We decided to give this place a chance. My husband and I ordered General Tso and orange chicken. We brought it home to eat. When I bit in to the General Tao's chicken my first reaction was to spit it out. There was no sweetness at all. I tasted like it was cooked in soy sauce. The orange chicken was horrible too. I really believe that they made this concoction and gave my husband and I the same thing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had passed by this restaurant many times with a degree of intrigue because it looked welcoming from the road. Once inside the cleanliness caught our attention. The music playing is also welcom The food we ordered was spot on very good. They have two sizes of plates for each meal, small and large. Small turned out to be a perfect sized portion. The food arrived hot and stayed warm until we finished. Now that does not happen every day. The service is somewhat automated. You can sit at any table, order your meal, pay at the table and a robotic server will bring your meals to the table. We are in the future! After ordering your meal and sitting at your table, a robotic server brings the food to your table (I've included photos). We will definitely come back to enjoy this place again. read more

Food is awesome. Reason for me to give it a 3 star review is due to not adding napkins nor utensils on to go orders. We placed an online order and picked it up. Our plan was to get food and go to the park. To our surprise there was no napkins or utensils. When I called to let them know and for them to pay attention next time. I was informed that they don't add utensils or napkins on to go orders! That they are added upon request. That is so crazy, nowhere in their website states that. Common sense is to not assume we are going home to eat our food, even if that was the case is a to go order. read more

New owners= smaller portion sizes. But the REALLY ridiculous thing is that they now charge full soda price for a cup of ICED WATER. No smaller courtesy cup. If you're not a soda drinker that's a big deal. I get maybe 50 cents for the cup, but the water and ice is free. Now if we go I bring my own water. read more

Stopped by this evening for a quick bite at 8:20pm. Before arriving I googled to see what time they closed and it said 9pm online. So I assumed it wasn't too late. Pulled up to the drive-thru and waited in the drive-thru for over 10 minutes. Multiple people inside walked by and saw me and didn't even acknowledge me. I thought maybe they're busy so let me go inside. Pulled around up front and they had a paper taped to the door that said closed at 8:30pm. Wouldn't it have been nice had someone come up to the drive-thru and just let me know they had already closed instead of just looking at me and dismissing me. A coworker loves this place and insisted we tried it. Pros: very clean restaurant, overall friendly staff, the fried rice was yummy! Besides that, we didn't love our food. My husband got some wonton soup, and it was so very salty. He also got the triple delight and it was super spicy. My sweet n sour chicken was ok, but I've had better! One of my favorite places for casual Asian food. I especially love the robot server that brings the food to the tables.

Messed up our order and told us we have to dispute through Grubhub. Online ordering is only available through Grubhub. It's not Grubhub's fault they had the order wrong. They also didn't include the sweet and sour sauce that we asked if it was in the bag at pick up. The Kung Pow Chicken didn't have any vegetables in it either. We won't be going back as they handled the situation very poorly. read more

Taipei is 5 minutes from my house so it's always my go to place. There are not many good Chinese restaurants in new Braunfels( I can count 2 total, and that includes Taipei). I have tried wonton soup which is a very generous serving. My husband likes the Hot & sour soup. I've tried the triple delight which is great and other dishes, we are never disappointed. Taipei has that fast food restaurant look where you order at the counter . Also the drive through is only for pickup orders, not to place an order. read more

I felt rush ordering and she look annoyed to be there. I ordered a wonton soup and the wontons look unappetizing. I did not want to risk biting into one, the broth tasted like chicken broth from a box. I couldn't eat it. I didn't even return it because everything else we order did not taste good. The orange chicken is chunks of chicken breast slapped with sauce. The fried rice is literally rice tossed with soy sauce, bland and unappealing. Really enjoyed this spot. Have been on a run to try asian food in New Braunfels and have been hitting some good spots. It's not the desert I thought it was. I spotted one of my co-workers here who really loves Chinese food, so I know this is a good spot. It seems like this place has been here a long time and recently went thru a remodel. Who knows what the real story is. But it was clean, nice and comfortable. Not too large, but handled the crowd. That's a good sign. Had a lunch special. It was a good deal. Had the wonton soup and enjoyed it. Came with a micro bowl of crunchy strips to put in the soup. Not a lot, but they were good. It also came with a egg roll that was well cooked and enjoyable. Finally I had the General Tsao's chicken with brown rice. I found that spot on. Pro-tip: Park behind the building and walk thru the rear entrance. Its too bad this little restaurant no longer has owners onsite. The quality has continued to go down and tonight is the last time I will order orange chicken. What is now called orange chicken is merely chicken nuggets with some sort of barbecue sauce and no spice or orange peel whatsoever. The wontons in soup were pasty, sticky and nasty. I am hoping someone would see this review so that changes could be made. We had eaten at the original Taipei in San Antonio since it first opened and have been loyal customers to Taipei Express. I used to love this place when it first opened. Food was freshly prepared and overall great! We went today and the fried rice was hard. I ordered Mongolian beef. The beef had no flavor and seemed reheated. They didn't have sriracha either. Which would have helped with the flavor. My husband ordered general Tso beef and it just tasted funky. My wife and daughter love this place so I decided to give it a shot. When my wife and I went on a today for lunch, I was surprised that there were very few people actually eating in the restaurant. There was however, quite a few cars lined up at the drive through. But I will say this, the food was good. The soups were on point, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I had sesame chicken and my wife had sweet and sour chicken. Both were very good. The chicken fried rice was excellent. The guy that was working the counter was super nice and you could tell he wanted to please customers. The robot thing is pretty cool as well. In my opinion, the quality of condiments and side dishes show how restaurants go the little extra mile in terms of quality. They had quality soy, sweet sour sauce and mustard. Their egg rolls were great. To me that's important. The only issue I had were the restrooms. The men's room smelled very bad. The problem was that the door to the men's room was propped open when arrived. Since it's not a big place, every now and then I could get a whiff of the unpleasant smell. This could easily be remedied. All in all I like the place and will return. read more

I used to absolutely love this place but in more recently the food has not been very good or the order is wrong. Yesterday I was sick as a dog and doordashed $68 worth of food. I called in advance to see how to enter what I wanted the lady said no worries I'll make sure you get that (keeping in mind I was only adding chicken to my rice dish) and she'd add $3 to our tab for chicken which I ok'd. Food comes quite fast which was great. But extremely disappointed tasted absolutely disgusting on some things and didn't even get what I ordered on the other. 1) 2 wonton soups couldn't eat there were disgusting dough masses thrown in the bottom of broth (no wontons just tasted like actual raw dough . 2 containers of soup waste! 2) ordered pineapple chicken fried rice and paid $3 extra and not what I received...no chicken at all 3) you had your choice of noodles or rice with your lunch entree. They were gross, literally took noodles right out of boiling water, drained & threw them in a side container with no sauce or seasoning. Very disappointed, this is the third time in past few months and it's a shame now I won't be going back. $70 for food I can't eat isn't acceptable. read more

Their menu is confusing because they have different "specials." Yet with all the variety, they are not flexible. Example: all entrees are served with either chicken fried rice or steamed (white) rice. When I requested that the chicken fried rice be replaced with pork fried rice the cashier, who looks like the Latina Rebel Wilson, says "no, we can't do that." So I ordered a pork fried rice a la carte to accompany my mongolian beef entree. They serve Pepsi products from a fountain behind the counter. Free refills. That is a positive. Service and good quality is going downhill. We order the same thing every time, the family meal. We picked up our order and got home to find our sesame chicken was spicy when we asked for no spice and only 1 small container of rice when it's supposed to come with a large side. Usually they give us 2 small containers to equal the large side. I called the restaurant to let them know. The lady answer started talking with the cook. I explained we've gotten the same meal for a long time and the size we got was not equivalent to a large side. I asked if I could speak to the manager and explained the situation. The manager then hung up. I called back to ask why the line was disconnected. The lady then hung up on me. I tried to call back and now my call won't even be picked up. I don't normally write negative reviews but the customer service was not good at all. I ordered online and long story short my order got placed twice. Upon arrival they showed me a bag with double the food and blatantly lied saying they called me twice to clarify (I did not have two missed calls). I explained I didn't need that much food and she said well we made your orders and stared at me. My orders were prepared within 5 minutes so it's not like it was fresh and they made it just for me. Food was less than ok. The hot and sour soup had a funky smell. Tried it anyway. It did have tons of flavor in it to the point that I stopped eating it after a few bites. I never said good flavor. The noodles for the lo-mein had a spaghetti look and taste. Add protein and you have their beef, chicken, or shrimp lo-mein. Minus the pasta sauce. But add bland to it.
