Came here for dinner on a weekend. Place wasn't busy and we were seated right away. Decor is fish market restaurant fresh. They have a cool mural of a shark too. We had conch fritters made with fresh tarter sauce that looked over cooked but we're actually really good and the conch was plentiful. Next we had the tostones with crab which came like an enchilada version. We weren't expecting that but it was good. For our mains (rount the table) there fish filet with rice, nicely cooked and tender. Scallops with garlic which went well with crispy tostones and a salad. I had the octopus in garlic with steamed veggies and a salad. Everything was okay until after awhile the oily garlic octopus got to be to much. I would say to easy up on the oil but other than that all was well. But honestly not rushing back anytime soon. read more

This restaurant brings me a lot of memories because I used to come eat here with my dad. Today, I went with my husband and the feeling was almost like old times. The ambience was very much as I remembered. It was spacious and clean. I ordered shrimp scampi with yellow rice, and sweet plantains. My husband ordered octopus scampi with black beans, ana tostones. My food was okay, the scampi and plantains were great but the rice was too dry. I did not like my husbands octopus scampi, but the beans and tostones were good. We ordered flan to share for dessert. Lo' and behold we unanimously decided upon Bahamas Fish Market. ***Now quick little disclaimer I will be reviewing this as a consumer who ordered takeout/delivery*** Anywho I want to start by saying the cuisine offered here doesn't meet what I stereotypically expect Bahamian cuisine to look like. When I think Bahamian I'm thinking conch, souse, etc. It was more on the Latin side, but maybe there are some Latinos in the Bahamas that I don't know about haha. Aside from the dishes mainly being Latin in nature the menu was also in Spanish (though some dishes were translated on the app). Thank God amongst the 3 of us, 1 of us knew Spanish haha. That being said the menu choices were super great and vast! I kid you not we spent an entire 30 minutes exclusively dedicated to narrowing down what we wanted on the menu. The food was good overall! I didn't order the scampi but it did smell so delectable. And my coworkers who did order it said it tasted amazingggg paired with the rice (definite highlight of the lunch and next time around Im definitely ordering that). Another thing that was pretty good was the crab empanadas! Little bit of a savory/tomato/sweet taste. My dishes were between the good/okay range. I had the snapper fingers, potatoes (papas leonesas) and vegetables (vegetales salteados). We were so hungry we also ordered dessert! My coworker got the flan and she said it was good. Not the absolute best she's had but she liked it. I had the tres leches and mine was good as well, I would definitely order it again but it's not the best I've had either. When you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess , who then sprays hand sanitizer on your hands prior to being seated. Seating is separated, signs on desk, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Never had a bad seafood meal there. Under the new owners, things changed a bit but now things are back to normal. The maduros though could use some improvement. I liked the old way better,real plátanos maduros, sweet and mushy, almost rotten.Now they look like frozen out of the box. Tostones are very good, as well as the home made mashed potatoes. The servers could be a little happier and have a little less of an attitude. Cortadito with evaporated milk is awesome. Been coming here since I was a kid with my family. The seafood is always extremely fresh! The minuta sandwich is really good, they have their own homemade sauce that goes well with it. The waitresses are always very attentive prompt and helpful. I usually always have a fried yellowtail which you can't go wrong with. Market price for a medium size is usually about $25. We ordered the fried snapper with Fries and salad, fried scallops with rice and salad, breaded scallops with fries and salad, fish croquetas and a clam chowder soup. It was fresh and delicious. It's a fish market so I feel the scallops should be big not the tiny ones. When you purchased the breaded one, you think they are the big ones and negative. I wouldn't order it again. I am rating it a 3 because of that and not enough side options just 4 Rice, sweet plantains, fried and salad. It was delivered so not sure how the ambiance is. I used to come to this restaurant growing up, so naturally-- I was greeted with a wave of nostalgia walking in. First and foremost, I highly recommend sitting at the bar area to the left of the restaurant if you aren't with a group of people, as I've noticed you get better service this way. It was just my grandmother and I so this seating arrangement accommodated us just fine. I ordered the fried snapper and my grandmother ordered scallops cooked in wine and butter. I can't speak on her dish as I didn't try it, but I asked for my fried snapper to be cooked well done because I like it extra crispy and it was perfection. Every bite of the snapper was flavorful and crispy and everything I could ever hope for a fried fish to be. It was fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. I didn't even touch my sides (french fries, sweet plantains) because I was enjoying the fish so much I was too full to even consider taking a bite of my sides once I got to them. My grandma thoroughly enjoyed her scallops and they seemed to be cooked just right, as well. I'd give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that you need to go out of your way to sit at a specific part of the restaurant in order to get the service you deserve. Otherwise, you'll be stuck in a section where all the waitresses are huddled in a corner gossiping and cleaning silverware.
