I almost never leave negative reviews, but my experience at Mather Salon on Sept 15 (9 a.m…read more appointment with Todd) was too awful to let go. I was running 10 minutes late due to traffic and called ahead. The receptionist was kind and said they would wait, but I can't help wondering if my poor experience was retaliation for being late. First, the haircut itself was bad (let my picture speaks for itself). I've had bad haircuts before, but this was probably one of the worst -- even worse than the one I once got at a $10 chain salon many years ago. I showed Todd a reference photo, but what I got looked nothing like it. My hair was uneven (clearly visible in the photos), and from the back it looks like a mop. He didn't ask me basic questions -- such as where I part my hair or how much length I wanted -- and when he was done, he didn't even show me the back with a mirror (which makes sense now, because it looks terrible). The service was just as bad as the haircut. While drying my hair, he used such a high heat setting that it burned my scalp -- and even five days later, my scalp still hurts. During the cut, he walked away for 5-6 minutes without saying anything, leaving me awkwardly facing the entrance gate with hair all over my face ( he did not even bother to rotate my chair back to face the mirror). The same thing happened at the shampoo station, where I was left staring at the ceiling, wondering if he would come back. For almost $100 (including tip), I expected a professional haircut and at least decent service with some communication. I regret ever going to Mather Salon. I am also attaching my credit card statement so you know it was my authentic experience.

I have like a big black hole and just did the front in the top and I told him I wanted a light toner and he gave me a yellow gray toner just saying I $330 plus tip go elsewhere. Then I ask him to cut my hair straight across and I wanted the front a little longer than the back and he end up using a curved scissors to cut my hair. Looks like frappe and then they cut the front short. I thought oh my God I've never gone back $330 plus tip is not worth it. Do not go to him. It's just the name his work is not that good

I visited this salon requesting an Aveda gray lowlight color treatment and a flattering cut. I left…read morewith a very crooked haircut, confirmed by the next stylist who cut my hair, and a color that turned brassy and orange within weeks. I had no way of knowing at the time despite the standard mirror check. I tipped 20% because I always tip and because I had no idea yet what had been done. When I called to address the color issue, the manager was immediately hostile. She later confirmed, without apparent awareness of what she was admitting, that the stylist, Christine, had applied Ash Brown Level 7, not the gray level 4 from the Aveda Demi+ line I'd requested and that Christine told me she would use. The manager even said she didn't know anything about color levels but confirmed that the gray Aveda line was sitting in plain site on their shelf. And Christine applied a completely different product than what I consented to. Had I known, I would have walked out, because I specifically told her not to put brown in my hair because it would turn brassy. I then contacted an Aveda school in Austin who confirmed the wrong products were used and offered to correct the damage themselves. I compiled documentation and research but the manager and the always unavailable owner of the salon refused to review any of it. The salon's offered remedy was to have the same stylist who had lied to me about the products she used, fix the damage she caused. I declined. No way. They considered this offer sufficient. I did not. I filed a dispute with American Express. Only then did the owner contact me, but to berate me. No accountability was taken despite Christine's own admission through the manager. Their refund policy was never disclosed at time of service either verbally or in writing, which they are required to do. They then used my 20% tip to twist things as evidence that I was satisfied. A word of advice: Do not tip your stylist until you are certain they did what they said they would do. I learned this the hard way. Make them show you the actual tubes of color they're mixing. Additionally, roughly two to three months ago the manager appeared in my Facebook feed. I had not contacted this business in well over a year. I found it deeply unsettling that she sought me out on social media long after the fact. Christine's name appears in multiple negative reviews for this business. There is a pattern here. Proceed with caution.

After a couple of years, I am still a fan of this salon! I have been traveling a lot for work…read morelately and it has been particularly hard to find the time to pamper myself and my hair. Luckily, I was able to just walk-in on a Friday afternoon. Lori was very friendly and attentive when she asked what I needed: a trim, undercut, wash, and hair tinsels. The last one was a bit of a challenging request but I still have no complaints. She made sure the undercut length worked for me, trying different combs and letting me check before she continued. The shampoo is of course the best part of the entire process. Super relaxing! I asked her to be careful since I had just gotten a tattoo behind my ear. She was cautious to not hurt me and I appreciated the extra care. She also offered an arm massage that was AMAZING! The cherry almond conditioner they use smells heavenly too. I have very long hair so drying it takes forever. She was very patient and I did not feel rushed. We couldn't figure out the hair tinsel situation but that's okay, I should've had more helpful instructions.

I went looking for a place in my new neighborhood for a stylist that can cut and style bobs and…read morecolor. As you can imagine, you can look up many places and ask for recommendations that take hours of time. After reading about Tulsa Style services, I called and Jenny asked me three questions about what I needed and told me Teresa was the best for foils and cutting Bob hairstyles. I originally reviewed this business due to the quick response, but have changed my review to reflect the bad experience I had with the coloring of my hair that changed my hair to a brassy orange color, with a dark color in stripes as a correction, when I requested foils on the crown of the head for grow out only. Perhaps a misunderstanding and thankfully not one that I needed to live with for too long, but the cost of this experience and the cost to have someone else correct and restore the damaged hair safely, has been an expensive lesson.

Lou Brewer, the colorist, helped me decide what color to get. I wanted a rose gold look and she said with a bleach and toner, we could come close. It all depended on how much of the box color would be lifted out. She was patient, sweet, and very funny. She was very thorough and made sure my hair was to my liking before she trimmed it. She straightened it and then curled it afterwards to make it look as much like the photo I had brought. Best of all, the whole appointment was covered by my Groupon! I would use her services again no questions asked. I recommend Tulsa Style and Lou Brewer to anyone!
