I walked in and asked for some information for my twins and they said they didn't have any but that I could make an appointment to do a walk through. They didn't smile and were speaking very monotone. While the building and place was beautiful, it's important to remember that your front staff are extremely important in setting a tone of the business. She sustained a concussion and has since experienced trauma-related symptoms. While we hoped for concern and a collaborative path toward resolution, the school leadership instead chose to expel all three of our children after we asked for answers and safety improvements. This happened without warning, without a clear explanation, and without allowing our children to say goodbye to friends or participate in school events they had prepared for. We are heartbroken by how the situation was handled--not just the incident itself, but the school's response. We believe families deserve to know how serious matters are addressed when concerns are raised. Our experience may not reflect everyone's, but it was deeply impactful for our family. We share this review in the hope that it brings awareness and prompts reflection for others considering the school.

I randomly came upon The Cottage one day while driving, I stopped in and was greeted by Dana, the then owner, she was more than happy to give me a tour and introduce me to the teachers each of my children would have. I was instantly in love with the place, it is a school atmosphere, they don't just stick 20 kids in a room and let them go buckwild. Since then The Cottage has been taken over by new owners, Elle and Dustin, who are amazing and very diligent in dealing with any needs or concerns you have. The school has been recently renamed to The Cottage Education and Learning Acadamy, because it is more than just a daycare. Each class has curriculum type schedules, which include Science and Spanish, and parents are always informed of what is being worked on that particular week to keep it going at home. The teachers are amazing and always have the child's best interest at heart. If you are looking for the best school in the area, The Cottage is worth your time to stop and tour. Of course it costs a little more than your average day care, but isn't that the point, it isn't your average daycare! Children remember and learn the most in their youngest years and will carry their experiences with them forever, why not give them the best you can and you will find that at The Cottage!

Science Day was one of his favorites, and he told everyone about Miss Hunter (partly because they shared a name) because he wanted to share what he learned in science. He tells people all he knows about Jesus, and that his teacher, Mrs. Rablin taught him. He always said the playground is the best ever. I loved that the staff was all so great with the kids. They are patient and kind, and yet firm. The kids know what is expected of them and what they can expect in return. This school provides a wonderful and positive environment for learning, growing, and making memories!

This is a review of an actual experience at Montessori Central as a parent whose children attended…read morethe school over the course of four years. Montessori Central is a welcoming, nurturing place for all children. Young children learn about the world through hands-on, stimulating, colorful lessons they choose for themselves. I was repeatedly amazed at the things my children learned at such a tender age. One night before bed, when my oldest was four, I said, "I love you to the moon." My child, in a squeaky, little voice, replied, "I love you to the Democratic Republic of The Congo. That's very far!" Then she told me she loved me to the Crab Nebula. :) To this day, that's what we tell each other at bedtime, and she's 17. In terms of the love the owner has for children, I never saw anything to suggest that she or the other staff would single kids out based on ethnicity or nationality. The school does not "use" minority or immigrant children to teach American-born white kids about their culture. These kids are ages three to six. They are just learning to use the potty and eat lunch together. One of my daughters had a first best buddy who spoke no English when she started at Montessori Central. They played together and communicated through that play and through their laughter. Her mom and I became friendly and visited each other's homes while the girls played. We recently ran into that girl at a high school chess tournament; it was so sweet to see how both girls have grown. I will always be glad my kids attended Montessori Central. It is a fine place to give children a rich, warm, welcoming first experience at school. I would hope most people would take a one-star review based on quick judgement with a grain of salt. It was disheartening to stumble upon today while searching for something on Yelp, so I wanted to balance it with input from someone who actually experienced the school for more than 30 minutes.

We didn't end up choosing this place for our…read morechild, but we did a tour, etc. so I thought I'd review that process and get the info about the school more easily accessible. Also, I wanted to make it public that the person we interviewed with implied that she was happy to be serving more wealthy, white children, instead of the poor, brown children which she used to work with in her past. That was a major turn-off in our book. Granted this preschool is located in a more wealthy area of Spokane, and maybe she was trying to sell us on that, like "Oh, hey, it is fancy here" but it was just really off-putting. But, I hesitated to put it in the review, because maybe it was just an offhand misunderstood comment. I think we all say things sometimes that are misunderstood, but then I checked out their website.... and they have this nonsense... "We like to have children of minority races enrolled so that the children can learn about all people and how to exist together happily." So that, to me, was implying that "the children" are white kids, and it is just SO condescending. And that also implies that the "minority race" kids will be singled out to be teaching the other kids about their race. Just kind of weird to me. Anyways, save your time parents, and if you care about enrolling in a truly inclusive preschool I think not. Also this place was majorly expensive! Sept-June half day program was $4200, all day program $7600.

The math teacher my daughter had returned some of her graded assignments without uploading the…read moregrades. She then proceeded to assign my daughter some makeup assignments for her mistake. I sent the principal a very heated email inquiring as to why my daughter was having to stay up late doing these makeup assignments. The principal, Annie Marshall, sent me an email gaslighting me and my daughter accusing my daughter of not doing the work but ultimately admitted that she had no idea what happened. She pulled my daughter out of class and brought her into the office, and instead of asking her what happened or apologizing to her for what happened, told my daughter that it was her fault and she probably didn't do the assignments and that the teacher probably didn't lose the assignments. I attempted to contact the chairman of the school board, Dustin Seacrest, but the number they give only goes to the school. Found him on Facebook and sent a message with no reply. My daughter also played volleyball here and they kept her on the bench. I emailed the school asking about why she wasn't getting any playing time and the effect that was having on her confidence and self-worth. I received an email from a generic school email address that gave no reason for it. I sent a follow-up email asking for an actual reason and how their actions weren't very Christian like. If anybody would like proof of any of this I have all emails. I can't tell you where to send your kids, but based on my experience as well as my daughter's experiences, I cannot recommend this school at this time.
