Our room had two comfortable queen beds, a mini fridge, coffee maker, chair, and one of the best AC units we've experienced in a motel/hotel in a long time. Everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a full day of exploring. The real star, though, is the pool. Actually, pools. They have two, and the one closest to our room was a huge hit with the kids. Add in the outdoor rocking chairs and fire pit area, and you have a place that makes it easy for families to unwind. Check-in was fast, parking was effortless, and the rate was very reasonable for this time of year. Townsend River Breeze Inn isn't trying to be a luxury resort. It's focused on doing the fundamentals exceptionally well: a clean, cozy, affordable place to sleep, swim, and enjoy your vacation. That's a formula that works. We'd happily stay here again.

Again, we did not hear back. We also emailed, left a message on booking.com, and called again within a month after our stay, but still no response. It was my friend's first trip to the U.S. Sadly it was this hotel's irresponsibility, ignorance, and the terrible sanitary conditions that constituted his first impression. Very disappointed.

AND you can no way see yourself in the bathroom mirror...the ceiling is vaulted but sooo low. The sloping floor in the bathroom was concerning as well. A broom stood proudly in her corner of the room. Gas fireplace...while it did work was NOISY. Wires and cords run amuck inside and out. Limited kitchen was ok. Pull down blinds would have been fine had they not been giant murals of Clingman's Dome and other Smokies sights. The wood slatting of the cabin is nice but please get someone in there to redo this room...good grief!! The hand drawn exit map was ...smh! Covered Porch out back was the highlight and the running stream was beautiful. The roosters crowing at 5:30 am wasn't a great addition. As you turn into the property there is a house that someone is obviously living in that looks like a junk yard...I'm being kind. Maybe it's the owner?!?! A bulldozer would improve this place. If you like extremely junky and rustic...this is your place. It is not an easy walk into downtown Gatlinburg either...and all uphill on your way back. I knew nothing of the area but the bare minimum. Upon arriving here, it appears to be a bit sketch. But no need to fret on that part, just know that there is multiple layers of renovations going on for this lot and two adjacent lots. If you go back through Google Maps you can see that this wasn't always the hotel it now is. I'm not sure if this parcel was part of the tower hotel in front that is now a Days Inn, part of the parcel behind it that has been torn down, or a combination of them all. By the maps, they only go back to about 2014, it looks as if this may have been a long term residence type of place, as in apartments. With those maps you can tell the massive amounts of renovations they have made to this parcel. It looks like they gutted the building and started with an empty slate, I'm just guessing here. This calls back to the time when motels were king and direct access to the outside from your room was the norm. For me, however, I felt a bit uneasy with this, more on that later. Checking in was a bit of a task. When I showed up and walked into the lobby area there was no one around and a sign was on the desk saying that they will be back in a few minutes. I took that as a chance to stretch my legs and take in the outside. You can tell that the building was freshly remodeled with bright paint, newer looking doors for each unit, new windows, and a few other things. However, the one thing that feels neglected here is the parking lot. They spent all this time and money on redoing the building, but the parking lot just felt like an afterthought. Finally able to check in, I got my key to my room and went to move my vehicle so that it would be right outside my door. What was odd here was that there weren't so many people checked in, but of those of us that were, we were all clustered in one area, all towards the back of the property. I will say, that with the rooms opening up to the outside it is convenient for easy in and out, but it just doesn't feel safe. Even though there has been a refresh here, I feel like some more time could have been taken with the doors. Once I was in the room and settled, I noticed that there wasn't a tight seal around the door. I could actually see daylight coming in under the door and towards the top. I'm sure when winter rolls around, that won't make it very comfortable in the room. The room felt cavernous. Bigger than I expected floorplan that allowed for two queen beds, dresser and desk. Then there was the offshoot that served as a kitchen type area. I didn't notice anything in here, it was a bare kitchen, but you had your fridge in this area, as well as a microwave and sink. There is a cooktop, but nothing to cook with. I guess you have to bring that on your own. The bathroom was of a decent size as well. Shower was quite big, but there already looked like there was some water damage happening. I'm not sure how recent this place was remodeled, but that left something to be desired to see. AC worked nicely and kept the room cool in the middle of the hot days of summer. I'm sure this place will go through some growing pains in the coming months, but it's not a bad place to stay in the least. They do offer breakfast if that's your thing and it is really close to a lot of other eateries and sights in the area. Go cart track right across the street.

The bathroom had a vent with tons of rust, the paint was chipped all over the walls. Beat up and scuffed furniture. The patios were sad and depressing. The patio door was broken and did not lock. The view is "sad creek with creepy parking lot." The hotel also gives a complimentary margarita coupon to guests. We do not drink alcohol. When I went to the bar I asked the manager if we could trade it in for a non-alcoholic margarita or NA beer and they said no, only alcoholic margaritas. How ridiculous! Not even a freaking mocktail margarita! After staying at the Gatlinburg resort property this was a huge let down. We have since learned they are two different franchise owners. Suffice to say, we were going to stay two nights. We paid for two and after one night we left and booked a room at the Gatlinburg location instead. That's how bad it was.

Facilities are nice with a good sized gym and large rooftop pool and hot tub overlooking the Ferris wheel. The roof has plenty of lounge chairs and the chill bar with great staff that will bring your orders (food included) to your chair. The hotel is pet-friendly and has an indoor fireplace-house restaurant and bar (Fins) with an outdoor patio. It also has an onsite Starbucks. While pricey, the amenities, room size, great staff, and location made it worth it! We've already started talking about our next visit!
