I moved to Tulsa over a year ago and have been searching for a new stylist spouse. I tried one about three times when I got here, but it just didn't work out. I chose Nicole based on her stylist description on the website. She's experienced and an artist in life more than just hair, so I felt she would be able to take control when I told her what I wanted. I'm open for a conversation to get to what's realistic based on upkeep, home styling, and my hair type. I rely on hair stylists expertise and many do not seem comfortable taking the reins on it, even though they should, IMO, since they are the professional. She delivered and then some. She is very knowledgeable. She explains things in a way that you can tell she just knows her stuff and she wants to make sure you understand where you two are going. She puts importance in giving you what you want, but also explaining how it will work based on how much time you want to spend on your hair and upkeep. Since this was our first meeting, I only did haircut (which is more important than color and requires an artful eye to shape, personality, etc), but we discussed color and she's on it. She knows her stuff and I feel super comfortable letting her work on me next time. I've had the privilege of having some really talented stylists coming from California. This salon has at least one talented lady here that I can speak of and they are very lucky to have her! read more

I visited this salon requesting an Aveda gray lowlight color treatment and a flattering cut. I left with a very crooked haircut, confirmed by the next stylist who cut my hair, and a color that turned brassy and orange within weeks. I had no way of knowing at the time despite the standard mirror check. I tipped 20% because I always tip and because I had no idea yet what had been done. When I called to address the color issue, the manager was immediately hostile. She later confirmed, without apparent awareness of what she was admitting, that the stylist, Christine, had applied Ash Brown Level 7, not the gray level 4 from the Aveda Demi+ line I'd requested and that Christine told me she would use. The manager even said she didn't know anything about color levels but confirmed that the gray Aveda line was sitting in plain site on their shelf. And Christine applied a completely different product than what I consented to. Had I known, I would have walked out, because I specifically told her not to put brown in my hair because it would turn brassy. I then contacted an Aveda school in Austin who confirmed the wrong products were used and offered to correct the damage themselves. I compiled documentation and research but the manager and the always unavailable owner of the salon refused to review any of it. The salon's offered remedy was to have the same stylist who had lied to me about the products she used, fix the damage she caused. I declined. No way. They considered this offer sufficient. I did not. I filed a dispute with American Express. Only then did the owner contact me, but to berate me. No accountability was taken despite Christine's own admission through the manager. Their refund policy was never disclosed at time of service either verbally or in writing, which they are required to do. They then used my 20% tip to twist things as evidence that I was satisfied. A word of advice: Do not tip your stylist until you are certain they did what they said they would do. I learned this the hard way. Make them show you the actual tubes of color they're mixing. Additionally, roughly two to three months ago the manager appeared in my Facebook feed. I had not contacted this business in well over a year. I found it deeply unsettling that she sought me out on social media long after the fact. Christine's name appears in multiple negative reviews for this business. There is a pattern here. After a couple of years, I am still a fan of this salon! I have been traveling a lot for work lately and it has been particularly hard to find the time to pamper myself and my hair. Luckily, I was able to just walk-in on a Friday afternoon. Lori was very friendly and attentive when she asked what I needed: a trim, undercut, wash, and hair tinsels. The last one was a bit of a challenging request but I still have no complaints. She made sure the undercut length worked for me, trying different combs and letting me check before she continued. The shampoo is of course the best part of the entire process. Super relaxing! I asked her to be careful since I had just gotten a tattoo behind my ear. She was cautious to not hurt me and I appreciated the extra care. She also offered an arm massage that was AMAZING! The cherry almond conditioner they use smells heavenly too. I have very long hair so drying it takes forever. She was very patient and I did not feel rushed. We couldn't figure out the hair tinsel situation but that's okay, I should've had more helpful instructions. read more

This place is amazing! They have all-natural Aveda products and excellent staff. I will not trust anyone with my hair except Hayden! The building is a little hard to find, park in the back, but once you find it it's so worth it! BEWARE.. this is not an Aveda Salon, my stylist Christina not only talked poorly of her other clients that get extensions BUT also told me how her and her boyfriend SMOKE AND GROW WEED, AND 2 different stylist did a pretty terrible job on my hair. First Christina put an extension up so high you could see it!!! Second visit she colored my hair a different color and then proceeded to tell me she liked that shade on me..WHAT WHO DOES THAT! Their solution was to switch me with an "Aveda" trained stylist who to come find out NEVER went to the Aveda School in Dallas but was "trained" by someone who did. YEAH OK MAKES SENSE. To beat it all I went to get my hair extensions that Christina kept from my first visit, not by my request, and half were gone! So let me get this straight.. you all messed up my $800 hair visit, lied, talked about drugs and other clients to me, lied over the phone, and stole my extra extensions and Alice's response, the customer service lady who calls instead of the owner Brian cause that's how much they really care about their clients, I can't control what my stylist do on their own time (SO IT'S OK FOR HER TO TALK ABOUT HER DRUG USE TO CLIENTS) and we aren't responsible for your missing hair even though the stylist told me she would just keep them with her in case I wanted to use them next time. SO TERRIBLE. Throughout this whole thing the owner who works there everyday Brian, never apologized or called me. His response was to relay a message to me saying that he didn't color Cool Tone Blondes very well so they would have me try someone else.. like what you own a salon but can't do Cool Tones...... In the end I drove 16 hours home to an ACTUAL Aveda Salon I have always gone to and had them fix this TERRIBLE job. If I could rate this salon negative 100 I would. read more

I really liked my hair and my stylist personality wise was OK on my first (and last) visit but I totally felt like I was bait & switched. I've been going to Aveda Salons for years in the DFW area, in the nice parts of town but still paid $60 more for a cut / highlights in Tulsa at Raw Elements. When I made my appointment I was quoted $120 and when I got into the chair my stylist told me that it would be $215. I paid about $125 for the same thing in Dallas at a Tangerine Salon with a master stylist :-| my stylist ended up doing it for $185 but the sticker shock kind of ruined it for me. So, if $$ isn't an issue for you and you don't need to know how much its going to be, go for it! But, it really left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm going to find another salon. read more

I have been a client of Nicole's at Raw Elements for over a year at this time, and I love everything about this salon-the people, the services, the products, the price, the ambience. Parking is in the back, where you will enter a stylish, industrial-look salon and will be greeted warmly and offered a beverage. Since I schedule my appointments regularly now, I am not sure about how available walk-in services are at this time, but when you come, be ready to meet a professional stylist who will listen to you and work with you to give you the look you will love! Let me just say, I love this place. I came into town to visit for a short visit and decided it was time to get my hair did. I went to school with Nicole when we were little and she's always loved hair. She did not disappoint. I let her do what she wanted with a cut and color. Way overpriced for a subpar job. Went in to get my hair lightened and cut. Mind you my hair was already fairly light when I went into the salon, I figured it wouldn't be too difficult to bring the blonde up my hair some more and tone it. Was quoted over 300 dollars by Christina, and was told if I needed a cheaper option she could just do part of my hair? It didn't really make any sense to me. I figured there wasn't anyone else available to do my hair at the moment which is why they sent ME the "senior stylist" so I decided to give her a chance. I left with my hair fried and barely looking anything like the picture I showed her. Sat around essentially all day while two, maybe three other people were tended to by her and I was left sitting with bleach for what seemed like ever. I could have went and got what she did done for a third of the price, seems like she takes and runs with the whole "I've been a stylist for 20 years so I charge what I want" thing to wring people out of their money. I've had a great experience here with other stylists before but because of this I will not be back. read more

I waited a little too long for a haircut and was thankful that Raw Elements stayed open reasonably late on a Saturday (until 7PM) and had an opening that same day I called. I was also looking for a new stylist in town and was lucky they paired me with Nicole, who did a great job on my cut. Nicole displayed great technique and gave me the layered cut I was looking for. Fantastic find! I moved to Tulsa two years ago and have had 5 different stylists highlight my hair. I was never happy with how they did it or if I was happy, it was $200 without tip! I was referred to this salon recently and I'm so glad I tried it. Kelly did an amazing job on my hair. It's exactly what I wanted and it was really well priced! They've lost their best stylists unfortunately. Christina, who I was rolled over to, was so patronizing that I didn't even end up staying past the consultation part. While the owner is very nice, along with the front desk secretary, the manager is non-accommodating. She didn't listen well nor did she propose a solution to my issue. read more

I got a confirmation about an appt. after stylist was gone. When I called and asked they said tif we had come in they would have offered another stylist. Poor business practice. Fortunately the stylist was able to reach us in advance and we could avoid the salon. I have heard they have had quite a bit of turnover so check before you go to appt.
