I've gone to tamashii a good amount now. They're pretty consistent and their service stays good even during busier hours. I like the renovations they've done to their original building. There's a lot more seating which is nice. Their ramen is great too. My personal favorite is the garlic ramen and the mazemen. They give you a decent amount of noodles and toppings. This was my first visit to Tamashii Ramen House in Oklahoma City. From the moment we pulled up, the place looked clean, organized, and well maintained. They have outdoor seating available, but we decided to sit inside where everything was neat, tidy, and running like a well-oiled machine. The staff throughout the restaurant were friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Unfortunately, our first table felt like it was sitting directly under the Arctic Circle, so we politely asked to be moved. Thankfully, that wasn't a problem. Once relocated, we landed in Ms. Jemara's section. Ms. Jemara was a sweet young lady with a warm smile, a friendly personality, and excellent customer service. She was attentive, welcoming, and checked on us throughout our meal without hovering. For drinks, my sister ordered a Coke while I went with a glass of water and an Orion beer. For appetizers, I ordered the Chicken Karaage and a side of Gyoza. For my main course, I chose the Vegan Miso Butter Corn Ramen and added a Nitamago egg. The Chicken Karaage was nice and crispy and made for a good starter. The Gyoza was enjoyable as well. As for the ramen, it was decent--certainly not the best I've ever had, but far from the worst. What surprised me was learning that the owners are from Okinawa, Japan. I was expecting a broth packed with rich, bold flavor, but this vegan broth came across a little milder than I anticipated. To be fair, this was my first time trying a vegan ramen broth, so that may have played a role. Since I don't eat pork, I've sampled quite a few different styles of ramen over the years, and while this bowl was good, I've personally had more flavorful versions elsewhere. Tamashii is a hip spot in Midtown. It has a cool atmosphere with plenty of seating for groups. I enjoyed the dimly lit interior with various anime playing from projectors. I came with a large group to eat, but I could see myself coming just for drinks as well. They had various types of sake, Japanese beer and cocktails. The food menu has ramen classics and other Japanese items such as bao and Takoyaki. I tried some edamame and it was seasoned perfectly and had a hint of sweetness from whatever sauce was on it. I ordered the curry ramen and was happy with how it came out. The cheese was a nice and unique touch to give it a lot more depth and creaminess. The diced chasu was also plentiful, there was a lot! I immediately found a parking spot which was great. As I walked into the door I was greeted by a very friendly staff. My waiter then escorted me to my table. I then ordered the Garlic Ramen and Takoyaki Octopus. The Ramen was very delicious and it was a very large portion. I definitely had enough to take home. Then I took my first bite of the Octopus and it tasted so good, it was exquisite. The sauces on top went nicely with it. I am from out of town but will definitely make a trip just to come and eat here again. It was that good! Also, it was very affordable. What I also noticed was the projector playing anime onto the wall making the feel of the restaurant more original to a real Japanese Restaurant in Japan. My order was wrong and not very good because of it. I'm not a big ramen person to begin with , but my son and daughter in law love it. Of course their place they used to go in Las Vegas they liked better and I have to agree. I ordered the Spicy Ramen and they gave me the Miso soup , not the broth. It was too sweet and thick and took away from the jalapenos and even when I put the Choo Choo Kara in it which was Level 2 it just didn't do it. My son even order a side of Spicy Pork which I added a little too and the sweet corn soup was just too overpowering. We live in Mustang , so I wasn't going to drive all the way back to get it corrected of course. My son got the Spicy Miso Ramen and it was essentially the same as mine except for no jalapenos. My daughter in law got the Ninniku Tonkotsu , which I didn't get to try since she didn't get off of work till late. I had thought about getting that one instead of the Spicy Ramen. We also got an order of Karaage Chicken with Lemon and Golden Sauce. It was pretty good. I wanted 2 of the Chicken Thigh Skewers that was on the menu , but they said they no longer sell those. I would have rather had those than the Karaage Chicken. The cashier seemed to be new and maybe that's why my order got messed up. I did get a 10% Military Discount that she had to call a Manager over to give me. It was still $60.00 and my son and daughter in law both said it's not as good as our place in Las Vegas , but they haven't found a better ramen place to go to yet. The food was excellent, and I genuinely enjoyed the meal. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. My whiskey was served in a dirty glass with visible particles floating in it, which was disappointing. When I tried to get assistance, I was repeatedly told to "talk to my server" by other staff members, even though my server had been out of sight for several minutes. It felt like no one was willing to help outside of their specific role. I also had an uncomfortable experience when it came time to pay. After requesting the check, it was simply placed on the table and my server walked away without explaining the checkout process. When I got up to find out where I should pay, I was met with a passive-aggressive response implying that I should have known to pay with my server. As a first-time guest, I had no way of knowing the restaurant's procedure, and it felt as though I was being treated with suspicion despite having every intention of paying my bill in full--which I did. After waiting several minutes without attention from the bartender, I finally ordered water, as I hadn't received a clean menu. I was eager to enjoy my usual spicy ramen, but when it arrived, it was bland, and the noodles were overcooked. Despite the quick food delivery, the service continued to disappoint. My table remained dirty, and I had to ask for silverware while my ramen sat unattended, getting cold. The staff seemed more focused on chatting among themselves than on customer service, which felt unprofessional. When I requested a to-go box, the server took my food without permission, which made me uncomfortable. Ultimately, I left without my meal, feeling extremely dissatisfied with the experience. Good ingredients and presentation. It really wants to be legit and the ramen is really close. (We lived in Japan so I consider myself an expert ) The takoyaki was perfect - seasoned batter and double the normal amount of Octopus. Total winner. We got Niniku Tonkotsu as our ramen with kikurage and an extra egg. The soup and all the ingredients, except the noodles and chashu, were excellent. The noodles weren't al dente (too hard) and the chashu was a weird texture because of how thick the cut was, almost jammy inside. The eggs were STELLAR. In the US you normally get cold eggs that just get thrown in your soup. Not here. Sooo good. Our waitress was great and very kind. We sat on the patio which was blessedly cooled. We have been many times and it's by far my favorite ramen in OKC. I've tried a few combinations but my go to is the curry ramen. It's my happy food. It's also my comfort food. It's also my cold remedy. The garlic fried rice is also one of those dishes that you didn't know you couldn't survive without. I like to let it sit as long as I can stand so the bottom gets the crispy bits. We prefer to sit at the bar so we can watch them cook. You have to be 21 and they do check IDs. read more

Five of us went to Tamashii Ramen in Norman to eat. Seeing all the great reviews made us think we were in for a wonderful experience. Nope. We ordered three different appetizers and all but one of us ordered an entree. The first appetizer arrived in a covered bowl with no announcement; we didn't even realize it had come until midway through our meal. The second appetizer finally arrived (the octopus). It was okay, but nothing to get really excited about - the octopus balls were nicely cooked, but the sauce was blah-sweet. Then the entrees arrived. One person was very happy with her entree. My entree was blah-sweet - I couldn't tell any difference between the sauce on it and the sauce on the octopus balls. There was no shishito; instead, they had put bean sprouts on it, which I did NOT want. When I asked about the shishito, the waitress said, "Oh, I thought you wanted bean sprouts!" Now, the restaurant is loud, but the difference in the sounds of "bean sprouts" and "shishito" is pretty significant, so how could she make that mistake? Then she said they don't have shishito any more. So there wasn't even that to spice up my entree. My husband's entree was cold. He said it was also blah. And that final appetizer? All of us were eating except one. He had ordered that appetizer for his meal. We finally had to wave to get any attention and ask where his food was; then they brought it out. Summary: Blah food with too much sweetness, and very poor service. That one person who liked her food doesn't like anything spicy. She's the only reason I'm not giving this restaurant a one-star review. We won't be going back. read more
