I'm really hurting to be sharing this as my experience besides this one episode was wonderful. My sister ordered the chicken saltado, my dad the papas huancaina and jalea mixta, and I ordered the classic ceviche! The food was amazing. The fried yucca was texturally perfect and there were different spice levels of garlic cilantro sauces, a nice touch. We asked for takeout containers, where the downfall of our experience happens. The waiter decides he will be the one putting our food to go (I never liked when restaurants did this). I notice he SPILLS the fried rice that accompanied my sister's pollo saltado on the counter he's at. He then moves his body to try to block us from noticing him picking up the contaminated contents and STILL HANDING US THE SAME FOOD. 5 second rule is ServSafe? The other coworkers saw him as well and turned a blind eye. I noticed the cleaning chemical spray right next to this counter too. God forbid that rice mixed with that and poisoned us. At Taipa you can always find great customer service, whether you are dining in or ordering out. Their menu is filled with traditional Peruvian dishes and other options. I've to Taipa numerous times and every time I rotate my favorites dishes depending on what I am craving. Their passion fruit juice is amazing and fresh. Their empanadas are traditional Peruvian empanadas, they have sweet and savory taste. If you are not familiar with Peruvian food Lomo Saltado is a great start. Stir-fried beef sauteed with soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes. Served with rice and fries. The Lomo from Taipa is ranking in the top two of my best Lomo list. The Arroz Chaufa From Taipa. Peruvian fried rice with beef, chicken, or both cooked with soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, red peppers, and fried egg. I went with the mix Chaufa made with chicken and beef. Chaufa is so good you'll finish the plate and want more the next day. Calamari Frito con Yuca Frita y Criolla Sauce from Taipa Restaurant. Fried to a perfect crisp the calamari is perfectly complemented by the fried yuca and the criolla sauce is the chef's kiss on the dish. When you can't decide between Lomo Saltado or Chaufa you get the best of both worlds in the Achorado from Taipa. A mix of fried rice, fries, stir fried beef or chicken sauteed with vegetables and tossed all together in wok. I went with both beef and chicken. The Causa Limeña from Taipa is good and the portion is generous. I've also tried their anticuchos, I was not aware of what I was eating when I tried it, but is definitely not for me. The restaurant is located on the east side of 137 Ave with a sign you can't miss. Since it is part of a shopping center park on the north side where you will most likely find the most parking spaces. The restaurant is a medium side venue in comparison to other types of restaurants; however, it was refreshing inside with a good ambiance and hospitality. The service was excellent as well as the attention. The menu had a good selection, and the food came out quick. Temperature was acceptable, and taste was adequate for the palate. I came here with the husband for some tasty Peruvian food!!! We were looking for a place to eat when I asked him for jalea. We searched Yelp and found this place!! Of course they had jalea and of course it was good!! For 20 bucks we got the plate and shared between the two of us. It was absolutely delicious!!! Nice restaurant for quality Peruvian food. It's not a large place, with tables mostly for smaller groups. We enjoyed most of the things we ordered. As we could not decide between ceviche and jalea, we ordered the Duo Marino, which is half and half. I wish they have them not quite so literally "in one dish", as the ceviche juice makes the fried food soggy. Otherwise, taste is good. The Arroz con Mariscos al Cilantro has lots of seafood and full of flavor. The Chupe de Calmarones is not as flavorful, but also not salty like some other places. read more

As a peruvian venezuelan I can tell you that Taipá is the best quality/price peruvian restaurant in Miami. I've been to ceviche 105, Dr. Limon, La Ma,etc. Taipá has nothing to envy those other restaurants. They have a lunch special that includes 2 dishes for 12 dollars. That is unbeatable. We were in the mood of some Peruvian food this past Friday and my father in law recommended Taipa located off 137 ave. We arrived before the Friday night rush and were impressed with the extensive menu so we decided to order the following ceviche trio, rachi, and choros a La chalaca. For us the huge standout of the meal were their choros which is mussel in its shell topped with diced onions, corn and marinated in a leche de Tigre juice. The mussels appetizer has become very rare in the Miami Peruvian restaurant circuit so it was a welcome surprise to find it here. Than came the ceviche trio which consist of fish ceviche in three ways, traditional lemon, yellow pepper and rocoto based. We requested an upgrade in which they used corvina instead of the regular fish, but for some reason their was a very fishy aftertaste. The last dish was the Rachi which was ok, it was a little over cooked and I wish they included more in the portion. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and interior had a young and hipster vibe. Amazing Peruvian in a small, quaint spot in west Kendall. Owners are lovely and truly care about their customers' dining experiences. The jalea was one of the best I've had in Miami and the price of the outstanding bottle of wine we enjoyed could not be beat. Every ceviche we tried was also incredible. I was a bit sad thinking I'd miss this place when I moved from Kendall to the Grove but I just learned they're opening another spot on Bird & Red Rd (where Blue Sky used to be) this summer ('24)! My rating is based mostly on take-out orders. The food at this restaurant rivals the best in Miami. It's in an unfortunate location but the food is authentic and SO fresh it's amazing. Today I ordered the ceviche de ají amarillo and the chicken causa (via Uber eats and then picked it up. I will order direct next time!). I was YUMing the whole way through. The ceviche flavor had just the right bite and the fish and shrimp were fresh and tender. The causa feels like a special treat--perfect temperature and consistency. I'm trying to think of an occasion to serve this at home for guests, it's so good! I've had other dishes here in the past, including their lomo saltado. Divine! As I was walking out of the place, a man hollered over to me out his car window to get my attention and asked if the restaurant was any good. I stopped, even though it was pouring rain, to tell him YES, IT'S SUPER GOOD. So, I figured I might as well tell everybody here too. I was between 4 and 5 stars, only dinging the strip mall location (and the music is too loud). Then I remembered how lucky I am to have this in my backyard. The flavors are spot on. I eat a lot of Peruvian food around town and this little place gives any of them a run for the money if not downright embarrasses them. Everything I ordered and I ordered a lot was excellent. Having been to Peru many times I know that one thing that gives the original it's superiority is access to the Peruvian lime which is not available here. Also, I must say that there is good quality and quantity for the price. I love seeing a local business go from a food truck to an establishment and keep their quality of food/service great. I appreciate the business that have this desire to make it. They make me feel proud. Here was my experience: Small little place so I got all the attention I wanted. Hispanic music so I caught myself dancing on my seat. We got a healthy and not so healthy choice if you are watching your calories and don't want to give up the taste. Good thing Peruvian food always deliver. Our complimentary toasted corn was warm. We asked for more while we waited for the food and when it got emptied, they asked if we wanted 3rd. Generous. Healthy choice 1: The classic ceviche was tasty and the mild spice was on point. The sweet potato was also roasted which is usually cold. Healthy choice 2: Lomo salteado but replaced the rice and fries with salad and sweet plantains. They offered those sides. I guess they felt bad we were not having enough sides. It was perfect. What stood out was the incredible charcoal taste from the meat. Out of this world. Not so healthy choice: Churrasco a lo pobre. Which had a mix of everything I always wanted from childhood. White rice, sunny side up egg, fried plantains, french fries, churrasco with its chimichurri sauce (parsley and olive oil) The place is small, the taste is big. Which is what happens when you used to have a food truck, having to attract customers by taste. Hope they keep it. It will set them apart.
