have a 1-yr old lab/husky with lots of energy and for $14 I get full daycare and play time. She runs, plays and makes friends while I work my 8-5 job, we pick her up around 5:30 and by he time we get home she is all tired up from all the exercise and good time. They have a big patio and I guess she runs and plays a lot because her collar got very dirty but I think that's good.. It means she had fun! :) which makes me very happy! read more

We absolutely LOVE Tails-A-Waggin! They love our little pup like he's family! They are excited and welcoming every time we come in or call! They have taken him at the last minute with zero reservations more than once, ALWAYS with open arms and a smile! Reservations are also easy to do online! Our little dude, Zeus loves going, he gets tons of attention and we always feel he is their priority when he's there! We have always had the best experiences with Kat and her team! They are accommodating with medication, food, and even have slipped our little guy extra treats here and there (with permission, of course). We are soooooo blessed to have Kat part of our family! Due to a death in the family, I needed help boarding our pets. I gave detailed instructions to day before. in three hours before boarding my flight, I dropped off the dogs and the two young girls we seen dragging the dogs down the hallway after a zero communication with instructions on how to deal with the dogs. I felt concerned and walked down the hall and peaked around the corner and seen the girl, pushing one of the dogs into the kennel as my pet was sitting there shaking I open up the door and explained the instructions were to communicate with them. When you first meet them, let them know that you're there to care for them she still ignored, communicating with the dog so he intervened to help out. I question both of the girls if they've been trained since I've been to several boarding places over the last 15 years never once did I see a handle come out and that speak with a dog say hello to a dog or know how to handle a dog I immediately got online and noticed that there was multiple complaints for similar instances and confronted the manager who didn't seem to care the least and didn't realize I heard her tell the other girl make sure you get his credit card now I asked for the owner to come out, but he said he was too busy and I definitely would reconsider taking my pet here read more

I had to drop a dog off here and was honestly disgusted. The place looks broken down and dirty. They sell pedigree which is just a terrible food. The front desk girl didn't really seem to know what she was doing though I don't blame her for that (poor management is likely the cause). Instead of REQUIRING the Bordetella vaccine in advance they administer it there. By who though? I doubt by a trained vet. On top of not being professionally administered, I don't know if they did an injection or intranasally. Either way, the time it takes to be affect was longer than the dogs stay. It has no affect same-day. Again, who even gave the dog the vaccine? Next was the most annoying and concerning thing. They do not take the dogs bed, bowl, or toys. They consider these things "donations" if you leave them there which is just absurd. When you take a dog away from everything they know and put them in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar barking dogs AND refuse to let them have anything that may comfort them you are causing undue stress on them and it is just plain cruel. And if you bring their food in a bag? They poor it into a dirty old bucket...which they just poor back into the bag and the end of the stay...What is the point in that? I will NEVER take my dogs here and I have advised the owners of the dog that they shouldn't take her back there either. The only reason she was taken here was because it was an emergency situation. Tried this place out because of the reviews and I regret that I did. I took my shih tzu in for a hair cut, as I have ever recently moved and this place is alot closer to me than the old salon I would take him to. The main reason I will not be coming back is that the snipped the skin under my shih tzu's left eye. They did inform me of this when I picked him up. It took two different trips to the vet for different meds as he got an infection. I feel so horrible that I trusted this place. Never again! read more

I started taking my dog to this kennel 10 years ago when she was a baby. Everything seemed fine, the food she was fed was of a decent quality and she always came back home nothing more than tired. I got a second dog and stayed with the kennel since they could stay together and I got a discount for the two. After some time, the food quality dropped and I felt like the place wasn't kept up as well. Customer service was ridiculous, but I guess I could deal if I was just leaving them for a day or two here and there. Then... I picked my dogs up after a weekend and my eldest one was acting funny. Her belly was sore and she got snappy if you tried to touch her, but there were no marks. I figured she had accidentally hurt herself. She got better quickly. The next time I took them back, same thing. She came back in even more pain, but this time there were very evident bruises all over her stomach. I called the kennel and, without being at all confrontational, reported the problem. I expected a little concern and a "we'll look into it". Instead, I was bombarded with outrage that I could even assume someone who worked there would injure my dogs. I told them again I wasn't making accusations and that I was just reporting the problem. More attitude... Needless to say, we don't go there anymore and I haven't kenneled my dogs in over 2 years. It's like choosing a babysitter for your kid: If you feel at all weird about anything, move on. read more

After about 15 years of using them, I have to revise my review down a bit, and I don't think I'll go back. They are fine, safe care for dogs that don't need special attention. However, when we picked our dogs up after Thanksgiving, I was afraid I'd have to put my 14 year old Dalmatian to sleep; she was in such poor condition. She couldn't stand up (had to be supported) and had sores on all her knees -- clearly she'd fallen and struggled, unable to get up. I don't think anyone thought to keep water in her reach, as she drank half a jug of water when she got home. Took 4 days before she could walk again and was back to herself. I just picked the dogs up from a week stay at a new kennel, and the Dalmatian is energetic and prancing around cheerfully. read more

We used to board our large dog here, but no more. The customer service is terrible - you can never actually get a live person when you call; it's endless voice mail and phone tag. The staff was always unprofessional and uninterested, and appeared to be extremely inexperienced. Our usual kennel was booked for Christmas so we decided to give this place a try, sad day. Their customer service is lacking with no formal intake process or paperwork, just a stack of note cards. When we picked up our dog, I was informed that he chewed through a reusable bag (why this was left within reach, I'm not sure) and when I arrived home I noticed that his slip lead had also been chewed and was hanging on by a thread that had blatantly been tied together to somehow preserve it -- no one pointed this out to me so I could make sure the leash didn't fully break when we went to our car (this place is located next to a busy street). He has never shown destructive behavior at home or at his usual kennel so the environment must have been extremely stressful, no thanks. Also, their Christmas/July 4th "deposit" is actually a fee, so don't expect this payment to be deducted from the total price. This should be changed on the site from a deposit to a fee. If you are searching for a boarding kennel for your dog, skip this place. read more

We have been taking our two 13 year old dogs here for the past ten years. One of our dogs was bitten while staying at this establishment over the summer. We had specifically asked that our dogs not have any contact with other dogs, since one of them has lost her hearing and is easily scared. We brought them home from their stay, and noticed a large dog bite on one of their backs. We attempted to reach the owners, and did not receive any call back, until he happened to answer the phone after numerous attempts. They wanted proof, and after sending them the photos of the bite, and copies of the veterinary and pharmacy bills for her antibiotic, we still did not receive any communication. I finally had to to go in after a month with copies of the bills, and photos of the bite in person for them to validate that it occurred at their kennel. We are so disappointed in this kennel and the way the owners went about listening to our concerns about our dog. The bite my dog sustained had already become infected, and no one noticed it at the kennel. And then there was no validation or apology for it occurring at their facility. I have never written a review on Yelp, and if the owners would have just apologized and taken responsibility for this, I wouldn't have been so upset. read more

My cat had to stay here during the time I was moving into a new home. So we said why not place her in a cat inn where she can socialize and still be looked after. Though the prices are pretty reasonable, you get what you pay for. They ask you for a meal schedule yet don't follow it. My cat usually eats 2 big meals and has snack time somewhere in between there but she's never scarfed food down..until she came back home. As soon as she arrived she was dehydrated, starving and had to use the bathroom. I don't know if it was because she was nervous in this place the whole time (which can't be the case since the employees here had nothing but great things to say about her behavior). Then when I went to pick her they forgot everything that she came with..including her carrier. I don't know, it just seems like something fishy is going on.. read more

I have been bringing my elderly dog and elderly cat here for a few years. They've always been well taken care of. The facility is clean and does not stink like other kennels. The staff is very personable. My dog has since passed away but I still bring my kitty in several times a year. The staff always remembers him and complements him. I drive 26 miles one way out of my way to use this kennel and that's saying a lot. read more

I've been taking my two dogs to Tails for almost two years. They love it there! I have a nickname where I call it "24-hour dog party." The staff are helpful and recognize us when we come in. My dogs are almost a little disappointed to leave Tails. I also take my basset hound in for grooming and they do a terrific job! I couldn't provide a better review for this kennel/groomer. I used Tail's-a-waggin for their pricing, which is relatively decent. My dog went and came back happy. They were also helpful when I forgot my Vet records and called the vet and had them fax over the records instead of me driving all the way home. Why I didn't give them 5 stars is because my dog initially came with a cone due to a skin injury. He had completely chewed through it by the time I picked him up, which he wouldn't have done unless nobody was paying any sort of attention. He also had some antibiotics, which they charge crazy to administer with his meals. So because of that, if you have a sick dog or a dog taking medication, this might not be the place for you. Our 5 year old cat Lydia tends to be very high anxiety and skittish to strangers and unfamiliar surroundings. So we never have boarded her. But when our regular pet sitter just days before we were to leave could not pet sit for her over last Thanksgiving we had to hunt for a boarder that still had room. We found Tails A Waggin. They were very friendly and we liked our tour of the facility. We worried our cat would not be happy, but it couldn't be helped and had no other options as we were flying to Texas and could not take her. We pretty much knew at the end we were going to probably be picking up a half bald and crazy eyed traumatized kitty as when stressed in unfamiliar environments she over grooms herself leaving bald patches everywhere. Nope... we returned and found her purring and with fur still fluffy and intact. She showed no signs of stress or anxiety. She may have for the first day or 2 but got over it quickly due to the gentle care and soothing voices. She was happy to see us but acted as if we'd been gone a day or two instead of a whole week. And she was in no hurry to leave her little cat condo. We then knew we had found her cat boarder. Sadly due to Covid we had to break the news to Lydia that she would not be having a playdate week this year. She is giving us the cold stare now. read more

I live downtown Seattle, and have previously used various boarding/daycare services in my neighborhood which were expensive and meh. Then I started working in Bothell a few years ago, and have now been bringing my 4-year old chihuahua here for almost a year. This is the best dog daycare service I've experienced so far, at HALF THE PRICE of what you pay downtown Seattle. The owners and employees are courteous, professional, my dog wags her tail off as soon as we pull in the parking lot because she's soooo excited to see everyone, and when I pick her up at night....falls asleep like a baby within minutes. $14 for 6:45am to 6:30pm daycare including supervised playtime with the other small dogs. You just can't beat it. Heated upstairs and separate playpens for each. Ask for the tour, they are more than happy to show you around. read more
