Stopped in at noon for a burger. Ordered a couple drinks and checked out the menu. We sat at the bar and I've not felt so disregarded in a long time. It took over 29 minutes to get asked if we want to eat. We did but decided to move on. We've had better service on previous visits and what we've eaten in the past has been good so I won't give them a terrible rating. They make their Bloody Marys with Mr & Mrs T and Clemato juice. read more

Terrible place to work, management very very poor. Terrible place to eat as well, as they warm many things up in the microwave. Worked there a few years ago as a teen girl and even now as a grown woman, has not changed, still the most mature person walking in there . Stopped in for the first time again tonight in years, nothing has changed. Management is run by a family who definitely has a huge chip on their shoulder for running a small town bar out of fairmont, mn. If you're expecting a warm welcoming atmosphere, you'll just find a bunch of drunks who like to gossip here:) Especially the people who run the place, very very unprofessional. Owners son rudely said they should put a sign up saying when people can come in and start drinking when my girlfriend and I walked in. Clearly loud of enough he wanted us to hear him. It was 9pm. He continued to sit there and gossip about past employees other other folks in town while I sat there and drank my beer. Wouldn't recommend this place at all unless you like to get mistreated as a customer. I figured a bar would appreciate people coming in for a drink. Not this one. Unless you're a usual who sits there day in and day out destroying your liver and giving them your paycheck. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Great find on our way to S Dakota. We enjoyed the fun atmosphere and our food was very good - steak and fish. Great drinks and service too!

I'd give it 3 stars because fish is hard in Minnesota. Or the Dakotas. Or Iowa, Nebraska etc. most midwestern fish dinners are deep fried. I love walleye so we got that and cod. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Fairmont. The staff is always friendly, and I really like their salad bar. You get a lettuce mix, and then there are a few topping choices (like olives, carrots, peas...etc...) but there are also premixed salads such as potato salads, pasta salads. They have all the dressings that you can want, and they also have some dessert salads. They also serve two different kinds of soup with the salad bar. So far, I have liked everything that I've ordered. The reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because I believe that they are a little overpriced for the same menu items compared to other establishments. I have always had absolutely wonderful food here, but the service tonight was poor to say the least.. the bartender's attitude was extraordinarily awful as well when I came to him with a problem involving a problem the waitress couldn't help me with. Normally he is a very nice guy.. but tonight.. is it good etiquette to get in a customer's face? I dont think so.. with that said, if not for Krista the kitchen manager being the only polite one there tonight I don't think I would ever even think about going back and this review would be one star instead of two. I have been eating here off and on since high school in 2009. I have always thought food and service was excellent but this experience just ruins it for me. I may try again in the future.. and maybe at that point I can modify this review. To think this all started because evidently they have a hard time following general restaurant procedures. The appetizer is supposed to come BEFORE the entree. Instead of realizing this the bartender actually argued and said "did u order the appetizer at the same time as the food?" Very disappointing! No buffet on a Tuesday eventhough the menu said so, only soup and salad bar. So we ordered sandwiches and soup and salad bar. The salad bar was mediocre at best and only one soup choice, onion soup. My chicken cordon bleu came and the lettuce cheese ham and chicken would not stay on the bun. The worst part was that I couldn't even bite through the chicken breast in places because it was so hard and tough on top of that it had no flavor. The only redeeming quality was the fact that they have braunschweiger on their salad bar. All in all it'll be a while before I go back. My biggest complaint is that they only have 12 flat screen to choose from... Just kidding. I just had lunch at Tami's on the Ave. I had the prime rib sandwich with the specialty fries (I don't remember what they are called but they come with the sourcream). The sandwich was tender and the seasoned (special fries) were really crispy and tasty! Tami's is a sports bar and banquet hall and a dining hall so it's nice because you've got the option to host a wedding party, birthday party, poker night (which I hear they may be starting officially on Monday and Tuesday nights), come for thier full buffet of piping hot food, or just sit down for a sandwich like I did. I think the food was great at an even better value and since it is a "mom and pop" family owned restaurant I like that fact that it may even be Tami (the owner) serving you. I haven't tried thier steaks but I will next time because everyone says they are restaurant quality instead of "sports bar". For Farimont, MN Tami's on the Ave is a great option for friendly service, tasty food, and good value. read more
