We've been here several times and have always had a great experience. The hibatchi dinners are excellent and good portion sizes. Servers are always really friendly. Tried this Sushi Restaurant in McCalla tonight for something new. Sushi was outstanding, our table ordered 4 sushi rolls and some fried rice to share. It all was awesome! Our favorite was the New Orleans Roll. We also had the Flame of fire Roll which was flambé table side. Never had had sushi that way before. It was fun. I was surprised how few people were here on a Saturday night. Food and service was excellent. This is definitely a hidden gem. We will be back! read more

Came on the second night of the location being open. Wasn't sure what to think with sushi and hibachi in McCalla but we were pleasantly surprised! Ginger salad and miso soup were nothing different but exactly on par with what you would get at Stix or another similar restaurant. The hibachi dinner with chicken was excellent though. Very well done and very inexpensive. Not really enough to share without something else to go with it but very affordable for the food and it tasted great! We also got sushi and that was the only thing that wasn't amazing. Spicy crawfish was solid but the California and Tampa rolls were only ok. Not rolled super tight and kind of fell apart plus they were backed up and it took awhile to get the rolls. Finally, the service was great. Everyone was very friendly. Definitely a solid for McCalla and we'll be back! read more

I love this place! My favorite items are the Flying Crawfish roll and the Coconut Soup.

I left a 1 star only because I didn't get the option to not leave a star! THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE!!! The sushi was rubbery and extremely fishy like bad fish fishy!!! $40 for 4 sushi rolls that tasted worse than buffet sushi or Publix prepackaged sushi is redicilous. My husband has also eaten here before and said the hibachi was very small proportions and not that good. We will never spend another dime at this place. It was awful..... Drive another 10 minutes to Hoover and have some really good sushi!!!!!! read more

Loved this place when they first opened, bureau lot and service went downhill quickly. The soup appetizer is too fishy and the ginger salad too thick with mayo. We haven't been back in a while, so it's possible there have been improvements. read more

Went for a very fulfilling and value-priced lunch. Salad was fairly sized with good dressing. The soup was decent as well. The chicken hibachi lunch portion was just right along with the rice. We are so happy that this is right down the road from us. We go for either dine-in or take out at least once a month. Although a Japanese name, they have a much wider menu with a focus on south east Asia. My husband loves the goat curry (Gulai Kambing) and beef fried rice, and they will make it extra spicy for him when he asks. I love the thai style coconut soup (Tom Kha Gha). It's so creamy and satisfying for body and soul. I also like their bento maki option to mix and match a few rolls from their sushi menu. And if I am craving noodles instead, the Mie Goreng hits the spot. Definitely give this place a try if you're craving pan asian dishes! read more

Cannot go wrong with hibachi lunch specials and sushi! I had the special that comes with soup, salad, rice, vegetables, and my choice of meat: chicken. The salad is great; I am a huge fan of ginger dressing. The soup was average; Just clear soup with a couple of mushrooms. The vegetables and rice were SO good. The vegetables almost tasted like meat, so the sauce they use must be amazing. The rice was different than typically fried rice and I loved it. Chicken was your standard teriyaki chicken but was great nonetheless. The sushi: Great. I did not have high expectations of the sushi but it was incredible - Nothing plain about it whatsoever. The only reason I am giving four stars is due to slow service. While they were quite busy, I was expecting a little bit more attentiveness. However, it by no means ruined the experience. Every time I eat there it is wonderful!! The soup is awesome especially if you need to clear your sinuses. The food was good and the sushi was even better.
