Tamashii is one of our favorite restaurants and the Norman location is just as good as the one in Midtown. Everything we have ever tried here has been amazing. The restaurant is spacious and full of seating, so getting in on a weekend is easier. The service for the most part is good as well. However, if you are in a rush it can at times be difficult to get in and out because of the number of tables - I would probably recommend to-go for that situation instead. Thankfully, to-go is still great because they have wonderful packaging to keep everything separate and fresh on the ride home. The broth was silky and deeply flavorful, the kind of depth that only comes from properly slow-simmered pork bones. The noodles had great texture, the pork was tender, and the bowl was beautifully balanced. I added a little heat, which cut through the richness and elevated the flavor even more. Surprisingly, we grabbed a table for 3 right away after OU's first home game. The restaurant was packed by the time we left. We started with the chicken wings - unfortunately, they were undercooked. Skin was soft and the meat was undercooked - our server had them removed from the bill. However I hope they can improve the cooking as they could be really good. Our orders included the chasu-don fried rice, garlic ramen, and tonkatsu ramen... plus an order of takoyaki. The rice is insanely delicious! Comes in a cast iron skillet, so you get some crispy bits - just a total flavor bomb. My garlic ramen was very good - the broth is a treat on its own. Add the perfectly cooked egg and other goodies, and it's a party in a bowl, too. My wife loves her tonkatsu ramen, which she adds extra spice. Service was good, and I would give it 5 stars, but the chicken wings were a huge disappointment. We will be back for sure - and maybe the wings will be crispy and cooked! read more

Last year we did the event with Sakura Ramen at the Edmond location and we loved it. So this year when we got the email about this event, we signed up for it immediately. Once you sign up you get the event ticket through email and we then save it to your phone. On the day of the event, we arrived and there was a line outside the door. Once we got online, this guy manning the door comes over to check on your ticket and then gave us another event ticket to get in the door. We didn't wait that long, it was maybe 10 mins, which wasn't too bad. Inside was packed and busy. Once seated they show us the menu for the event. Our tickets already paid for 2 ramen so we told our servers we wanted the Itadaki Tonkatsu and the Itadaki Miso ramens, and then added the DX Topping on one. In just 2-3 minutes, they set the bowl of Miso ramen at our table. My husband tried it and said it was not hot. I tried it and indeed it was lukewarm. We told our server and they took it away. We waited for a little over 5 mins and they brought the Tonkatsu, which was hot and very good. The extra toppings is worth the extra money. The soft-boiled egg was perfection. My husband and I were sharing the one ramen we had so far. Another 5 mins and the server came by and asked if this one was hotter, and we were like we never got the Miso one yet. So she went to check. Maybe 2 mins later, they finally came with the Miso ramen. This time it was piping hot and delicious. My husband loved and thoroughly enjoyed it. When we checked out we asked why the first Miso ramen was lukewarm, wondering what happened. It can't be a coincidence that it was "ready" so in advance in comparison to the other bowl? The server shrugged and didn't know, said it came straight from the pot. Really? Could've used some honesty here. Overall, we enjoyed the food. Will probably still sign up for the next event if there is another one. I liked the Sakura Ramen event better, but my husband liked this one as their soup base was thicker. Another great Yelp recommendation. We ordered the Gyoza, Takoyaki and the Tonkotsu Ramen. The apps were delicious and I absolutely loved the ramen. I forgot to take pics of the apps but will definitely post a pic of the ramen. Great location, parking could be limited depending on the time. Walking into the restaurant was very inviting and just looks like fun place. We were promptly greeted, seated and order taken by our server. If you like tonkatsu ramen definitely come here. I came here with my dad and he really enjoyed the corn ramen, while I personally don't enjoy tonkatsu ramen I will say the garlic ramen was pretty good. The takoyaki was good, and I recommend trying it if you haven't the gyoza was crispier than I prefer but still good. The waitress was amazing though, very kind and very willing to answer our questions. The entire restaurant is very cool looking, the low lights and the sitting areas are very pretty. This was a spot for a little family night with our daughter and son in law. He absolutely loves to try new places, as does my wife. I will admit I was very nervous... I had nothing to fear. There were plenty of options to feed a hungry bear like me. Everything was so fresh and different from anything I have ever tried before. It's a bit expensive $2.50 for one mochi but you can tell it's homemade and it tasted great. Thought the pricing was mostly appropriate, ramen was priced well. Nice Norman location of Tamashii that had a few new menu items. The egg fried ice is always great. The ramen I got had a tad bit more cabbage but was overall flavorful. The green melon soda drink was excellent. Great service and large wooden ancient Japanese interior with many seats/tables, anime playing on TVs all around and cool Japanese decorations. First time trying out this location in Norman. It didn't disappoint! We had a great server (Sebastian) and he gave some wonderful recommendations. We arrived much later (8PM) for dinner than I normally would and the place was crowded & loud. We waited ~10 minutes before we were seated. But our daughter decided this is where we were going to eat so who am I to argue! The Edamame will be a pass, less than impressed! Maybe if I get the spicy version but the one my wife chose, not so much! I think the Garlic Fried Rice w/Karaage Chicken was the hit of the night! Great flavors - my wife's choice. The gluten free is not good at all. The noodles wouldn't loosen up and remained a gelatinous mess that you could only break small pieces off. The food and environment are great, I get the curry dish and swap out pork for chicken every time. The reason for my 2 stars is the prices. I don't mind paying 15-20 a dish, but 25 for chicken and rice?? The "secret" menu item, T-Rex, which is their fried rice with chicken and toppings added, is ridiculously priced and should be better explained. Our host asked my husband what meat he wanted like it was included with the meal instead of saying "hey this is extra." You guys... $9.95 for fried rice + $16.50 for added meat and some special sauces??? Suggestion: If you're going to charge for two meals then make it the size of 2 meals or at least let your guests know beforehand what they're in for. It's delicious but not that delicious. read more

Tamashii is the restaurant that keeps giving - I'm so excited to write another review for this place! Today we wandered in during a special event they were hosting - the restaurant had flown in chefs from Japan and had a pop-up menu (it's still going on through the weekend so get out and visit them while you can!!) with special appetizers and ramen bowls. My husband and I HAD to get the pork buns, and you do to! Crispy fried pork with a little bit of mayo and shredded cabbage in a delicious bun - these were so good we ordered two to go. We got two different ramen bowls: I got the Itadaki Tonkotsu and he got the Itadaki Spicy Tonkotsu with deluxe toppings. We had such a fun time while trying these specialty menu items! The atmosphere inside is just as friendly and welcoming as ever, and our waiter was very helpful in explaining all the specialty menu items and making recommendations. You can get tickets online (and pay for your bowl in advance) or walk in and pay for it in person. If you're in Norman looking for a super fun and flavorful experience, stop by this weekend! So my second trip was pleasant. We went for dinner last night. I took my oldest daughter this time. I love that they greet their patrons in Japanese! They also offer Japanese Pokemon cards! They use warm lighting to soften the atmosphere. I love not walking into harsh blue light. Our server Vin (sp?) was very kind. He made suggestions and took time to chat with us. The wall next to our booth was decorated with Japanese signing. It was super fun to look at! Tamashii noodles are a bit toothsome. I love that they are not mushy! The texture is perfect for my taste. My daughter didn't like them as much though. I had the "spicy" miso ramen. If you're a spice lover you will be disappointed. I did not order a chili bomb because I enjoyed the taste of the broth well enough without it but I would not consider the broth spicy. The eggs in our ramen were cold in the center. Once we got our waiter to the table, he was quick with getting us our drinks and appetizers and the food came out quick as well. I don't often eat ramen, but this was very good. There's not much to complain about when it comes to eating at Tamashii. this was my first time in their Norman location, and I was treated really well. The staff was super inviting in the ambience inside was quite nice. We had gotten a couple items. Their takoyaki and edamame were both yummy. The black garlic Ramen was nice, and the garlic fried rice was also super yummy. I decided to try something different and got the Mazemen. it was good, but probably the most disappointing item that we had gotten. I've had Mazemen before, but here specifically the taste was a little one noted, and the noodles were a bit too al dente for my taste. The portion, however, was really big and ended up lasting two meals. I could see myself coming back to Tamashii's but I probably won't be ordering the Mazemen again. read more

Couldn't tell from their online menu whether not they had adult beverages (not good)...but, they did (good). Decided to try Tamashii Ramen House in Norman, Oklahoma with my son today! Not too shabby of a place to eat. This was our first experience with eating Ramen that didn't come from a wrapper and it did not disappoint. We began our Ramen journey with a Takoyaki appetizer (fried octopus balls), my 9 year old Loved his Curry Ramen. While, I indulged in the the amazing Mazemen topped with bean sprouts dish. We will definitely eat here again. I didn't think to take a picture of my bowl before I dug in, but it looked so yummy! The ambience has a wonderful energy!
