Delicious food 10/10 service, best Asian food iv had. The beef chow mein was delicious !!

I'm embarrassed for this place! The run down outside should have been enough warning, but sometimes you find a gem inside so we gave it a try. The inside had a strong bleach smell and most tables were dirty with plates and left over food begging to be cleaned up. The server was very polite and mostly attentive. The food was a HUGE disappointment and continued the bleach theme. The wonton soup was luke warm and bland. The sweet & sour chicken was awful and tasted like they soaked the chicken in bleach. I don't know about this place. I've lived in New Braunfels a long time and would often wonder why their parking lot is empty almost all the time I drive by. My mom and I decided to eat there. The inside is quite dated, maybe that's the charm of it I don't know. I have to say the food was not good at all. The rice really didn't have flavor. The waiter was very good, in fact he was the only waiter in the restaurant and was doing double duty - serving and managing the register. The place actually had at least 4-5 tables but it was extremely quiet and a bit of an odd vibe. The food is cheap but I wasn't impressed. The empty parking lot at prime dining time should have warned us away, but I had read some recommendations on Nextdoor, so thought I would give it a try. Terrible! Greasy "fried rice"--no veggies in that rice!--wontons tasted like they had been fried in lard because of the heavy taste, and the entree's were bland. Upon entering the elderly lady who I am guessing is the owner was sweet and accommodating . Food was good and she was trying her hardest to get around to serve people which I respect. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce and it came out right away. For the price point you can't beat this. 6.90 for lunch and it includes soup, tea, wonton, and entree. What are you expecting a high end Chinese restaurant for that price? I'm surprised they can even afford to keep the restaurant open and living on that price. Some of these reviews seem to be by entitled brats who want everything to be served to them immediately. You ever thought maybe they don't make enough income to hire another staff member or maybe it's hard finding people to work now? Also, she was limping! Definitely a hard worker compared to so many of you who never a hard day in your life. Stop complaining and appreciate life a bit more. Be respectful. I finally stopped in with my daughter and I'll be making this my go-to spot from now on. Excellent service! They were super friendly and it's a family run business. The wonton soup was delicious and the egg drop soup was good too. My daughter and I got the kung pao chicken and it was excellent! The friend wontons and egg roll were the best I've had! Have never actually had the chance to eat here because my husband and I have gone to the restaurant and it was over an hour before they closed and an employee came out and told us they were already closed... on a Saturday night at 6:30... Tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. One of those places you wouldn't walk into unless recommended. There were 2 police cars parked out front so I figured if the local police officers dined here, it must be good. Prices are very good. I ordered Broccoli Chicken. The hot&sour soup and egg roll were probably I've had here in NB. The fried rice was very different but good. The Chicken in the main dish tasted a little off but broccoli was good although very small pieces. I'll probably be back to try a different main dish. read more

Let me set the expectations right away. This is not high end Chinese cuisine. For $3.90 lunch plate combo (entrée, rice, egg roll/soup and tea), you can't beat it. It's decent food. Hell, there's places that charge you twice as much and taste worse. Even though the fried rice looked more like saffron rice, not going to complain as i ate it all and it was good. We used to live in New Braunfels and this was our favorite place to eat. We moved to San Antonio and thought it would be awesome to go there to celebrate Valentine's Day, a few days after. We drove an hour to get there and were told to sit wherever we wanted; there were only people sitting at 4 other tables. After a few minutes of waiting for someone to take our drinks (which never happened) the only waitress there went to the back and never came back out. We waited a total of 10 minutes and no one said anything to us and there was no one around so we left. If you decide to go here I hope you have a better experience it just sucks we drove 2 hours round-trip to not even be helped. read more

Finally, after 9 yrs in the area and with costs of $5.95 for the lunch special, I decided to go in. As others have said the wait is like Chinese water torture (45 minutes to get my plate). I chose one of the combo lunch specials for $6.35. I wanted to sample two meats. My wonton soup came out right away; it was a salty bouillon cube type soup with 2 raw, huge noodles and no green onions. It was horrendous. I chose for my combo sesame chicken (others have raved about this) and beef/broccoli. What little meat there were were swimming in thick gravies. Both the beef and sesame chicken were chewy, and in the case of the chicken crunchy from bone or gristle, if chicken has gristle... The yellow (fried) rice was gummy and flavorless (took one bite). The brown gravy on the beef/broccoli well, tasted like "brown gravy." The sesame chicken sauce however was absolutely delicious--savory, sweet, and fragrant. I sopped up this gravy with my little eggroll. I say little egg roll because they are only 2.5 inches long but fat as my...well, you get the pic. The egg rolls were homemade and filled with fresh cabbage and a little bit of meat. Would I come back here? Only and I say only if I can order a dozen of these egg rolls for pickup. I need to check the price on this. I'd even get full for lunch with 6 because I definitely wouldn't want to reheat these. Right out the fryer or wok, they were delicious. read more

STAY FAR AWAY!! By far the worst Chinese I've ever had!! And it's a dirty restaurant. I have NEVER had Chinese food that was so bad I had to throw it away but this went to the trash before my first plate was done. The Hot and Sour soup was BURNT! Seriously burnt. Fried Rice is orange. I ordered the chow mein chicken with rice. I have no idea what it is that they served me. Chicken looks uncooked with soggy vegetables and is super runny. I've also never eaten orange fried rice. This was a total waste of $10 and is inedible. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. I will never return here if this is what they think quality food is. The wait wasn't too long and for about $16 we each got a meal, one egg roll, fried rice and a soup of our choice. It was a decent amount of food. We got home and the soup was just ok- both hot and sour and egg drop- kinda funny taste to each. The sweet and sour chicken was good, but the chicken in garlic sauce barley had any chicken in it- it was mainly veggies, or sauce. I read good things about this restaurant and my friend and I tried it. The amount of the entrée was so scant. Huge amount of orange rice. The hot and sour soup was good but missing the "hot". Peking is amazing. The lunch special let me tell you $3.99. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Kung Pao Chicken & Fried Rice nothing can compare (trust me I'm a food junky). This is a family owned business. So the lady or the kids are the only ones working. Mostly just one of them is working either the daughter or wife while the husband & another person are making the food.. So during lunch, so do expect a wait, but so worth it. They are such a sweet humble family & I've had small talk with them. When I see them super busy, I've helped them pick up plates, & clean the tables.. It's the least one can do for such a great family & business in New Braunfels. So now I understand why it might take a while, or they don't answer the phone especially during lunch time. I always recommend this place to everyone either way! Keep up the good Work! Cheap and good food. If your inpatient, this place probably isn't for you. The owner runs the place with her husband, just her taking orders so she takes a bit to get your order. I showed up at 8:20 PM on a Saturday (11-03-2018) and they wouldn't let me in the door. They signaledl to me through the window that they were closed. The Internet and the front door both say they close at 9 PM. I am certain that this experience reflects their quality, standards, and service, across the spectrum. I won't be back. And I live within walking distance, less than a quarter-mile away.
