We were so excited to pull up to this restaurant. The front of the building was decorated with the images of the original owners which made it look so interesting. Stepping inside felt like a step back in time to about the "60's or 70's. So much of the original decor is included in the design of the restaurant including the old ice boxes and tin ceiling. The staff was very friendly, although our waiter seemed to have another task he was trying to finish so we didn't get much attention. We went for breakfast and ordered nothing special- straight off the menu. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food and the restaurant was not busy at all. That is what made the experience frustrating. Fortunately the food was really good. The sausage is homemade and delicious. The hash browns and eggs were cooked perfectly. We came early on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Interesting facts: If you order eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns they all may arrive in a 5-minute window on separate plates. Between all the plates and saucers for coffee cups and creamer there was barely any room left on our table. Another tidbit: If you're under 50, you may very well be the youngest customer in the place. Great for those wanting to feel young again. The whole BUILDING was old and extremely dated, but appeared to be clean. Food was fine, nothing notable in my opinion but it did the job. The sausage appeared to be homemade, which is unusual. Pancakes were mediocre. Hash browns crispy on the outside. The servers seemed to enjoy sitting at the dining counter socializing, looking at their phones while not working- but they were friendly and I didn't think service was slow like others have written. read more

O.M.G. As we sat, she offers orange juice. Regular or fresh squeezed. Why would anyone want regular if there is the fresh squeezed option. It was nectar of the gods! Made the whole stop worth it. The iced tea also was very good. We got a burger, a Dalton's chicken sandwich and fries. The burger was perfectly prepared and very tasty with tomato and pickles and lettuce. The french fries were crispy and tasty as well. Chicken sandwich was just OK. The service was quick and very friendly. We got our food in a short amount of time. Definitely a good detour from the interstate 90 doldrums when In Minnesota. read more

The American Breakfast died on the rack, the victim of sloppy, dehydrated potatoes barely cooked in a mist of oil spray and called "hash browns." It died with greazy eggs. Edie's is the perfect place to go after church on Sundays. I haven't been in a while but whenever I do go it is always good! They only take cash so be prepared, but the pricing is very reasonable. I have eaten lunch here (mostly burgers and fries) and that was good as well. read more

Do not order scrambled eggs here. For some reason the cook chops them into the tiniest bits that fall off your fork. You can't even capture them well on a spoon. I have asked repeatedly that they not do that but to no avail. I no longer go there for breakfast. read more

This is an interesting little restaurant in Fairmont, MN. Buyer beware before you go, they only take cash. I thought the food was mediocre, comprable to a modern day Waffle House, and the prices are about comparable. There was a nice regular crowd there, and the server was pleasant. Food is terrible. Food was served cold. Waitress was very nasty . Had like a 30 minute just for a blt, .. which was served cold bacon looked like it was old. The food is only so so. The service is not overly friendly......think flo from alice. I think if you are a regular the service gets better..... Atmosphere is old run down, in better times or with some effort it could easily be brought up to quaint dinner. Pealing paint on the walls and ceiling, cracked worn out seats. Prices are reasonable but if you are like many people who dont normaly carry cash you're in trouble here. My husband Mark Bergeron, My mom Patricia Swenson & myself decided we wanted to have our morning coffee and a breakfast at Edies restaurant this morning. We went in and ordered coffee and breakfast. The waitress was okay at 1st but then quickly turned on us because we took too long to order our meals, I guess....The waitress then said, "If you want me you will have to yell for me"! Well after a few minutes, my husband began to place our orders and I wanted the cheese omelette and the waitress asked "what kind of bread do you want white or wheat?" I replied wheat but then I said "Wait, bread doesn't come with my order" she replied "YES, it does! The waitress got very snippy and pointed it out to me and became extremely flustered and repeated herself and said "WHAT BREAD, WHITE OR WHEAT?" So I replied, I said WHEAT and told her I said that already. After she had taken down our orders, she QUICKLY SNATCHED the menu out of my husbands hands! We left it go, but then my husband Mark asked me "do you still want to eat here?" I said, well maybe she is having a bad day. In the meantime my mom preceded to tell us both that there was another time when she had went there herself to have a malt and the waitress had only given her half of the malt she had paid for and my mom said, "where is the rest of my malt?" The waitress replied "You don't get the rest". Then the waitress sat down and preceded to drink the rest of my moms malt that she had paid for and did it right in front of her! Well then we all started up a new conversation and then I happened to notice that the waitress wasn't coming back to our table to refill our coffee cups and had all together just disappeared. Then I told my mom and husband that it didn't even look like they weren't even preparing our breakfast order! Well then I said out loud "We need coffee at this table please! Only a few seconds had passed and the young manager marched up to our table and said, " We got a problem here"? My husband said "no" we don't but your waitress does. Then the manager replied "I want you all out of here because I won't have you disrespecting our staff"! My husband said, " Can I please have the chance to explain what's going on with your waitress and the manager, replied, "NO GET OUT AND DON'T COME BACK AGAIN"! We were all in complete shock because we had done nothing wrong and we were being treated this way??? The manger blatantly refused to listen to our side of the story. Even as we were getting ready to leave, a customer that was behind us had asked us, "What did you guys do wrong"? My husband replied, "Nothing". As we were leaving my mom said, "well that's okay, my meal is on them then" because she had ordered before we did. What is this world coming to! I will be sharing this 3 times a day, everyday and I would appreciated if my friends and family can share our story of mistreatment. My mom will be contacting our local newspaper and I will be contacting our local news team. Please carefully review my story and tell me, do you think we were in the wrong? I was even trying to give consideration to the matter, that maybe this lady was just having a bad day and that is more consideration then she or the manager had given to myself and my family.
