Recovery program is good- I'd recommend. Staff I have met are supportive and friendly. Lots of parking and in a quiet neighborhood. Pastor Larry spoke for us once and my husband and I enjoyed it. We aren't members, but have met several and they love Tallowood. The facilities are well kept, though dated in the original building. Children's area is new and nice from what I have seen. Dr. Duane taught one of my college classes- He knows the Lord from what I can tell and teaches His word well. Check Tallowood out if you live in the area. read more

Well i am surprised there are not more reviews for Tallow Wood it Is a very big church not mega sized but very big they are also very engaged in the community as well as the international community helping them build their own community churches my kids are in the Choir also my daughter has been in the orchestra playing the Violin. KINGDOM BASKETBALL! This organization is masquerading under the guise as a Christian organization, but there is nothing Christian in their interactions. My brother was signed up for the upcoming season and due to health complications within our family we had to withdraw from the program (before the season started). The director of the program was informed and since then has been very crude, dry, and childish. First: I was told they were going to keep 25% of my refund, okay I guess I understand. Second: It has been over a month and I have still yet to receive my refund. The director is giving me the run around and everyone I speak with has been dry and rude. Instead of having understanding too my situation which was explained to them, they are treating me with little dignity, as if I have done something wrong. I did not expect this type of behavior from a Christian Organization, but after seeing the true faces of those who work here I can see there are no Christian values involved here, this is clearly all about the money for them. read more

We were here for a wedding and as guests I cannot address how the bride or groom were treated. The wedding was in the Chapel and it was nice. I must comment that I didn't' like how the minister had the bride and groom face him the entire service. As guests, we got to stare at their backs for about 20 minutes. We weren't able to see their faces. Rather impersonal. Also, he had them step up on some steps and the bride almost fell down them. Dangerous. Overall it was quick and served the purpose but I like more interaction with the guests. read more

Thank heavens for this church. We have family members that have been active here for decades. Dr. Brooks knows and loves the Lord and is the epitome of a servant/leader. We have not been able to join yet due to COVID but are excited to rejoin the Body of Christ soon. Blessings. read more

My sister had her wedding here. We had one of the most horrible experiences you can imagine. First of all, they were easily double or triple the price you would pay for another church, but that's ok. The staff (esp. Larry Bertrand) was very rude to the bride and the groom and threatened to cancel the wedding (on the morning of the wedding) because, unbeknownst to the bride/groom and many other people, some of the guests had taken the church's booster seats from the night before at the rehearsal dinner. Yes, that was tacky, and no, we didn't know those people that well... but to threaten to cancel the wedding? That was overkill, especially considering they had left a $400 deposit that would have definitely covered the missing booster seat. They could have simply charged for the booster seat after the fact. Calling the groom up on his wedding day and telling him he won't be able to walk down the isle until the missing booster seat is re-located... that was extremely mean. Next, there is a bridal suite where the girls can get ready the morning of the wedding. It is a separate room outside of the chapel/church area, and you can walk right into it from the outside. What I mean to say is, it is disconnected from the church, and it has it's own separate entry... you even have to go outside from the church in order to get to it. Some of the bridesmaids had brought some alcoholic beverages for a celebratory toast for the bride on her wedding day. We were not drunk, loud, or excessive in our celebration. Susan Grier (the coordinator) came into the bridal suite to look for some floral arrangements that were MIA at the last minute, and she found a bottle of champagne in the trash. She stormed out of the room, bottle in hand, and proceeded to raise her voice at the bride and bridal party MINUTES before the bride was to walk down the isle. What a way to fray someone's nerves! If that wasn't enough, she acted as if we had done something completely illegal and had a policeman escort us out of the bridal suite... AFTER she went around to several of the guests and the pastors and informed them that the bridal party had brought alcohol into the suite, in an effort to shame us. We were all of age... I was the youngest girl, and I'm 27. The bridesmaids were all very classy ladies... doctors, lawyers, ambassadors... all professional women with multiple degrees. I almost could not fathom how someone could be so tacky and have such a lack of respect for privacy. By the way, there was no posted sign about alcohol not being allowed in the bridal suite. The entire bridal party, several of the guests, and (most importantly) the bride and groom had their experience altered because of the complete lack of professionalism and tact displayed by the staff at Tallowood Baptist Church. There are bound to be hiccups in any wedding day, but they did not handle the situation with the class and Christ-like manner that I would have expected. After the wedding, I called the church to express my disappointment with the actions of the staff, and I was met with nothing but hostility and pride. Susan even had the nerve to hang up in my face because I asked to speak with her supervisor. Though $2,000 was paid for use of the facility (including the $400 deposit that they refused to return), they acted as if they were providing some charitable service by letting us use the church for the wedding, and they were not at all apologetic for ruining the experience. Both the bride and the groom are very strong Christians, and despite being 32/33 years of age, they were both virgins on their wedding day. This day meant a lot to them and was supposed to be a time of celebration of the beautiful union before family, friends, and God. Tallowood claimed to have a desire to minister to others, but myself (an atheist) was absolutely put off by these white-washed tombs. They will brag about the "million dollars in renovation" that was put into the bridal suite alone, but they do not realize that they have failed utterly and completely if they are not a good representation of what Christianity was about. I, for one, was very turned off and simply breathed a sigh of relieve that I was not associated with them or their religion. Since my review, they have complained to my sister over the phone about my review, written several reviews from fake profiles and even sent me nasty personal inbox messages. Classy AF. read more

Our wedding day at tallowood went flawlessly! The chapel is stunning and just made the ceremony! Everyone has been wonderful to work with! The staff is exceptional and always friendly! I had a few special requests and they had no problem getting anything done and accommodating! Seriously an absolute amazing wedding at Tallowood that I will remember forever! I'm sad to read some very bad reviews here, I 'ok tell you mine. The thing that matters the most is, that you should go yourself and attend and then choose. A Church is not a restaurant, a Church is a sacred place in which you go to hear the Gospel of Our Lord. Atheists are giving reviews of what they don't know and don't understand, they don't know what are talking about. Is like if you were going to a Steak House, if you are a Vegan that Never ate meet and/or don't eat it at all. You cannot review something, when you don't know anything about it. That's why you choose to be an atheist or a Christian or whatever you decide. I hope my review helps you all. First of all and most importantly than anything is that I AM A CHRISTIAN and LOVE THE LORD OVER ALL. I love the Gospel and that is the most important and basic thing to know when I attend to church The first time I attended to a service, it was in the evening and it was so awesome, and I wanted more. Then, when I was able to go every Sunday, I was attending the morning and evening service. Which all of them were always awesome. Moreover, I became a member and wanted to be part of it, but for me, It was a little difficult to attend more and to find clases, and I attended just on Sunday services. But then, after 1 year, I saw some changes that begun making me concern. The main Pastor, knows the Bible and preaches it beautifully, he really does, he has amazing messages that you can listen in the website, but, one of the things that it was difficult for me to understand, coming from non PC Pastors was being with a PC pastor. I understand we are in church and we need to be compassionate and meek, but, we have to call sin "sin" and I was able to good all good preachings, but I never heard what can happen to people that goes in the wrong direction, I never heard about people that don't follow the commands and it's consequences. "I AM A CHRISTIAN BUT I AM A SINNER" as Paul said I am probably the chief of sinners, but the only way I changed and I became a Christian, was because I heard the hard stuff, I heard the consequences of my sins, I learned that I had to repent myself and be transform and born again. I didn't hear that in more than a year that I attended there. Then I saw women preaching, which was a huge turn off, then I heard different examples of people, that should never be use as a good example in a service unless, they have been transformed by God and they repented and live their lives showing it. The church has many great things, such as an amazing Musical Director, Carlos has amazing talent to put all these amazing concerts together and his voice and when he plays music, he really made me have tears. He choose amazing voices for the solos, and the instruments and organization for these events don't envy any concert in NYC. I don't know who directs the contemporary music, and sometimes is repetitive not only the same music, but the songs are very repetitive. 1 song can have the same sentence repeated more than 10 times (that can be called mantra, I was into that before being save) They are so many beautiful songs to choose that I don't know why they use the same most of the time. The Church is also amazing gorgeous, the installations are beautiful, the acoustics everywhere are great, location is very convenient for many people, also the accommodations for service and for different groups of people are AMAZING. They have services like in 10 different languages. Members in general are very friendly, sadly they are a little cold, and very independent. That was very different feeling, coming from another town, with very warm people. I really love the Church and all Pastors, But as I said, the most important thing for me is the Gospel, and I need to hear the good things, yes that's awesome, but I need to hear the bad things that can happen to us if we don't learn and follow the Gospel. And sometimes we all need to hear those more often because those, keeps us being straight in our path, and strength our faith. Now, I've been attending other church and I think I'll continue going to this one. I'm hearing the good stuff but also the hard stuff and that was something extremely important for me. Now, I'm more engaged and I would start cooperating with the church and I'll be involve with them. I was missing that very much also. This is such a beautiful place and so much to offer, but many people are living, not attending much. I am wondering, if what I was missing, is also what many people nowadays miss, and that's why they abandon church partially or even worse, totally! I'll keep praying for them and I hope to visit them. For sure I would love to be in every music event they have, seriously, they are out of this world and you can see, how GOD Bless Us with music and with such good musicians (which btw, they are all members) Kudos for Carlos, really and again what an amazing Orchestra Director. I had my wedding here, it was beyond lovely and went well. The staff was professional and loving. I did not experience any rudeness, only generosity and acceptance. I think churches have rules to protect their property, also, I did respect the "no alcohol" policies. We had a terrific time, and we now worship there! read more

Over all sinful but faith-full people who are pursuing the Lord and loving his people.
