While planning my stay in Safety Harbor for a wedding I tried making an appointment for my hair but there was no hairdresser at the resort I was staying at. So I turned to Yelp to find the closest and best hair place. Which lead me to Tamar Dupre Salon. Made my appointment online which made everything easy peasy. As it got closer to my appointment day I received an email to confirm. The day of the appointment they call me as the streets out front are closed for a street festival. Truly appreciated the heads up as I am not from the area I managed to park on a side street and walk over to the salon. Although I was a couple minutes late I was still well received openly. That's a nice feeling as it is hard enough when you are stressed to arrive late at an unfamiliar place. I asked for the ladies room and it was clean as the rest of the salon which was spotless. If I was here again I could use their private parking lot which is a definite plus. Samatha was the stylist who washed and blow dried my hair for the wedding I was going to. She styled it exactly the way I wanted and miraculously it stayed in place all night despite the humidity. At the end of my appointment I even bought the product she used in my hair as it is to assist your hair with humidity. I am sure it will be great same as this salon. They are very much deserving of the five star rating that they currently hold. Would definitely comeback on my next visit to Safety Harbor! read more

We have a vacation home here in SH, and it had been way too long since my haircut. I loathe finding new stylists, but after reading yelp reviews I decided to give Tamar Dupre a whirl. Deena was my stylist, and I had a lovely scalp treatment and head massage on top of a really beautifully styled haircut. All the other ladies getting their hair done during my appointment were also drinking WINE! And boy was I jealous. I definitely would have partaken as well, but I had planned to go for a walk post, and I find mixing wine and walking = low motivation. I went to Sam based on Yelp reviews. She does a good blonde. Of the two times I went, during one visit she was running two chairs but I did not wait long. She is a bit expensive for color. My hair hadn't been professionally done in almost a year and she took the time to carefully test before she applied any color/bleach to be sure and NOT damage it since we were doing such a drastic update. My daughter had an appointment scheduled at 1:30 today and the appointment was scheduled with the stylist, Jen a week ago. My daughter was looking forward to the appointment and I changed a trip that we were going to make to Gainesville to visit my older daughter today. We get a call at 12:15 telling us Jen is running late and will be canceling our appointment today. The person who called me was trying to reschedule but said she'd need to talk to Jen and call back. We got a call back an hour later by Jen. Admittedly, I was upset. Jen tells me this happens all the time and is part of the hair industry. Her other clients would understand and would appreciate the same level of service. I'm not sure what she is talking about and felt that she could have handled the situation better. I told her my daughter was very disappointed and couldn't understand why working an extra 45 minutes that day to fit my daughter in wasn't doable. Even if my request was unreasonable, she didn't offer alternatives. I don't understand why she couldn't still fit her in and handle two clients at the same time. I completely agree that running late happens a lot but I've never had someone call and say your appointment is now canceled. Maybe I'm lucky and just have a great stylist. I'm 53 years old and have had 2 long term stylist and they have never canceled for this reason. My daughter went to Jen for her last haircut and we were hoping to find a long term stylist as my stylist is difficult to get into. Jen accused me of talking to her inappropriately but I asked the people with me if they thought the same thing. They said absolutely not and most people would have been more upset. Jen is unpleasant, inflexible, and unprofessional. Don't waste your time at this salon, it is run very poorly and there are several other salons in this area that you can find someplace better. read more

Tammy has been doing my hair for almost a year now and she's the best I have ever been to! She is very kind, she really listens and understands what you want done and does an amazing job. My hair was pretty fried before coming to her and she has gotten me to the blonde I wanted to be while restoring my hair to the healthiest it's ever been. She seriously works magic! Her new place in downtown Safety Harbor is beautiful although I would follow her anywhere she went. Her assistant, Brandy, is wonderful as well and gives the best shampoos ever.
