Talin has been a staple for Asian groceries in Albuquerque for quite some time now. I like to for specific filipino style noodles for pancit or korean brand ramen noodles. You can always count on big selection and they are typically well stocked. Sometimes I like to walk down some of the other aisles (they are organized by county/region) just to see what their foods look like. Another favorite of mine here is browsing the produce section because it is the only place I come to for Chinese eggplant. The housewares (plates/pots/pans etc.) always have nice selection of cool things. Perfect for gifting or just picking up something new for your own kitchen. My only gripe with them is they close at 6 pm. Sometimes it's a little hard to get to after work. read more

One of my favorite international stores now has a figurine vending machine! It is so cute and perfect for those interested in pop mart Labubus! And on top of that, you can get Buldak noodles for a reasonable price. Staffing has really been increased lately too which is super helpful. read more

Ordered something three weeks ago. Never got a shipping notification. Tried emailing them two weeks later. No response. Tried calling three weeks later during business, got an automated message saying the mailbox was full. Kept calling and calling and finally someone picked up. She gathered my name and date of order put me on hold came back and said it's out of stock they'll be giving me a refund. I said that's it? No apology, I've been trying for three weeks to get in touch with someone. I told her I need the manager to talk to me and she said "we're really busy right now." Which is just another way of saying "we're not making time for you to deal with this right now." I told her I wasn't getting off the phone until I got my refund email, she put me on hold and the manager got on and said "how can I help you?" I told her this is an unacceptable way to treat a customer and that from my perspective it was almost as if this business didn't exist because my order never shipped, my email never was responded to, and the phone lines repeatedly hit a dead end. I told her I can't rely on her giving me a refund, I was going to wait on the phone for her to process it. She responded with, "it's Saturday, we'll do it on Monday". I said well that's not good enough for me and she told me that she wasn't going to "yelled at". Unbelievable. This lady can not see the difference between frustration and actually yelling than obviously she has no right being a manager. She is incapable of troubleshooting or reassuring a customer who is rightfully frustrated (not yelling). Since she refuses to refund me now I told her I would just do a chargeback because I'm done trying to get this resolved in a reasonable way. They obviously don't care so why give them any grace. read more

Going here is always a culinary experience! So many foreign foods that I have zero idea how to prepare. It is like a giant mystery! They have live crabs too. I got my Japanese candies and sodas that I came for and a bunch of different Ramen noodles for the kids. Picked up some new chopsticks too. Every time I've gone here, I have found something truly delightful to try. They also have less expensive specialized ingredients than you can find in most of the "ethnic" food aisles at other grocery stores. Like even seemingly basic ingredients for many recipes are more available here, like miso paste, ginger, bok choy, spices, and a huge variety of rice. I like the rolling carts and the large variety. It feels like walking through a lot of different countries' grocery aisles. The service is okay and then ambience is pretty good- it's more functional than anything, but I would rather have less emphasis on aesthetics and more effort on stock, order, quality, and ease of finding things. I was exited at the prospect of trying a "world market" for the first time; the idea seemed so intriguing. My first Impression was that the store had a huge parking lot with plenty of space to park without circling around; which is a major perk. The market itself looked pretty big, it was about the size of a Whole Foods i would say. There were a sufficient amount of employees there, so even though they had plenty of customers, the lines weren't long. It really started to give off an international ambiance when you first walk in, but as you keep going you realize it's not really, truly International. They focus mainly on the Asian culture mostly. 90% of the market is from some part of Asia, such as China, Philippines, Korea, and India (southeast Asia is Indian). I would say that they should re-brand it as an Asian supermarket, because it is a little misleading but still very cool. I've never seen a supermarket with every variety of Asian food. read more

It's cute that the aisles are named after different regions, helpful for finding specific items. A great Asian, actually WORLD food market. An aisle per country takes you to exactly where you want to be. There's even an aisle for New Orleans, considered a country there. My recent visit was disappointing. I noticed that shelves were empty and the store overall was disheveled making it not look as clean in my opinion as I recall from prior visits. This is my usual go-to for Asian and other specialty/imported foods and ingredients. I'm always surprised by the variety of cuisines, brands, and even produce they carry. And every time I go, I discover something new. Most things are well stocked, but sometimes something will be out of stock for a while, or be rotated out. But either way, it's kinda fun to just walk up and down the aisles and see all the different things they have to offer. Pricing can seem expensive, but I find it pretty comparable to other local and even online sellers. Since most things are imported, I do expect to pay a bit extra than if I were to go to Walmart. I also appreciate the little wheelie baskets they have for shopping. It's much easier wheeling this little basket around than a big cart or heavy hand basket. They are pretty strict about their bag check policy. They always ask me to check my reusable bags even though they are obviously empty. Lastly, I just gotta say be careful in the parking lot. It's kinda sketchy, and there's always someone speeding down the rows. read more

It's a good place to get Asian groceries in albuquerque. It doesn't compare to Asian stores, say in CA. The products are marked up quite a bit. They have aisles based on country. For the Indian section, you're better off going to Bombay Spice around the block. They have a pop up dumpling store which I haven't been to, but have heard good things about. read more

Back in town last week so I thought we'd stock up on some things we needed. This is a great value marketplace with a lot of interesting food. We got lychees, 15 different types of chicken and shrimp ramen, gochujang for our breakfast rice and egg fry-ups, seaweed with sesame snacks, boba tea pearls, botan rice candy of course, Bonita, some jelly candies. I am always inspired to cook when we come here, I love this place ! We went through every single aisle, and i'm sure we still missed some things but there's only so much room in the trunk. The women who did our checkout was so fast, and still had time to be friendly! Great experience, $82 for 3 bags of groceries. ABQ, or New Mexico as a whole, has amazing food typically covered in chiles but Asian food can be hard to find and especially Asian groceries. When trying to find ingredients to make galbijjim (I know it was a long shot in ABQ), I stopped by a few different stores and Talin was the only one that had most of the ingredients I needed. Not only did they have what I was looking for, but I was impressed with their wide variety of different Asian country's selections. I had to also get myself some ube macapuno ice cream! I felt that the prices were very reasonable too. The one disappointing aspect of Talin is their meat and seafood selection. At least when I was there, the meat and seafood department was oddly dark with a slim selection that seemed to have been sitting out for a while with little to no attention. read more

Tried Talin again and was again disappointed to find I was being sold 3 month expired food products. When I brought this to the attention of the manager attention she asked if "it was on sale". When I replied no, and there are ordinances against selling expired food as fresh she said, "No there isn't any regulation with that." I returned to the refrigerated section I procured the item from and found ALL stocking of the item I had purchased were equally expired and were also being sold as fresh. If you choose to shop here, please, please, CLOSELY scrutinize all product labels at least 3x and be sure to save your receipt because no matter how much money you spend or how often you shop Talin, they have no problem selling expired food and calling it your problem. This used to be such a great place, but now it's not. I love Burque and live in the International District. Really wanted to support Talin but with all their price hikes and continued poor customer service there are several other markets that meet my needs and are grateful for my patronage. read more

There is always such a great assortment of snacks, drinks and food when I come to Talin. Although sometimes it is hard to find the same product every time you visit, as they change up their inventory when it comes to snacks, drinks, foods, etc. This could be a good or a bad thing, personally I think it is a good thing as it gives the customer the ability to try new things. One thing about Talin is that sometimes on the product shelves the price tags are missing so it can be hard to tell how much something will cost. Another thing is, sometimes there can be boxes in the aisles that contain product that have not yet been stocked. It definitely makes the aisles more crowded. Despite this, I definitely recommend checking out Talin and purchasing a few things! If it's your first trip I recommend taking enough time to browse each aisle they have so you can see what they have to offer. This is my favorite "go to" shop in ABQ. So many good smells, amazing food and the ambiance is more like a market than a grocery store. Bullied and harassed by the general manger Carly (white female). She used security to intimidate me over an attempted return. I love this store and never been treated like this here or at any place of business. It felt like third world treatment. What the heck is going on at Talin?!? I usually buy the sesame balls which are usually pretty decent but today they were very thick and super hard to chew. I figured it's not a big deal to want to return the item but that was not the case. Carly didn't care for my opinion of the item and was extraordinarily rude and confrontational. I asked for her name and she said she didn't have to provide it. I asked how can i address this issue if you don't provide me your name. I asked for the other manger whom I'm familiar with and at times have friendly little chats with. She told me he wouldn't come to the front and that her word is the final word. It's kinda crazy bc it's just a small item at a cost of nearly $4 dollars but yet if the items are poorly made customers should have a right to a return the item. After I asked for the other manager she signaled to security to get ride of me. Crazy!!! Carly is certainly abusing her power and I feel she is purposely sabotaging this chain as she seems to not like the place she works. Maybe she doesn't like Asians? They are well known for their international products and for good reason. Here the aisles are designated not by product but by country. How cool is that?! A unique shopping experience for sure. The first thing encountered was an area with a selection of packaged teas, and behind in the corner a pop up dumpling stand. Hmmm. Then I walked the store and was actually hoping to find more than Asian aisles, but that did not occur. I was hoping for a Polish aisle to be honest - none there. After a rather disappointing trip to 999 market, I came to Talin to see if I'd have better luck. I had fun browsing through all their aisles, which are named and organized for different global cities. A very unique concept but it does make it a little harder to track down certain items. For example, dried shiitakes can be found in both the Korean and Chinese aisles so this can make price comparisons a little harder. Overall though, I'm a fan! I loved that they had everything I was looking for. They had a good selection of conventional items (bonito miso paste, frozen dumplings and buns, dried goods, kimchi) and lots of fun variety items too. Was happily surprised they had buldak ramen, aka Korean spicy chicken ramen! They also sell Asian fruits & veggies, and it was all fresh and clean.
