I've been too spoiled by the bay area where fresh Asian vegetables are plenty. I felt a little sad looking at wilted, older vegetables with flies buzzing around them. The prices are higher, the dry goods are not as varied as other markets such as 99 ranch, SF market, etc. Watch your food closely as I encountered expired product on the shelves. I didn't buy meat, but there is a large butcher counter in the back. I peeked in on the little cooked food area on the side and saw a roast duck ready to go. The store itself has seen better days, and so has the neighborhood. I encountered some men telling at each other as I exited the store in broad daylight. I'm unsure if I'd come back unless I truly needed something that couldn't be purchased off the internet. I hope that their produce was just having a bad day. read more

Called both numbers, the one from the website and yelp several times on Saturday to ask a simple question before making the trek all the way from Corrales. I let it ring and ring and each time it finally picked up and stated "the wireless costumer is not available please try again later" Like how many times later?? Not in a great part of town to begin with, when I visited this market a year ago I found it charming and clean. Not so much the case now. It is very rundown and filthy. We shopped there specifically for a duck for our thanksgiving dinner which turned out to be completely inedible. After roasting it to the proper temp it was tough as shoe leather and tasted rotten. This was surprisingly a mixed experience. Very thing initially seemed like it was great until I brought my groceries and within 2-3 days all of it was going bad and smelling rotten. I would not recommend buying your fresh fruits or veggies there. Prices are for the most part reasonable. They also have fried duck that can be bought as half or whole. I called and they don't sell fish fillets they sell whole fish so I guess if somebody wants to work that hard to bake a fish or if you want to do fish fillets for dinner you have to fillet them yourself that was a turn off for me and and I didn't go purchase anything from them Just that it's not convenient I'm from New York and every modern city in the world will sell the whole fish and for slightly more will sell for late fish That's just a matter profit I don't see what the problem here is You can make more money in the process read more

By far, my favorite place to shop in ABQ. I drive 131 miles to shop here. The vegan frozen section grows every time I go. The produce is exceptional and they carry king oyster mushrooms perfect for vegan pulled pork recipes. They carry a wide selection of plant-based spicy "meat" snacks and the BEST GUMMIES on the planet. There are tons of specialty kitchen equipment and a huge variety of all the unique ingredients needed to cook Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Korean dishes that you cannot find anywhere else. They are the super grocery store for everything Asian! Ever been to the one in Vegas? Huge! This is just like it - similar in name too, which makes one wonder if they are somehow affiliated. Regardless, they have pretty much everything you need from pretty much every different Asian ethnicity. Huge fresh fish selection, dried noodle goods from around the globe, and everything in between. Forget Talin Market, this place has them beat! Well, Talin is a bit fancier you might say, but this place beats their inventory hands down. In addition, they have a little deli/restaurant in the back. No name, just the deli/restaurant area, cash only, but decent grub at a decent price. Head-on roasted duck ready to go? Yup! As much as I love and want to support local Asian businesses, my experience here just wasn't that great. Pros: They have a large selection of East Asian goods, everything from snacks, seaweed, sauces, noodles, rice, fresh meat, fresh produce and an assortment of frozen products. Cons: The store didn't feel clean. I don't know how the store is usually run but during my visit today, no one wiped down the carts between customers and some employees did not wear their masks properly. For context, I am someone who has shopped in Asian markets on the West Coast all my life. 99 Ranch, H-mart, TS Emporium, local Chinese grocery stores in San Francisco, if you can name it, I've probably been before. As recently as June, I shopped at a local 99 Ranch in SoCal, so I know that other Asian grocery stores are taking Covid seriously in their cleaning and sanitation standards. With this in mind, sadly I won't be coming back, at least until Covid-19 is under control. In the meantime, I will try my luck at the smaller Korean grocery stores in ABQ. read more

I see that this Asian store is open today so I call and ask, "Hi, I'm calling to see if you have a specific coconut milk in stock, please? " Lady responds, "Yes, we do." Ever since they had new ownership, the quality of service went downhill, especially the cashiers. Every time I am in there, I am being scrutinized by this one specific cashier. She's also pretty rude based on my past interactions with her and her demeanor as well. It's as if she hates being there. I avoid her at all cost if another cashier/lane is available. all the other cashiers I have come into contact with are fine. It's unfortunate that all the cashiers under the previous ownership are no longer there. Additionally they charge $0.10 for plastic bags during the pandemic when they weren't supposed to charge. Selection of groceries and food items are great and I appreciate the new/modern look they are attempting to achieve. Sometimes, however, they would sell items that have been expired. read more

This is essentially a Ranch 99 out in the desert. As close to a Chinatown market as you'll get in ABQ. Featuring all the different noodle types, sauces, drinks, desserts, and fresh vegetables. Young coconuts, too, just like the bigger Chinatown markets. Selection of seafood in the back too, but admittedly I haven't looked at it since I hate seafood. Skip Talin Market and come here. Prices are a little on the high side and selection is not quite as good as Chinatown, but that can be forgiven because it's ABQ. read more

I would love to give this location 5 stars as they have a huge variety selection of items and prices are reasonable as this is our default store. Lately, the fresh vegetables have slowly diminished. Every time we need new ingredients for a recipe, we look for them in the supermarket and can't find it. I agree with the other reviews that when you ask an employee for some help, it's useless. I asked a stocker where I could find a certain item, showed him a photo of the product on my phone, and he said I needed to go to the front customer service. Really? It shows the brand name and what the item looks like and you're a stocker, you should know what you're placing on the shelves. As always, we walked up and down each aisle several times to only give up. So yes, you have to defend for yourself when looking for a particular item as floor service is almost non-existence. read more

The best Asian grocery store that I've found in ABQ so far. It's not as large as Talin, but has more reasonable prices. Shopping here gave me that feel I used to get shopping in Chinatown in Chicago--except that 999 DOES take credit cards :) thank you, 999. There's a pretty decent selection of fresh produce and from what I've seen is actually quite fresh. I was also amazed at how much vegan and vegetarian food they had! So far I've had a wonderful week of eating homemade Asian food from here and all has been delicious. They've got a new local customer! read more

I can say with authority that this is the best Asian grocery in the region. It rivals such mainstays as the Ranch 99 chain in California, where I lived for 25 years. I say "with authority" because I spent five years in Asia and know how to cook several East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisines. The selection of packaged, canned and frozen goods is truly jaw dropping -- there's a long aisle dedicated just to dry noodles from every country. The fish is fresh, clean and the selection is good. They even have live dungeness crab for a decent price and live lobster (a bit expensive, but where else can you get live lobster in the desert?). The produce section could be better and more comprehensive but I did find what I needed, including fresh lemongrass and galanga. They have a small restaurant/deli attached. It was a little disappointing (though it could have been the time of day). The pho maker wasn't on duty and nobody knew when he was coming back. The food in the steam table was mediocre. They also sell whole and half roast duck in the deli. If I was the owner I'd spruce the place up a little and get some new carts, but otherwise I was very impressed. read more

We have been spoiled with 99 ranch in the bay area. On our road trip we stop by 999, expecting to have the same experience as 99. We were excited to find some fresh Asian fruits at 999 through yelp pictures. But it was a big dissapointments. Limited selection and a few were rotten.The store also smell awful! I regularly go to this grocery -about once or twice a month. First thing you notice as soon as you enter is the smell; it smells like..a market. You can smell different types of herbs, produce, meat and seafood all fused together. It can be offputting for some, but not to me! It has the real asian market feel. Of course this is milder version as compared to the actual markets in asian countries I've been to. Also, you'll notice lots of Asians with different nationalities shop here. They talk in different languages. Their produce section offers the freshest unique fruits and vegetables. I can say the same for their meat. They have the pork belly cut! And other miscellaneous parts of various animals such as feet, innards, ears, pork snout and even blood! I buy fresh seafood from them and ask them to clean it for me. Recently, like for the past 3 months, I've noticed changes like its cleaner and more organized than it used to be. It used to have lots of expired goods still stocked on the shelves and not so fresh frozen goods. I don't know, maybe they changed management? Or something. They even changed their name recently from 99 Bahn, now to 999 Seafood Supermarket. As compared to the other asian grocery, some prices here are lower than the other store, and vice versa. But this is my prefered, go-to asian grocery in town for fresher produce and that asian market vibe. I even spotted Asian Buddhist monks shopping here last time I was here! read more

If this place were bustling and stocked it would be the same as any of a number of such markets in Oakland CA or Philadelphia PA that I have been to. Unfortunately, by every appearance, this place is going out of business. Empty of customers, empty shelves, fish and meat departments that were...well, sketchy at best and downright terrifying at worst. Seriously, I can't quite figure what other people have been visiting but this place was a rundown ghost town of an Asian supermarket. Did I mention that it looked half the shelves were empty and weren't being restocked? I would love to be mistaken because it's pretty close to where I live and it would be nice to not have to pay the ridiculous prices being asked at Talin. They have all the chinese spices, etc. And they have a hot food pre-made section takes cash--or you can pay after ordering at the cashiers up front of the store. I had planned a crawfish boil for my son's graduation this weekend. I ordered the crawfish directly from Louisiana. They showed up earlier than expected and upon arrival many of them were already dead. I panicked. I called a few places in hopes they would have some live crawfish - we live in the desert so I wasn't very hopeful. I work in the international district across the street from 999 seafood market. I've never been in. My fiancé and I drove there yesterday morning. While they didn't have any crawfish at the time, they were willing to try to order some to have them available for this morning. The owner was amazing. He was helpful and kind and willing to bend over backwards to help us. Additionally, i've never seen so much fresh seafood in New Mexico in my life. Be aware. The people in this store are so rude. Many of the products are not price marked. I asked the woman at customer service and her answer was simply "I don't know". Well who knows? I again asked a gentleman who works there and got the same answer as he walked away. If there is a language problem, maybe the ones who can't speak English shouldn't work directly with customers.
