I moved to Tampa recently and needed a new stylist. My last stylist bleached me blonde in 2010 and I have been with her ever since. My hair is naturally very dark and my roots are always hard to pull but after 10 years, she had it down to a science. When I moved, she gave me the flash card she kept for my visits with a detailed breakdown of the steps it takes to get my roots to the perfect blonde. My appointments took no longer than 2.5 hours or less and I only needed my hair toned 1 time and cost around $95 - $115, depending on what I was doing with my hair. After looking around for a new stylist, I settled on Moda Milano as the salon seemed very professional, with a full service list with pricing. A full head of foils is listed as $115. When I made the appointment, I gave them a detailed run down of what I needed and was told it would be $115. Awesome! Or so I thought...my appointment was at 2:30 and I didn't even get in the chair until 3:30 or later...I gave the stylist the detail card of how to do bleach my hair. She barely looked at it then handed it back to me...it was literally 5 simple steps. Fast forward close to 5 hours and THREE toners later and i'm just done at this point. The salon is empty as everyone had gone home that worked there and the stylist then tells me "that's $195". WHAT?!!! I told her that I was quoted $115 and have never spent more than that in my life. She then said "well it was alot of work".... I was so angry because I KNEW she wasn't just following what I showed her and said "It's never taken more than 2 and a half hours to do my hair". She ended up taking $10 off. TEN FREAKING DOLLARS. The next day, I started doing my hair and I found that my entire head has spots like the photo i've included....my ENTIRE head. I was so happy with the salon until last week that I made an appointment online for a full service of root color, hair cut and style. When I booked the price was $85 which is a very good price! I was also scheduled for a pedicure while waiting for my color but they insisted that it was a good idea to also have a manicure. i asked if there was enough time to do everything and they said yes! I end up not having a haircut and paying $95 for root color and a blow dry... I called after to check if what I paid was correct and they said that my hair is long..... really...? this is the first salon that charges me for a root color based on the length of my hair.... Kristel was not there that day I know things would be very different with her there. Kelly is also AMAZING! The best pedicure ever! read more

Where do I even begin, this salon completely changed by style more than once and I absolutely love it here!! I started out with long, untamed, honey colored hair and infrequent hair cuts. Now I enjoy going to the salon every couple of months to change my look! Krystle and her entire team are absolutely fabulous!! The coloring techniques used are always current and artistically completed. Today I even went to have my make up done for my birthday and I am feeling glamorous as ever! This is perhaps one of the worst salon experiences I have ever had. I was new to Florida and trying to find a new stylist, so of course I took to yelp to read reviews and find someone to try. Moda Milano had tons of great reviews, so I figured why not, it's right down the road. From the moment I walked in, I should have told myself to walk out. The stylist greeted me with hair dye in her hair as she was dyeing her roots. I found this to be incredibly unprofessional - In my 37 years of hair appointments with many stylists, this has never happened. Note she also had to step away from my appointment several times to tend to her hair. I was growing in a pixie cut and was very specific about what I wanted as not to back track. I also had very dark brown (almost black) hair that I was looking to gradually lighten up. I explained this and the stylist said she knew exactly what to do. 2 hours later, my growing out pixie was a lot less grown out and I had a combination of yellow and white stripes (hilights) in my hair. I literally looked like a raccoon. What professional, experienced stylist would take nearly black hair to yellow/white in chunky hilights? Obviously I was very unhappy, but not willing to let her do any more damage - I paid and left, thinking I'd find a new stylist to re-color so I wouldn't be striped. However, the next morning it only got worse. I washed my hair and started to brush it with a wet brush (you know, the kind that prevents damage) and my hair started falling out in chunks. She had used such harsh bleach that my hair was breaking off. I'm not talking a hair or two, CLUMPS. I still shudder when I think of this experience - as most ladies know, hair is very important and it's borderline traumatic when you get a bad cut or color. It seems others have had good experiences - don't know why I didn't get so lucky. I can only advise that you seek another salon (like Salon Bella Flora where I go now!) read more

Moda Milano is a nice salon that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. Nothing pretentious here, just friendly faces and great conversations. I was happy with my hair cut and style and enjoyed talking with Kris about the friends who recommended me (it touched my hear that she knew them well enough to talk about them) and suggestions for styling my hair. My long time hairdresser moved and I was forced to find someone new. I gave this place an honest try with 3 visits. They put me with someone who, by her own admission, doesn't speak good english. So there was a language barrier from the start. She did an ok job the first time, not awesome, but not the worst. So I came back. She was 30 minutes late. Came back a 3rd time, she was 15 minutes late. This was my last time because she totally didn't listen to what I wanted and I left with 2 different haircuts. One on the top and one on the bottom - think Carol Brady from the Brady Bunch. I honestly felt embarrassed to go anywhere. It was that bad. Not to mention, the prices they quote through their online booking are completely wrong. I went across the street to Shear Joy - absolutely beautiful salon - and they were able to fix the mess she made - the best they could. Fantastic stylist and saved my hair when it was "green" in color by another salon. Have used Susan's services and also a great manicurist. Both of these women came to my home to care for my mother the last two years of her life. Kind, generous acts that will never be forgotten by me.
