Going here is always a culinary experience! So many foreign foods that I have zero idea how to prepare. It is like a giant mystery! They have live crabs too. I got my Japanese candies and sodas that I came for and a bunch of different Ramen noodles for the kids. Picked up some new chopsticks too. It is in not a very desirable area with lots of homeless and beggars. Beware.

I was exited at the prospect of trying a "world market" for the first time; the idea seemed so intriguing. My first Impression was that the store had a huge parking lot with plenty of space to park without circling around; which is a major perk. The market itself looked pretty big, it was about the size of a Whole Foods i would say. There were a sufficient amount of employees there, so even though they had plenty of customers, the lines weren't long. It really started to give off an international ambiance when you first walk in, but as you keep going you realize it's not really, truly International. They focus mainly on the Asian culture mostly. 90% of the market is from some part of Asia, such as China, Philippines, Korea, and India (southeast Asia is Indian). I would say that they should re-brand it as an Asian supermarket, because it is a little misleading but still very cool. I've never seen a supermarket with every variety of Asian food.

A great Asian, actually WORLD food market. An aisle per country takes you to exactly where you want to be. There's even an aisle for New Orleans, considered a country there. My recent visit was disappointing. I noticed that shelves were empty and the store overall was disheveled making it not look as clean in my opinion as I recall from prior visits. I know that low supplies are affecting everyone. Hopefully that won't last much longer.

This is my usual go-to for Asian and other specialty/imported foods and ingredients. I'm always surprised by the variety of cuisines, brands, and even produce they carry. And every time I go, I discover something new. Most things are well stocked, but sometimes something will be out of stock for a while, or be rotated out. But either way, it's kinda fun to just walk up and down the aisles and see all the different things they have to offer. Pricing can seem expensive, but I find it pretty comparable to other local and even online sellers. Since most things are imported, I do expect to pay a bit extra than if I were to go to Walmart. I also appreciate the little wheelie baskets they have for shopping. It's much easier wheeling this little basket around than a big cart or heavy hand basket. They are pretty strict about their bag check policy. They always ask me to check my reusable bags even though they are obviously empty. Lastly, I just gotta say be careful in the parking lot. It's kinda sketchy, and there's always someone speeding down the rows.

Everything we tried was full of flavor, seasoned nicely, and tasted very fresh. The portions are huge and very generous, and the prices are quite reasonable for the amount of food you get. The chicken shawarma platter is my go-to, and the delicious pistachio baklava is a must-try for dessert. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. It has a warm, casual vibe that makes you feel welcome whether you're dining in or just stopping by for a quick bite. One of the best parts of this place is the attached grocery store, which carries a wide selection of Middle Eastern products, spices, and desserts. It's really convenient to be able to grab ingredients or treats after eating. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. The only downside is that seating can sometimes be a challenge, especially during busy times. However, the food, welcoming ambiance, and overall experience more than make up for it. I really enjoyed my meal here and will definitely be coming back again.

After waiting quite a while, I hung up and called back. This time, they took my order quickly and efficiently. I hadn't been here since they were in their previous location across the street, and I was really impressed with the new dining area. It was clean, well-decorated, and had a lot of open space. The front counter staff seemed a bit awkward or shy, I couldn't quite tell, but it was fine. They let me know my order would be ready in about 10 minutes. In reality, I waited closer to 20 mins todal, but it was absolutely worth it. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter, and it did not disappoint. It came with a delicious side salad made with fresh produce, a light dressing, and generous chunks of feta cheese. The platter also included some of the best hummus I've ever had, along with pita bread for dipping, though I honestly could have used a little more bread. The main dish featured tender, well-seasoned chicken served over rice with a creamy cucumber sauce that I could not get enough of. Seriously, this stuff was dangerously addictive. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'm bringing the whole family!

The store itself has seen better days, and so has the neighborhood. I encountered some men telling at each other as I exited the store in broad daylight. I don't recall how long ago I started buying from them, but it's been over a decade. Since we started buying from them, they have have become our sole provider of chile, chile pequin, chipotle, chicos and pecans for our family. We get pinto beans (frijoles), flowers and produce from them as they harvested. This year we've been treated to amazing lemon cucumbers. If you're not familiar with them, you are missing out. So good! Their address and number is lovingly placed on your product so you can let them know if you'll be wanting larger quantities of something or buying gifts outside the days/months of farmers markets. To me it's also a personal assurance of someone standing behind their product. I love knowing I'm supporting a loving, hardworking couple that cares about their product because they care about their customers. If you get the chance to know them, you'll find just how special they are. I think it's fun knowing how the crops are doing, how the rain (or lack thereof) is affecting the grow. For instance, they normally grow in Corrales but this year, 2013, the lack of rain forced them to move the crops to Espanol, where she is from. Knowing they live in the East Mountains, do chile grinding and chico preparation in Socorro and make weekly trips to Roswell for some chile products tells me they put in quite a commute for my food. In short, they are excellent farmers and great people with superb products. I highly recommend them.
